mine was because i was burning out and i felt like i wasn't putting enough effort and that my animated series deserved more than a beginner who didnt know much, i was 15 back then and wasnt experienced at all in animation and looking back, im still amazed that im satisfied with where it is, despite me gaining more knowledge and experience, i still look back to my animated series sometimes and feel happy, because despite the burnout, i was a happy kid who wanted to portray my own life in a way thats packaged in an animated series, with a name that didn't age well, there's one thing i would change about it and it's the name, it's not original and didn't age well. but that's it. im glad i did the series though, despite the burnout, or else i wouldnt be as satisfied or happy as i am right now. im glad to at least say "i did it, i made my passion project despite me being a beginner back then"

talent is everything. if you where not born with the brain juice required to be good at art you never will be. Only talented people blindly believe that it was all hard work and not genetics. i see people draw amazing anime art and other things. No sketch no boxes nothing and people say "he studied the fundementals" the is no way in hell that the person that just jumps in to a drawing no sketch nothin ever needed to draw a freakin box. He just knew how to do it. thats it.

The only thing tough in animation is getting a freaking idea i lose hope on like having a idea for my animation look you need to look at my animations my animations are boarderline ugly the worst animations ever seen or made by me a 11 year old boy (BTW i wish i was a girl) but thats not the point. The problem with me in animations is just having a creative idea for your animations if you already done with your first or second animation you decide to do more, but here's the problem you start to lose motivation for how ugly your art is, then you just burn out very very fast I'm not a ambitious person hehe well uhhh.... sometimes not a ambitious person. I just want to make my own show my own cartoon like show but i can't so don't stop me from never animating.

hi i have a question , what really is a storyboard and whats an animatic , whats the difference? the storyboards you show in the video look like a stop motion animation, in the industry practice are storyboards shown like this video? or as thumbnails and frames in photos .

Might try Toonsquid or Rough Animator out. I was one of the people who bought Procreate Dreams to animate again, but it was so frustrating to work so much that animating in the original procreate was easier...

Been using Photoshop since 2013 and did something almost kinda like this at one point. And man, there are a tone of layers to this, but worth it. You ever used Storyboard Pro before? Because I was considering in using it here sometime.

If you can draw using pen and paper, you're fine in the long run. Most animation studios will train you this software and give you license.

My life is a race against time... I try to make smaller projects because of this, (the emphasis is on TRY) but I am this kind of person, I dedicate to my project no matter what, and the project matures alongside me. I remember when I abandoned my first big project... my passion Project. It was one of the most painful decisions of my life, still it was also one of the most important ones... It taught me a lot.

if this is a movie i implore you to consider making this a full length film, or if its a tv show i want this show to get a green light for full production. i'm a sucker for dragons.

I have a question I been seeking for awhile I just don't know how to look for the answer, in a lot of animation roughs you can see the animator has left a aspects out, like a arm moving or a head turn, but they draw the rest. is this because they don't need to animate that or they can leave that for the in between animators? Im just looking for clarification.

Maturing past the project is SUCH a mood. It does make me really glad that the comic I did had a complete ending. I'm still working on book 2, but I'm just doing it as I feel like it haha.

If society wasn't the way it is now where money is everything to live a normal frugal life, we would have groups of animators helping each other complete projects without much focus on a salary and funds. People would help for the love of the project. The drive to improve in skill or the passion to be a part of something big. Projects wouldn't take as long to the point where we lose interest in it.

My life has moved out of the thing I was stuck in nowadays. One of the reallest videos I've seen... I've been trying to go back and finish some short films I've had on the backburner since 2018 and It really feels like I'm conflicted to try and add my current self into a story made by a different me... I think though that that can be the key- to really service the directorial voice of the "you" that initially made or conceived it- We can try and try and try to keep revising it over the years but it will likely never be "perfect" so long as we continue to grow as people, so perhaps better to let those artworks be a snapshot of your soul at that point in life...

Wow ! This one hits too close to home ! As a 43 yo unemployed (for the past 3 years) animation solo shorts director, Jack of all trades (fairly decent at storyboard, 2D anim, compositing, editing, and well, directing), and I've had 5 TV series projects/concepts that have been marinating at various levels of advancement in my head for the past decade. And it's just so painful to realize that within my lifetime, I will never have neither the time, nor the budget, network, and workforce to materialize them... So even though the creativity and the ideas are all there, motivation is close to zero, and I'm not even bothering trying to write them down, I just let them fester in my mind... And in turns, my mind is getting parasited by this constant "what if I could make them"... It's pretty damn painful... Thanks for putting words on what I've been feeling these past few years.

I understand this to a degree. That's why I haven't jumped into a project that I'm aware can take up a year of my life in a while. I fell into the trap of constant revisions as a result of my ambition. So, I've embarked on several smaller ventures that test my work speed, and gives me more artists to work with since we've established rapport. I too have ideas - I just want to make sure the idea i choose is one I'm less likely to abandon due to unrealistic ambition.

If the project is too large, hire someone to help.
