Thanks for an interesting video. I am debating buying these rules for solo skirmish games and your review is very helpful. I’m going to give them a try.

I'm so envious, I'm still waiting for my copy. Thanks for the review!

Very insightful - thank you. I have received the 2nd edition but have not had time to read it yet. I'm pleased they have changed the lost activation rule as that was a weakness of the 1st edition in my opinion. I have also play A Viking in the Sun supplement which I enjoy but have not played the Crusade supplement (Outremer?). One thing to note, I feel, is that all the rules you mention are for a certain sized game and they are not so suitable for bigger battles with multi-based figures. For those I prefer Hail Caesar and Soldiers of God.

I tend to lean towards this smaller skirmish game level for some reason.

Thanks for the video. I 've had those rules for yonks but never looked at them. Your review makes me think I should dust 'em off and take a gander. I've played a couple of Dragon Rampant games hosted by others.
My choice for big battle ancient and medieval is "Might of Arms" an old set from the 80's, now free as .pdf. I bolt on period-specific house rules to give more flavour.
I've been s-lo-w-l-y painting two Never Mind The Bill Hook retinues and recently played my first game with someone else's figures. It's quite enjoyable.
A friend is trying to tempt me with Baron's Wars and I'm thinking of using it for the Anarchy to go with a long-stalled, 3/4-built motte and bailey castle project.

Is there much flavour between the different armies? Or are they the same but with different colours and flags.

There isn’t a great deal of difference, save what combos of troops they suggest in the lists. Any light infantry is just light infantry

Ron, how would the 2nd edition changes affect the supplement for the Crusades? Would it render them outdated? Cheers.

Not really familiar with the Crusades expansion, but I am sure it would still work with the2 Edition.
