Thank you (three years later!) for making this post. I need to do the exact same changeout, and while I am sort of handy, I have never done this type of work. My, very nice, over the range microwave broke last week and I have decided that having a range hood with light is the better option overall, even though I lose a little counter space to a new counter top microwave. I am so grateful for your video as it shows me exactly what I will be doing later this week.
I currently have a microwave range hood and the suction is almost nonexistent. Thank you for the video, it’s the most detailed one on CZcams in terms of taking the microwave range hood down as well as installing the new range hood.
I have the exact same model microwave and have purchased the exact same model range hood. Complete coincidence that I just ran across your video before I start the swap this weekend. This will help me immensely. So thank you!!!
Awesome vid! It was a huge help for installing my PS16 just now. Almost went for the PS18 after watching this video, then opted for PS16 instead. The instruction manual for the PS16 unit was definitely for the PS18 lmao. Turned out great! Thx
i know im asking randomly but does anybody know of a way to log back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb lost the login password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Jedidiah Cyrus i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im trying it out now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Thank you for your work, this helped me tremendously , I was skeptical about it doing my myself and was procrastinating , but this video drove the fear away. For me since distance was getting more than 30 inches between the burners and rangehood, I had to improvise with some additional wood structure between the rangehood and the existing upper cabinet. And the most difficult part for me was how to lift it to the right height later used a big 6 inch bolt to hang it first and then slowly one side at a time swapped with right size bolt.
Great Video on removal and installation, I will be installing the Hauslane UC-PS18-30 tomorrow! One thing I am going to do different for both phases of removal and installation and use my car jack with a plywood sandwich on the stove and for lifting the range hood into the proper location. Thanks !!
Nice video - thanks for sharing ! Waiting for my PS18 this week. In one of the steps for the screws that would hold the hood, those are slide on holes. Perhaps you could have screw to the wood and simply slide on. I suppose you still have to open the hood to tighten it, but at least u don't need that long drill extension. Great job - I have to do the same exact job too. Takeout my old microwave and put in the hood.
You are correct. Those are slide holes. I didn't trust my measurements, so screwing them on directly was a better option for me and for accuracy. Also depending on your under cabinet set up, you might have to drill another hole for the power cord. Good luck on the install this week. Thanks and take care...
Very nice guide, going to follow it to do the same in my house. Only one note: Should've painted the inside of those cabinets that the microwave was covering before the install.
@@diypotentials You helped me soo much! My son and I took down our microwave today just as you described in the video. Looking forward to putting up our range hood!
Wonderful video! I was afraid I might have to cut up cabinets to fit a hood in the space where the microwave is. It looks like they're a pretty standard size. Thank you!
Nice job. Am trying to replace existing stove vent and don't have the luxury of cabinet doors over the stove. Will have to cut a hole to reconnect the exhaust vent and refinish the outside. No contractor wanted to touch my job. To detailed and time consuming.. If there is a better way, please let me know before I start a bigger project. Am going to look and look for comments on internal exhaust with charcoal filters.
Very helpful, thanks. My microwave has a rectangular vent directly out the back so I have to figure out how to align the vent hood with the existing vent in the wall. Not sure how to tape that junction.
Hi, very good video. at 12:25 you show the duct pieces that attach to the top of the unit and then connect to the wall duct. Is the duct an 8" duct ? The wall duct looked smaller at 6" ? So does the fact that the ducting narrows to 6" reduce the maximum of 900 CFM ? Thank You :)
Great video, thank you! I'm curious what, if anything, you did to finish the unfinished sides of the cupboard that was previously hidden by the microwave. I'm going to have the same issue I think.
Thanks for commenting. I’m happy with the range hood. I sold the under cabinet microwave for $100 on Facebook marketplace and purchased a new countertop size microwave.
FYI, Since you have shown us motor oil box, I am assuming your change your oil yourself and have jack stands to lift your car. Use Jack stands to hold the microwave when removing it.
Great video! Just curious, where did you install the removed microwave? Shouldn’t that be hanged somewhere as it has fan and light on its bottom OR is it possible to remove that from the bottom of microwave and use it on countertop?

I have a cabinet with reessed bottom. How can I join a wide filler along sides? use glue and screw? or any method?
Very helpful, thanks. My microwave has a rectangular vent directly out the back so I have to figure out how to align the vent hood with the existing vent in the wall. Not sure how to tape that junction.

I have the same setup as you! Were you able to get the installation done?

Thank you! Good luck with the installation!

What is the distance between the bottom of the vent hood and the top of your range?
Great video! After a few months with it are you happy with the results? Also did you end up getting a new microwave?
Thanks for commenting. I’m happy with the range hood. I sold the under cabinet microwave for $100 on Facebook marketplace and purchased a new countertop size microwave.
What is the size of the exhaust hood?
How you install the micro oven now
Have there been any plans to cover the cabinet area that is now exposed? I am interest in hearing about what others have done.
I stained the exposed area to match the color of the cabinet. Thanks!
Excellent video. Just a curiosity, where do you put the microwave?
Thanks! I sold that microwave and purchased a countertop size microwave for replacement..
FYI, Since you have shown us motor oil box, I am assuming your change your oil yourself and have jack stands to lift your car. Use Jack stands to hold the microwave when removing it.

@@diypotentials Impressive job, I can't wait to change mine.
Awesome!!! Good luck on the install...
U should do a cooking video with the range hood
I’m not sure about my cooking ability. Thanks, though…
Great video! Just curious, where did you install the removed microwave? Shouldn’t that be hanged somewhere as it has fan and light on its bottom OR is it possible to remove that from the bottom of microwave and use it on countertop?
The removed microwave was too big for the countertop. I sold it for a $100 and bought a countertop size microwave oven. Thanks!
These range hoods are perfect for families that do heavy cooking. For example in asian households.
