1956 mom, dad and family drove Big Bend. At one point we became blocked by an overturned logging truck. We’d arrived just in time to drive into the woods on a temporary drive-a-round situation. Remember down to Golden was one pothole after another. Gruelling shimmying gravel washboard needing grading. Next year and every year until they put in the Rogers Pass Northlander highway, we would take the Southern route thru Fernie, Cranbrook, Creston, Nelson, Castlegar, etc. Thanks very much for your video. 🎉 😅

I just spent three days camping near Revelstoke with my sister, and we took the drive up to The Mica Dam. We were at the boat launch of Swartz Creek, I believe, to the best of our knowledge anyway judging by the map book we had. I can’t even express how much it felt like the ‘end of the world’ lol. It is so desolate, remote and uninhabited; we had a very eerie sense that if we went missing, no one would know, and no one would ever find us. The wind was extreme, the water was brutal, smashing against the shore at the boat launch. Truly, unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. It was a wilderness that we generally do not have access to unless we venture off-grid, and this was something!

As a fellow Canadian, I can not thank you enough for all the tours you do. I have been watching your vids on Quebec and Northern Ontario recently. As someone who grew up in Northern Ontario, I have never been to BC, or anywhere out west. Everything is so different out there. Here in Northern Ontario, its all rock, and sediment, glacier till, moraine, and never ending lakes and forest. What is that material on the road side and hill sides at 11:00. Is it silt, till, if you could, explain how that area was formed geologically. I just want to say, I really enjoy watching your vids, it is a great service to this country by showing off all the great features are country has to off. I wish I wasnt dirt poor, I would love to help fund your tours.

The early history of the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) fits in with a lot of your videos. Below is a very brief and simple summary. The immediate idea to establish the RCM was to mint Klondike ores into gold coins. The legislation would authorize a RCM to hire people, purchase land & equipment, etc was approved about 1901. By that time, however, the Klondike had basically given out so the Gov't did not budget any money for the RCM. By 1906 things are looking a lot different! The Abiti gold belt production is now significant plus two years before, a silver refinery at Trail had opened. Gov't now funds the RCM to make it a practical reality. It opened in 1908 using Abiti gold and Trail silver for its precious metal coins! Trust you find this comment constructive. Keep up the good and interesting work! Regards Glenn.

Actually, DC works great for long distance power transmission. It uses the entire conductor rather than just the outside 8mm that 60Hz AC does. The problem is that until the modern era, it wasn’t practical to build the power electronics needed to run High Voltage DC and do the Rectification and Inversion efficiently. But many new long distance power lines are being built as HVDC.
