    I just purchased and used the Speedcross 5 on an extremely steep mountain trail with loose dirt and rocks, and all I can say is wow. I was literally eating the mountain trails with the superior grip, and lockdown. First Salomon, and I think I might keep buying them. French engineering at its finest.

    I loved the SC5. The Contagrip TA had grip like no other shoe, but that sole also melted like it was ice. After 250km of mixed terrain -yes asphalt roads too-, the profile was gone. Use it on mud, sand, and snow. On rocky terrain, I don't expect them to last many miles and KM either. The heels also wore out rather quickly on both the SC5, the XA Pro 3D V8 and the Salomon X Ultra 3 GTX hiking shoe so I moved to Adidas for my mixed terrain walks and runs because of the soles and problems my foot has with Salomon heels.

      Contagirip sole on S/Lab Ultra 3 heel lugs completely gone after 150 km of rocky technical terrain. Loose over hard steep descending a total nightmare. Now with only 260 km on them I am left with 170 euro shoes not safe to walk the dog round the park in! La Sportiva and Vibram soles are the best overall soles IMHO.

    They're fine as slippers ! Used a few times on mixed trails (nothing extreme) two studs came off, one for each shoe. Don't go out if it hasn't rained because these delicate shoes break.

    What about wide version? I love SP 5, great in terrain, no blister, comfortable but after 400k, I get metatarsal pain running these even after 5km, new insoles didnt helped, had to completely switch to Altra/Saucony, now I can run pain-free 20k+.

      Hey. I don't know where you are based, but we sell wide versions of the speedcross at our store. www.runningxpert.com/en/salomon-men-s-speedcross-6-wide-417441.html
      Now Saucony and Altra aren't bad either. I personally find Saucony shoes to be best in class for my needs right now.

    can I use it for mountain biking as well? worried about the pedal pins to wore out and tear the outsole? what are thoughts?

    • @RunningXpert
      @RunningXpert  Před rokem +3

      Hey Athan,
      It could be used for mountain biking, but If I am not wrong the normal shoes that are used for mountain biking are a lot more flat underneath so that you can adjust your feet more while biking. This will be harder if you use a trail shoe.

    Did you guys know you can hide those mics by clipping them inside your t-shirts with the clip on the outside rather than the mic? I clip it to my bra when I film, but I'm guessing that's not an option for you lol! Thanks for the great review, about to run in mine in the Peak District!

    • @RunningXpert
      @RunningXpert  Před rokem +1

      Hey :D
      Thanks for the comment!
      We might have to start wearing bras :D! We have turned them around sometimes, but then they have a tendency to fall inwards towards our body, making a muffled sound, with our looser t-shirts. We are looking for alternative options to make then stand out less when we film.
      Hope you had a nice run in the new Speedcross 6.

      @@RunningXpert Lol yes, running bras for you! Ah I see, that does sound annoying! It's only because they were shining with the lights and it distracted me from all the good info you were talking about. Thanks for the awesome films for sure! Amazing what you do!

    Why can't they get rid of the pointy toebox.

    • @wildgingerruns

      Yes! Wide-fit toe box from Salomon would be amazing, I agree

    How can you trust a review from people that are making money from selling the shoes there showing?

    • @RunningXpert
      @RunningXpert  Před 6 měsíci

      Hey Jeremy’s.
      It’s true that we sell these shoes, but you also have to remember that we don’t live on one sale. We want the customers to be so satisfied with the purchase that they come back for more, and thus we want them to buy the right shoe for them. That’s why we do these reviews.
      If you aren’t sold on the idea, try some of our line-up videos where we try to compare each shoe from a brand. Those are very good for customers who want to figure out which shoes to buy.
      When it comes to the Speedcross 6. It is a great shoe. It really sticks to anything with a superb grip, but it is very firm underfoot and has a comfortable and thick upper.
      Some like that type of upper when it gets cold, some don’t like it if it gets too wet.
      Hope this helps.
      Lars

    The video only shows dust, so not trusting the muck flick out on heal kick, sounds like marketing waffle

    • @RunningXpert
      @RunningXpert  Před rokem

      Hey K O.
      When I tried the shoe for a month this summer it was the dry season. It sticks very well when it comes to this type of terrain, but it was so dry that I couldnøt find mud anywhere.
      Lately, Max, our insane trail runner (danish national team and 45 in the WC last weekend) tried it in a bit more wet and soft terrain as well, and it does stick extremely well to the ground.
      This is a no fuzz shoe for wet and cold days, the days where you need more grip, and not for those days when you want comfort from a soft midsole.
      Hope you have a great day.
      Lars

      Check out Wild Ginger Trail & Ultra Running review of the shoe. She runs a very muddy trail with a Speedcross 5 on one foot and a 6 on the other. There is a lot less mud on the 6.

    Soles are horrible studs come off just from standard walking. Just an 8 mile dog walk studs wore down or came off. A mix of asphalt concrete dirt trails and grass.
