  • 8 poly cylinders are a son of a box topologically to negotiate with. Let's go over a silly nonsensical study I do to warm up to sub-d and ponder topological solutions.

Highpoly is heavy to make for computer, lowpoly is heavy to make for a human.
Sadly, Blender's viewport shading lost the reflective metalness specular (it is sort of glossy now), so it is way harder to detect precise curvature issues for 2.8+
As a result everything looks extreemely flat, an else one reason we don't use it for modeling.

aint that the truth. Gotta just make do with what is given.

The first mesh you did. Wouldn’t it be easier after adding the second cylinder to rotate it , so it matches the first cylinder segments a little bit more. This way avoiding tris? Great topo stuff!

Probably. With smart enough planning it could be a breeze

In the end does topo really matter? If engons and tris aren’t the worst why do we over obsess if we are just going to add sub surf after all you can fix the topo after

"So much work, but it'd just be pirated"
LOL. Yeah.. I think I've even seen people make pro tutorials w/ pirated software.

it almost promotes "not even trying". Which i can understand.
