    When we reviewed JVC's NZ8 and NZ9 models, we were highly impressed with their performance and they have been a top seller at Audio Advice since their introduction. Now, JVC is introducing new upgraded models, the NZ800 and NZ900, which feature their third-generation D-ILA chips, second-generation 8K e-shiftX, optimized BLU-Escent Laser light source for more lumens, and other video enhancements.

    I understand projectors are struggling against the 1000+ nits of the large screen tvs in HDR, but for the price point of these two projectors, why does JVC not spend the money to pay for the dolby vision license? It seems to me that dolby vision is winning the format war over HDR10+, and if they can map the HDR10+ to make it look good on a projected image, they can most likely also map the dolby vision. Thanks for the review!

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  Před měsícem +5

      They got back to us very fast. It turns out Dolby Vision has to know the max nits output, which is super simple with a TV, but that of course varies with screen size, screen gain, and throw distance so there is no way to give them a number.

    This is honest genuine advice by Audio Advice and that’s why I admire them.
    I bought the NZ8 4 months back. I have a 120 inch 2.35 screen in a totally light controlled room. I don’t see a point in upgrading right now. It’ll probably make sense to upgrade in a few years. Hopefully projectors will come in native cinema scope rather than 16:9.

      Big TVs are to hard to move and the screen is somewhat fragile and easy to break. I would not buy a TV larger than 85” after that short throw projector with a pop up screen up to 150” then a projector like these.

      Two different technologies, i.e. reflective (projectors) vs emissive (TVs). I personally find an image projected onto a screen more immersive.
