  • Nick Wright and Cris Carter discuss the benching of New York Giants quarterback for quarterback Daniel Jones and if Eli should request to be traded instead of mentoring the rookie. Eli has a no trade clause in his contract and has previously expressed no interest in playing for another team.

    I knew from the title "heated debate" that CC would be acting like a clown in the segment before I even watched it. When he isn't interrupting, he is acting like a condescending know-it- all. Eli can stay after, that's fine. Cris sit back and listen. Cris isn't making any good points. He's comparing apples to as nick said bowling ball's. He actually died that allot

      what cris is saying is as a athlete you develop the mentality that you can beat any odds so while eli probably knew at some point the kid would start he probably believed he could play well enough to hold him off for a year or two(i.e tom brady/jimmy g), and secondly no preparation you do gets you ready for when you lose something you’ve been doing for 15 consecutive years especially when you still believe you can do it.

  • @Rex93241
    @Rex93241 Před 4 lety +21

    There needs to be a new broadcaster for CC to mentor. Just because you played doesn’t immediately justify your opinion. Nick was 100% right here. Eli should have seen this coming. Eli may not have known when, but it was coming. Also, he better mentor the young QB for 22 million with no grumble about it.
    For 22 million he better answer any questions, texts, and phone calls whatever time of day or night that he gets them. Classy move by the organization to still pay Eli, so Eli better handle it in a classy manner.

    Hear me out on this because you have to consider what Nick witness from his favorite team. I know Alex Smith is not on Eli's level, but once they drafted Patrick Mahomes, Alex knee his job was about to be taken. He prepared mentally and also did his part to help Mahomes develop. His point is that you don't draft a QB in the top ten to not start at some point. Everyone knows that but CC wants to compare all scenarios to his from 20+ years ago as a WR

After the atrocious season last year, Eli DEFINITELY should have seen this coming. Then they drafted Daniel Jones, confirming they were nearing transition. CC comes off as completely unobjective and seems to give Eli's performance WAY more credit than he deserves. The Giants have gone above and beyond what most teams would do in response to (at best) average quarterback play. If Eli didn't expect to be benched at some point in the near future, then he's incredibly naive and lacks self-awareness. They've been a bad football team for years, and any other team would have changed QBs far sooner than now.

    Eli is 116 and 116. It's time. Better now than let it dip to below .500. It's been time for several seasons. Staying on to mentor Daniel Jones is something that he can do and it's really not so surprising. It's been a downhill slump for several years now For Elia and the Giants, but you can't take the two Super Bowls they won from them.
