If you read chinese history, homosexuality went on since the equivalent of ancient greek times and even gay marriage went on. The population would decrease by up to 90% during prolonged civil wars. But once peace and stability resumed the population would soon recover. This was while homosexuality was tolerated and almost every emperor in some dynasties would have male spouses.
3-5% of the population not having offspring doesn't make a huge difference given how many one male can sire in his lifetime.

Since there was also the fact that marriage was more about reproduction and money than anything else, so people of the same gender couldn’t marry-
And in all the things I read about real life relationships between two of the same gender, one of them (or both I think-) were also married to someone of the opposite sex-
All I read about was with royals tho, some in Ancient Rome and some more recent
For example, think about a king who loved another man while being married to a woman and having children-
It wasn’t very much about love and in these circumstances (a wealthy person married and with kids doing it), I think people didn’t think much of it-
So now that marriage is way more about love, I don’t see why they shouldn’t be able to marry ;;

@electricity Coming out is a way to tell people that I am who I am, and that I’m not going to pretend to be someone I’m not. It’s about self acceptance, and not always about confirming to someone that your gay.
Also people don’t come out to just their parents, so there is purpose in conforming that you’re gay to someone in that sense, even if “they can already tell”, which is not always true. Of course everyone has there own personal reasons to come out though.
Its not a sin, its not bad, Its not unnatural and its not perfect.

Actually, the helpful gay aunt/uncle theory says that homosexual people would have raised and taken care of orphaned children whose mothers died at birth or because of some other reason (1 out of three women died at birth in the past). This increases the chance of these children becoming adults who eventually would've had children of their own. So basically, what this theory says is that homosexuality existed in order to increase birth rate.
Imagine a mother who died during her third birth and the father disowned the kids so that he was able to find another possible mate and so her three children are now left behind which means that the possibility of them becoming adults has drastically decreased. Then imagine that a homosexual couple would step in and raise these children until they reached adulthood. This is an obvious win win, because the children who would've died can now have children of their own and continue populating the Earth with more human beings, and everyone knows that the more individuals of a same species there are, the more chances this species has to avoid extinction.

I've always asked the same question. I was convinced I was straight, seeing as I was never told otherwise, until puberty hit and I started feeling disgusted by the genitals of the opposite sex but found the same sex sexually attractive. I was never sexually abused, never had any bad relationships with the opposite sex, or anything like that. I still don't understand why, but I'm learning to accept it.

Scientists have found a combination of genes that influence sexuality. Many also believe that hormonal imbalances in the womb influences sexuality as well.

Well simple they have low levels of oxytocin and high levels of progesterone, thus they end being gay. If they have equal levels of both then they end being bisexual, if they have more oxytocin and less progesterone they end being heterosexual, simple enough.

Exuce me but I can't agree with this video. I major in Biology and from what i have learnt progesterone is not "the friendly hormone". The real purpose of this hormone is stopping the work of ovaries. It is in fact called "the hormone of pregnancy". It is not found neither men's or women's saliva. In fact this hormone is synthesized from an entety called "yellow body" (or i think it is called like that. I am not sure cause I am translating it from other language.) And like I said this "yellow body" stops the creation of new egg cell during the 3 months of pregnancy. Anyways I get that this is too long. The point I am trying to make is that I think maybe the name of the hormone was mistaken. Correct me if I am wrong.

Not really. More men are more likely to identify as gay or homosexual if they have high levels of progesterone. High levels of progesterone causes a higher production of estrogen(a more “female hormone”). Men need an adequate amount of the hormone/steroid to produce an adequate amount of testosterone to balance the two out. If these 3 (or even more )hormones are imbalanced during the sexual developmental stages, they may be affected.

I'm Roman Catholic and I do not believe that any individual part of the LGBT community is an abomination. They matter very much. They are their own individuals just like anyone else. I don't understand why it's offencive to anyone how someone else chooses to live their life and who they choose to lay in bed with it's no one's business. Everyone deserves to have love in their life and their love is there treasure. As a true Christian I believe that God has no gender. I believe that God is a huge blanket of energy and a wonderful feeling that words cannot express. Part of being a child of God is knowing that no matter what, you were made in His image and he is the best artist that ever existed. I am a very religious conservative who proudly stands with the LGBTQ+ community. I don’t like how some conservatives in the public eye have made us all seem so awful and disgusting to everyone else. I am a good person and would never hate anyone for who they are

The reason higher levels of progesterone only lead to homosexual behavior is because we live in an over-sexed society. In past generations and cultures, men were allowed to have close relationships with each other without any sexual connotations. A great example of this is captured in the friendship between Frodo and Sam. Yes, it's fictional, but those kind of affectionate relationships between men were more acceptable back then without having any overtones of sexual attraction. As it is, we have warped our brains to associate all feelings of closeness and love with sexual impulses, so men (or women) who feel these things begin to assume that they're gay. It isn't that progesterone _causes_ homosexuality, it's that we've distorted our thinking to oversexualize _everything_ involving our emotions.

Thanks for sharing some awesome scientific insight on why/how homosexuality exists in humans. Companionship and social bonding makes a lot of sense as another base drive for sexuality, on top of reproduction of course.

I've always wondered about the fact that some amphibians, at least, change sex as needed for survival of their species. It's possible that this trait was more common further back on the evolutionary trail, and that homosexuality in current species is a holdover from that due to the beneficial aspects that you stated.
