Becoming an artist is a passion project in itself.

Does anyone really think not making personal projects?

Hard to fight the fear, would just like advice on how to manage those personal projects when starting from the ground up.

i'm trying to make an animated film! i've never really put real effort into animation before, but i have an idea and i really want to follow through with it! all i have is a free animation app and my finger, but i don't care!! i'm gonna get it done if it kills me!

I do a lot of personal projects, it landed me a job as a concept artist for a few months, getting paid per hour. It was pretty cool. You never know what just tuning your skills can do. Learning how to animate things and regularly trying new programs can be frustrating, but at the end it can feel amazing because you can look to someone working on a bigger project and genuinely help them. Your stuff doesn't have to be amazing, try not to turn your work into a profitable project right away but find ways to promote it, a lot of the time the reason you aren't getting attention no matter how good you are is due to the randomness of the internet. You DESERVE to make art and shouldn't feel the need to justify it to anyone.

For a while, I was not sure if I wanted to finish my comic. You helped me get back some confidence. Thanks

This video holds a lot of possible reasons to do a personal project... However, to apply it, I think a person should pick one, either focusing on learning, or focusing on developing a portfolio piece. I say this because finishing a personal project is A LOT OF WORK. And a lot of people don't finish when the objective of the project isn't clear from the get go. But none the less great video. I'll leave a like 👏

I've always loved writting. It's been almost a year since I finished my first novel, and I really had fun doing it.

I don't know what I like better. The actual tutorials, or the opening intro song.

Man, really you are an inspiration for me, this video its so
liberating, stirring and encouraging. You make me wake up from my frustration and fear, take my pencil and just create personal projects for how much fun it can be and the experience it gives. Sorry, it touch me feelings and that stuf.
Please continue to be that way, keep inspiring people,
and above be still a great person :").

Thank you for all you do--what you said has inspired me to continue a project I've been hesitant to do. I need to just try.

I stopped making sense of it a long time ago, but whenever I watch this video when I doubt myself about drawing, I start getting pumped up to draw again. It’s gotten to the point where I only watch this video on a loop when I draw. XD
