Home Free is an A capella group, every sound you hear is made with their voices. Many believe there background musical instruments but there are none. Take a look at some of their other work, Ring of Fire, Man of Constant Sorrow, and many others. The beatbox, Adam Rupp even has a drum solo on CZcams.

Still, they have toured the UK previously and will again, so keep a look out for their schedule when they resume touring. New subscriber here! Congratulations...it took a few seconds, but you're now a Home Fry! Home Free already has sooooo much wonderful music "in the can." This one was truly one of their best...but it's atypical.
Here, you had a one man solo (Austin Brown.) He's their high tenor. Rob Lundquist (wearing glasses) is the other tenor, and his voice has a totally different quality. The beat boxer is Adam Rupp. He's a founding member of the group, and has won worldwide beat boxing competitions (twice.) He can produce sounds that others can't even imagine. It's an excellent idea to listen to one of his "drum solos" early in your HF adventure. These are full-strength percussion-only performances that will help you understand how much goodness Adam adds to the "ordinary" full-group performances. The bearded member wearing a watch cap is Adam Chance. He's the newest member of the group, and to avoid confusion, they just call him Chance. Chance is a baritone/bass. Last, and CERTAINLY not least, you have Tim Foust, a basso profondo with a 5-octave range. At the bottom of his range, he blows out speaker cones and breaks things. Once, he brought down the ceiling (a chunk crashed onto the stage) during a concert.
When listening to Home Free, you will find that it's a VERY good idea to use headphones. Normally, five things are happening at the same time...and when Tim gets down into the basement, less expensive speakers can't reproduce his deepest bass notes!
One final suggestion -- save "Mayday" until you've heard at least 6 regular HF songs. You'll learn why when you get there...and will be very happy you waited.
    Welcome to Home Free!

@@candicefontaine276 Before HF released "When a Man Loves a Woman," most reactors' first exposure to HF was their cover of the 1963 Johnny Cash hit "Ring of Fire" or their rendition of a century-old Appalachian folk song "Man of Constant Sorrow" (which was most famously used in the 2000 film "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" starring George Clooney.) HF has released two (or more) versions of "Ring of Fire," but the best one was released July 2014 and features a guest appearance by Avi Kaplan, another enormously talented deep bass singer from the a cappella group Pentatonix.

I've always loved the late Percy Sledge's 1966 original (not so much Michael Bolton's cover - I thought it rather over-wrought). This was filmed during the Covid lockdowns - Austin's lady Amberly was in the studio and that's who he was looking at. Their harmonies & Adam's beatboxing are always perfect and Austin nails the lead on this one. Home Free is also ego-free - they don't have a lead singer, whomsoever sounds best singing it, does so.

Faust and Castellucci have mastered a technique (I can do enough of it to understand how it works, but I can't _sing_ with it) that allows them to cheat and actually sing subsonic pitches, where all you hear is a series of clicks instead of an actual tone, and they can integrate it seamlessly with their actual non-cheating singing voice to do things that are literally gut-wrenching when they have enough amplification.

Yeah they are all a cappella no instruments. You'll love their rendition of Mayday and A Man of Constant Sorrow.
If you like a cappella you should also check out the groups Pentatonix and Voiceplay. If you review them your subs will skyrocket !
