Douglas Fir Rainforest At Cathedral Grove On Vancouver Island, Home Of The Ewok!!

Cathedral Grove is a rainforest on Vancouver island. It is located near Port Alberni. The forest has trees over 800yrs old, along with moss, lichen, and fungi. The ecology of the rainforest is a major factor in oxygen production for the planet.
The Qualicum winds came through the valley and blew over many of these titans. It has opened up the rainforest, providing more light onto the forest floor. Fallen trees become a nursery for new trees and plants to grow as well as provide food and shelter.
We take a walk through the rainforest exploring the ecology and observing the natural cycles of the forest. The ambiance of the forest, the smell, and sounds are a nice retreat in paradise.
