    Hey Marcel. Thank you for making this video. I couldn't imagine it in my dreams that your reply would come this way, I am very much delighted. F3 is one of the choices I had, so I'll go with it and now I am also certain for mic. I already have light stand and SD card, so yes rest falls in my budget. Thanks a ton again. More love and power to you.

    I use a light stand for my audio recording most of the time. It's sturdy and I like to mount my Mix-Pre 3 on a clamp to it while putting the microphone on top. I find the Manfrotto Nanopole to be useful when I need something very light for being mobile but it stays in my car most of the time. I keep going back to these Audio Technica microphones and may wind up picking up one of the two you mentioned in the near future. Also you can't go wrong with the Audio Technica headphones. Nice video.

    I’ve bought so many of your recommended gear - BP4025 w/ Rycote Wind Muff, Manfrotto Carbon Stand, Zoom F6, etc. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you doing all this work testing gear so that people like me can get up and running quickly with great results. Thank you!!
    The only reason I’d recommend the F6 over the F3 is the native timecode support. I like to jam sync my F6 with my Tentacle Sync E and then use that same Sync E to pump TC into my camera. Then at the end of the day after I’ve downloaded all of my footage, I just sync via TC in Resolve and audio from F6 is perfectly synced with my video footage. This saves me tons of time (and frustration) in my workflow. How do you currently sync all of your clips?

    thank you for another great video like the others.
    Would you be able to recommend a cheaper best set up for say $500 USD, I already have AKG K271 MkII Studio Headphones. I have started recording videos at the end of my local beach with my cheap Android phone, I can get a few minutes of good enough footage on a calm day with hardly any wind, before background noise from other people overtakes the sounds of the waves and birds chirping in the trees. The Birds are 120 degrees from the waves with the people about 50 meters behind both of these. I am wondering if I could start off with the Zoom H1n plugged into the Rode NTG4+ Premium Shotgun Microphone with Battery. I could record the birds in the trees separately, by getting closer to them and join the 2 audio clips of the waves and the birds.
    Or do I need to save up the extra money to pair this microphone with the Zoom F3.
    Or would you recommend another better set-up for my money?

    If I cheekily call it £1000 pounds instead of $1000 at current prices in the UK 🇬🇧 from one pro sound shop you could have the large diaphragm BP4025 that I really like 😂 That’s a good selection though and I agree with the F3 it’s a really compact game changer from Zoom and I really like it. Of course you could get more for your money stereo wise if you went for a pair of Lom Usi Pro or more readily available Micbooster EM272 Clippys and a stereo bar but I’d always have and use the Audio Technica it’s just such a good microphone 👍

    • @FreeToUseSounds
      @FreeToUseSounds  Před rokem +1

      That is true for sure. Also it makes the kit lighter and smaller when using the Usi or Clippys. But you run into more limitations in higher wind situations so I don't want to include them in this video.

    HI Marcel, enjoyed the video. A quick question if I may, perhaps an obvious one. I have a Zoom F3, the inputs are labelled 1 and 2- do these correspond to 1 (left) 2 (right)? I use the F3 with an audio technica stereo mic and an m/s shotgun mic, and using the correct input is obviously important. Zoom doesn't mention this at all in their user manual.

    As someone who’s been watching lots of your videos, before I get a first setup: Wouldn’t you miss the 3.5mm mini jack with plug in power, for example for something like a pair of stereo Omni-directional Clippy EM272 mics? I kind of hope Zoom brings out something small and affordable with 32 float like the F3 but with a 3.5 stereo input with PIP (or with a fitting for the detachable mics like the F1 so you could use the XY mic’s PIP input).

    • @FreeToUseSounds
      @FreeToUseSounds  Před rokem

      I do agree with you on the 3.5mm mini jack and also not having a XLR/¼-inch TRS input is a little bit of a bummer. So I need to purchase an adapter for the Korg CM 300. Always room for improvement. :)

    Würde ich jetzt nochmal anfangen, würde ich exakt genauso machen. Gut, bei uns ist der Aufpreis zum BP4025 nicht sehr hoch. Da ich ausschließlich Stereo oder Mono aufnehme, hab ich beim F6 nur den Vorteil, dass ich die Eingänge für die verschiedenen Mikrofontypen vorkonfiguriert habe. 1&2 Clippys (verlinkt), 3 Shotgun, 6 Geofon. Aber es ist einfach super angenehm, z.B. mit einem Stereomikrofon auf einer Angel und einem daran befestigten F3 durch die Gegend zu laufen. Denn es gibt dann ja nur ein Kabel - das vom Kopfhörer.

    Some kind of equipment bag should also be considered, but hopefully the person will already have something suitable. @@FreeToUseSounds yeah I was surprised. It might be very limited time but for $400 it's tough to turn down. I appreciate all your content and I have learned so much from you guys.

      @@judgeworks3687 the built in microphones would be nice and I believe the Tascam has 4 combo XLR/line in jacks while the F3 has the 2 XLR only.
