  • How to make Kombucha Fermented Tea. I've been making this probiotic rich beverage for some time now. After teaching how to make this to a small class of people in my kitchen I decided to do this video to help a broader audience. I know there are many people who have great videos about how to do this. My video is about my process that I've come up with to keep a constant supply of this amazing healthy drink in stock.
    Some people ask me where to buy the 1 gallon glass jars. I got mine second hand, so I can't say where to buy them other than an online supplier like Amazon. amzn.to/3YL5WPH

      First batch learning mistakes:
      1st fermentation 10 days (not enough) it is too cold in our house and scoby likes it when hotter.
      2e fermentation, poured 1/3 cup of juice in 500ml bottle (was too much juice) let it sit for 4 days and didn’t screw the lid tight enough so there is not much sparkling in bottles.
      Result, kombucha is sweet but very good and we see small scoby’s on top every bottles !
      Next will be 1/8 cup juice in 500ml bottle :). Can’t wait to try, we are day 9 of 1st fermentation today :).

      I suggest buying a kit on Amazon for like $30 if you’ve never made it before, because the process is so dang simple and you have everything you need. But sourcing all your stuff separately is fine too. The first time I made it I was so terrified of infecting my batch. Now? Lol I just yank scobys out of jars and always brew five gallons at one time. It’s not nearly as scary as it can seem. Within a month of making my first gallon I’d upscale to two. Then three. Then four. Now five. 😂

I also did Raspberry and now just started 10 bottles of Guava that was my Fav GT flavor... good luck it’s really rather easy I just received the flip top bottles I ordered from Amazon and they are great I just started a new batch lol

    Such a great video, I also love the Naked mango drink for the Kombucha! I have to say another way to grow a scoby which I have done was to buy a bottle of Kombucha. I used GT's Origninal Kombucha. I assume this works best with any non flavored kombucha. I poured the bottle in the mason jar, put a small rag on top of it with a rubber band. Let it sit for 4 - 5 weeks and I'm good to go with a new Scoby!.

      Hey! I got my scoby and kumbucha starter a week ago and i would like to ask you for some help. I searched everything i could find online, studied how it's made, got myself all ingreedients (scoby, kombucha starter, organic black tea, a big mason jar and unrefined cane sugar) and i strictly followed every tip i could find. My scoby sank imidiatelly and it doesn't seem to do anything, there are no bubbles and from the looks itself could be dead? I'm already making water and milk kefir for quite some time now and i'm doing quite well to keep little budies happy and healthy, so idk what i'm doing wrong with Kombucha... Here are some pictures if you can tell me something more. I would surely
      be grateful for it! :)

    • @richlaue
      @richlaue Před 6 lety

      ACV is a different bacteria, are you making vinegar or kumbucha.
      DWV is basically dead and at best will lower the PH slightly which might help prevent the wrong bacteria.
      My thought, if you don't have enough starter, then make a smaller batch.

    1 question - does the second fermentation process change the probiotics/health benefits/alcohol level? Or is it solely for taste?

    • @lesliegibbons1364
      @lesliegibbons1364 Před 4 lety +1

      Taylor Roth it doesn’t impact anything negatively but 2nd ferment is for you to choose your flavor and it also eats up more sugar by the fruit or juice you use. If you only ferment once(in your gallon) then it has no flavor and is less carbonated

    It is my first time making kombucha and I am just about to start my second fermentation in a day or two. I am not quite sure what to do once it is carbonated enough to store in the fridge. Do I just put it directly into the fridge from the pantry? Or do I have to open it then close before I put it into the fridge? Or open it, strain it and re-bottle it? I want to keep the carbonation, but I have never really been clear on this from all of the tutorials and videos I have been watching/reading. I always assumed you would just put it directly into the fridge after, but some other tutorials have confused me.
    BTW this is by far the best and most informative video I have watched! It made me confident enough to finally make my own.

    • @daddykirbs
      @daddykirbs  Před 7 lety +2

      Just move it from the pantry to the fridge :) You can loosen the lid for a second if you are worried about pressure build up. That won't eliminate all the carbonation in the beverage.
