Flying into Tough Airports: Kathmandu, Nepal - AIN

- We’re at FlightSafety International’s Teterboro learning center to spend some time in a Falcon 900EX level D simulator to learn about how to fly into some of the toughest airports in the world.
Today’s challenging airport is Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, which is nestled high in the steep Himalayan terrain. The instrument approach itself adds challenging features, including multiple step-downs during the descent and varying glidepath angles. The missed approach procedure requires a minimum 5-degree climb gradient as well as a sharp turn to avoid nearby mountains.
In this video, we’ll do a takeoff and a landing. This is the fourth video in our series about challenging airports. Very interesting. Simulators definitely make training for situations like this so much safer! As a side note, I have a friend who works as an engineer here at the FlightSafety in Broken Arrow Oklahoma.

There must be a bumpy ramp effect. You should know very detail about a Tribhuvan Intl Airport Kathmandu.
That problem in the airport have already been solved n faclon in light aircraft so not much momentum available to produce bump
Also try out Paro International Airport because it's also a really challenging place to takeoff and land on.

Wasn't this the same approach Thai Airlines 311 was supposed to take and was cleared for landing TriBhuvan Airport Runway 02 but instead slammed into a mountain in 1992. 😢😮

If you land on lukla airport then you are a piolt.
You can succeed to land on Mugu (Talcha) Airport after 2 pm (windy), you will become Expert Pilot.
