  • With the current grandMA3 software release 1.5 we offer a completely new tool that MA Lighting had not implemented before: A self-programming grandMA3 Startshow! You just need to patch some fixtures and you can start programming immediately - Groups, Presets and various Layouts are already predefined and can be used right away. This is a game changer, especially for the first experience with the grandMA3 lighting control systems!

This makes so much sense. Just hoping shows will not look to generic and we designers use this as a tool and not just presets

Is there a possibility to add new groups to the layout ? Like cook Group 7 to the presets and Layouts ?

Hi, yes you can just assign new group objects to the layout. To use the sequences and presets, the easiest way would be to copy the elements from a different group and then exchange the group in the respective recipes. Whenever you need some more support for this, just get back to your local distributor. They are very happy to help you.

How can use it in my current show to create this layouts?

      Hi Ilya,
thanks a lot for your request.
With the new Import/Export menu you could export layouts and import them in your show.
These layouts are based on sequences you have to adjust afterwards. So maybe you can also do it the other way round: You adjust the patch and you import the elements you need from your show?
Please do not hesitate to contact your local MA distributor - they will definitely be able to help you with this.

The cross layouts are not working for me in the position presets. Anyone got clues on why that would be happening?

    • @MALightingInt

      Hi David,
did you also put the fixtures to the Odd / Even groups? The cross positions can only work if these groups are filled as well.

@@MALightingInt Awesome, looks great now, I didn't really know what it meant the first time I read it. Thank you so much.
On another note, if you can answer, do you know why I can't see "MAgic presets" anywhere? I have seen some videos mention it.

      Hi David,
thanks a lot for your feedback!
Regarding the MAgic presets - they are very individually depending on your selection grid. So this is the reason why there are no presets with MAgic active in the startshow. Maybe the workflow to do this in short bullet points:
Place the fixtures in the selection grid
      Create the values
Store a preset and go to the Edit Settings to enable MAgic
Take a selection grid with the same fixture type
Call the preset and you will see the interpolation of values
      Hope that helps
