*Adrian Bliss in his numerous animal costumes for his Noah's ark skits stares in disappointment at Olly* 😂😂
Haha I love Adrian Bliss
He is hilarious!
prawn rolls are a popular chinese snack in southeast asia. it comprises of a fried springroll skin, wrapping dried shrimp that has been cooked with a mixture of spices and chillies (depending on where you get them), which is then deep fried. its most commonly eaten during chinese new year. love from singapore :))
Yeah, I eat those like crazy lol. Before I even know it half the bottle's gone 😂
My favourites during CNY is nian gao and fried crabmeat snacks!
I love them...the best ones are the nearly no frills bagged ones imported from SE Asia
I love them too! It might taste a bit fishy at first, but the crispiness from the fried spring roll really helps to balance it. In Indonesia it is called as 'sumpia udang'. We often serve it during CNY or you just simply have it at home as a snack.
@@athenatanyimin4035 you serve em in a bottle? Woah 🤯
love how Josh is literally wearing a summer vacation shirt while Ollie out there living late Christmas vibes
And wondering why he's sweating :>
@@eurogael exactly 😂😂
came to the comment section to write this but you beat me XDDDXDDDXDDDD
@@octopu5ie hahaha I was :FIRST 😂😂
Lol I had to search the comments to see if I was the only one who noticed! I’m so glad it wasn’t just me but a lot of people, and how did Ollie not notice?
Singaporean here! and the prawn spring roll is a real snack here! And yes, we do snack on it, but the taste is very subjective since it has a very strong fishy smell.
South East Asian take-home as snacks a day tasted good but not too much cause sore throat
yep
Indonesian here. I agree with you but the prawn roll depends on the prawn floss. If you got prawn rolls with fresh & better quality prawn floss, it won’t be fishy.
The fish crackers is the dope
singaporean here also :)
Ollie trying to pronounce “gyoza”, a Japanese word, in Korean is so funny lol
Hilarious! "In English it's gyoza I guess" Like no sweetie, it's Japanese
@@gateauxgato saying sweetie sounds condescending
@@greenmachine5600 it's not condescending, it's being sweet while politely correcting at the same time.
It CAN be condescending if that sort of tone is applied to the statement, but if you're just saying it in general, it's not a condescending statement on its own.
Aside from the fact that tone is hard to pick up from a typed comment or statement to begin with. 0.o
@@gateauxgato The first bit of pronouncing it with a korean accent was funny, but for that part I think josh meant that's how it's pronounced with an english accent
@@elusivegamergirl It could depend on context, but strangers don’t normally call each other sweetie lol... If someone is using it in a chiding statement, especially in the midst of an argument, it sounds quite condescending. Same with darling and honey. Sometimes people use it to make it seem like they’re not trying to be mean, in a sentence where they talk down to others. I would say even in the context it’s being used right now, it sounds condescending.
The Prawn Roll is made from dried prawns, quite prevalent in Asian cuisine. And yes, it really pongs 🤣 But I am THAT person who goes "I want a snack, gimme a prawn roll" 🤣
same istg that is the first thing i look for every CNY its so good
😂👌
true, prawn roll is one of my childhood fav snacks and still is
I have some in front of me :’)
Me too
So happy that the box finally reached you. This was from my closest friend, w. Thank you for making the pandemic easier for us.
Very cool! They look delicious! I'm not a fan of fish or anything that tastes fishy, but I do love salty, spicy, umami flavors. This sounds like a fish I could get behind 👍
Hi Sharlene! Do you mind tagging your friend who sent Jolly the packaging? I think the Irvins team would love to be in contact with him/her

"You would have been a rubbish Noah" earned my belly laugh of the day!🤣🤣🤣
Irvin's is BIG in Singapore, they even have a collab with Cotton On with their designs on shirts and stuff. It's a pretty premium product though, much pricier than regular crisps (though it's pretty worth it for the quality).
So expensive! I like it but I don't want to pay for it, lol
I have the Cotton On Irvin's shirt since the Irvin's bird is so cute!
The prawn rolls is actually a part of the snacks usually found in homes during CNY, but can also be a year-round snack. Its filling is what we call the "hae bee hiam", a Hokkien name which is translated as "spicy dried shrimp sambal".
This is also used as a culinary sauce, which goes well with kangkong (water spinach). As for the noodles, they were dead popular when it was initially released, but faded quickly because for me it was quite "jelak", a Malay term meaning that you'd get sick of eating something after awhile.
"Can you hard-boil a potato?"
"Is potato an element?"
Yes Ollie asking all those important questions 🤣🤣
We need an episode of Ollie doing science!
@@LizHellsing We need a whole series of that!

Might just say that Jolly episodes are dangerously addictive! 😝

Josh: We have a different fruit.
Ollie: POTATO
All the livers in the world just became an animal by itself after this video...
When my dad comes back from the Singapore, those snacks are a MUST to bring back home!
Prawn rolls are pretty normal in SEA countries. Over here, you can find a lot of those prawn rolls served at people’s houses when we celebrate Eid Mubarak and we usually snack on those along with other snacks. Its actually really good. But plain rolls are really good too. You just fry those rolls with nothing inside and sprinkle with salt and dried curry leaves(?). Its pretty addicting!

Careful tho. Those are pretty pricey. XD

hello from Singapore 🇸🇬!! i remember you guys trying the Salted Egg Fish Skin with Shandy and seeing this video, makes me realise how long ago that video was😭 I don't even like Salted Egg stuff but seeing your reactions to the food is very refreshing and you guys really made me laugh🤣🤣 Ollie: "Give me some skin" 🤣 Keep up the good work and hope to see you guys in Singapore 🇸🇬!!!💜
Same here! Also for them to try the McSpicy, which Josh left out the last time he went with Gabie.
Ay, Jolly trying one of the most expensive Singaporean snacks. (I'm not kidding, it costs about 8 Singaporean dollars, already expensive compared to the other snacks in Singapore.)
Wow, that is too bad. I love to eat fish and I was going to ask a friend to get me some bags. I will stay with fried small fishes with lemon then. Where I am from, there are small fishes that we eat fried as if they were chips and we get a lot of them and it is not expensive.
You guys NEED to try an actual salted egg by itself…. It really good. I normally have it with tomatoes, red onion, and cucumber with rice and like s grilled meat or grilled fish. Sooo good.
I like to just eat it without anything
salted egg with hot rice tho…. heaven on earth😋
Salted egg is amazing!!
Salted egg makes my rice taste so much better 😆
personally have it with porridge and various other sides, like pan-fried spam.
"reduced down to it's element! ... Is potato an element..??" LMAOOOO Ollie is so effortlessly funny
Yea Josh got it quite right, its actually dried shrimp that is blended into powder form and mixed in with some spices.
Usually quite the main character of the show during a Chinese New Year reunion in Malaysia and Singapore.
and it is easily, and i repeat very easily finished if one likes it.
I finished a bottle of that watching a 30min tv show episode....my throat does not like it after that

The prawn roll crackers remind me of a prawn crackers that i usually eat when i was a kid. The double decker brand.
I think this is the first Jolly video where the burps weren’t replaced with an eagle cry! 😂
Definitely the first I've seen where they burp so openly haha! Glad I wasn't the only one to miss the eagle cry
What's dangerously addictive is Josh advertising voice 😂😂😂 like (what is going around here 🤣)
Ah... Salted Egg Fish Skins. So good, so jelak, so many calories, so dangerous

OMG Irvins! As an Indonesian, when we go to Singapore, buying Irvins is a must haha.
Thank you Ollie and Josh for all the love and laughter. You and your friends and crew are a real blessing.
3:10 "if it was sponsored, very reasonable" 🤣🤣🤣 I'm on the way to work with a serious case of Monday blues but you made my day Ollie!!
They just knew what salted eggs are?? SO THEY NEVER TRIED THE ACTUAL SALTED EGG??
Come on, Jolly!!! Indonesian here, you NEED to try it.
(I eat it with plain white rice, its perfect as it is)
agreed!! or salted egg + tomatoes + fish sauce! 😋🇵🇭
Actually the did but they forgot. There is 1 episode with Uncle Roger in Jolly.
Boil a salted egg and it is perfect with porridge
Well somebody have to send them some for them to know about salted egg
Out of curiosity, how do they taste different from a regular hard boiled chicken egg crushed up with salt? That's always how I imagined they'd taste
I would love to see more “bloopers” or have longer videos I laugh so much while watching your videos. pls include more of the material you guys gathered while filming it would be so funny. Love you guys and the crew behind camera! 🥰😂☺️

Salted egg flavored fried chicken is freaking delicious, you guys should try uncommon flavors for fried chicken ☺️♥️
To be fair, salted egg ANYTHING is delicious. I mean, it even makes bitter gourd yummy
It's the best... I even make Udon and spaghetti with salted egg 🤤
salted egg chicken skin is freaking good too!!

In Malaysia, many start businesses from their homes. One that my family regularly buys from sells salted egg cornflakes. You don't eat it with milk, it is just something you munch on while watching the telly.
Thanks to JOLLY, I've really started broadening my horizons food-wise. Never knew how much I was missing out on!
It's funny how when Ollie burps at @6:24, they just left it as it is and even zoomed in on his face. But when Josh burped in the past, they dubbed the sound of an eagle over it and covered his mouth with a picture of it as well! 🤣🤣🤣
I'd destroy a whole container of prawn rolls every time I visit my friends for Chinese New Year or Hari Raya. I'm not Chinese nor Malay hence why I rarely get to eat it unless it's at a friends house. They are amazing especially if it's spicy. One of my favourite snacks ever.
Oh my! I'm laughing so hard right now. I've just realised that I move my mouth imitating you guys when you are tasting new products. I can't stop laughing. Best wishes to you and all the Jolly crew. An amazing video, as always.
Omg, the BEST Singaporean snacks, everrrrr!! The shrimp rolls are very much for Chinese New Year and are on the coffee tables in many households for visiting guests. But the fish skins, salted egg yolk chips are newish invented snacks - Irvins is the go to brand, but there are other snack companies out there too.
Honestly I'm so glad you did the sortedfood colab. Otherwise I would never have discovered your channels ❤️
Time to try the actual salted egg then. Its easy to do. I make my own, though not duck eggs but regular chicken eggs. Boil them for 6 to 7 minutes. Then boil equal parts of water and salt. Boil it to dissolve the salt. Let it cool. Place the cooked eggs in a glass container and top it with the cooled salted water. Leave it for 25 to 30 days. Enjoy it chopped with chopped onions and tomatoes.
I just got some from my mother and am looking forward to use them in some congee. They are raw though, not pre-boiled
Why u cook your egg? To make salted egg you start with raw egg. Put it in your brine for at least 3 weeks. To make sauce, you just use the yolk. I’d use the white to season rice congee.
I always thought it was salt cured egg YOLK, not the whole egg
@@MylkT1023 normally it’s the whole egg.
The salted egg recipes I've read cook them after brining, not before
This reminds me a lot of the "Wall of Fame" era in the JOLLY channel... they should do a second round and try more snacks and see which one is the best! Again! Or maybe instead of snacks, different spreads or national dishes! I know they've tried many national dishes, but seeing them rank them all and make a series out of it would be pretty fun to watch!
There's gonna be war, so probably not a good idea.
I am having a really hard time lately and you guys have saved me. Your videos bring light into my darkness. Thank you for the laughter and joy. I am almost done watching and 👍 every single video on all your channels. Much ❤️ and so grateful God brought your videos to me 🙏
some REALLY good prawn rolls can be soooo addictive it helps get you through the house visits during festive season haha
Def should try salted egg just by itself, along with its many other uses! You could put it in congee, and even try the salted egg custard bao (流沙包) found in many dim sum restaurants. Quite versatile :)
i'm always so happy when a new jolly episode comes out :D
These guys are the funniest ive been watching for a long time now. Love you guys so much
Every Chinese New Year I'm just holding onto a container of prawn rolls, snacking away xD my fav CNY snack
My mother used to make and sell salted duck eggs in our neighborhood in my younger days. We had a duck poultry in the past, all rejected eggs were made into salted eggs that will be sold to our neighbors and relatives. Me and my brothers were always the first to taste it after it’s done cooking before we sell it 😂
Our favorite is eating it with tomatoes, onions and lime. Just mixed it together, it’s really good 👍 😊
why were the eggs rejected in the first place? do you boil the eggs after or before brining/soaking in salt solution?
@@oxoelfoxo eggs with a little cracks, soft shells and if the size is too large or too small are all rejected. Boiling process are done after brining the eggs.
30 seconds in and Ollie referring to fish skins as shiny costumes has already made my day 😂
I'm honestly glad I found ur channel
This is a bit of a throwback! The singaporean snack video was a while back, glad to see another video on these snacks and more of such an interesting flavor, that being the Salted Egg flavoring. I might try and get some of those snacks for myself to try them!
I went through like 4 or 5 packets of salted egg fish skins, on a 2 day trip to singapore. And im not even ashamed !
IT WAS SO WORTH IT.
its so sad that i cant get it where i live now.
it is oddly addictive isn't it? it's a different type of crunch
Hey hrithika - where do you live? Just curious
Yayyy! jolly is backk :)
love from Indonesia
anyway those snacks look good
Growing up eating salted egg and prawn rolls, it is so entertaining watching their first reactions to these snacks!
Also did not realise Irvin’s has come up with soooo many new products now!!! Time to go back to Singapore!!!! ✈️
As a SEA, salted egg chips is one of my favourite snacks to have along with boba. I also love the salted egg by itself and dishes prepared with it. There’s even a sweet dessert called Liu Sha Bao that’s like a custard salted egg lava bun that’s just phenomenal.
I love salted eggs, they're so good as a topping or just a little something more as a flavoring. You guys have to try the actual thing at some point.
What a great video to watch after breaking my fast. Anyways as someone from SEA, I think I speak for almost everyone that we do love salted eggs and yk next time maybe try the real salted eggs
Their remarks are the best and the most awaited haha. Especially, Ollie's. As always, I'm thankful to every video you guys upload. Thank you JOLLY! See you JOLLY soon~
I love Olly so much! That potato bit had me creasing. Always so funny
I woke up just in time 😂 y’all are amazing
Oh what a jolly monday!
Ollie's words aren't even scripted. How is it that everything that comes out of his mouth is pure Gold? All great lines that will look fantastic on t-shirts.
Just Ollie starting the video with Voguing. Classic Ollie. LOVE ITTT
Lol at Ollie’s face during the “unpaid advert” announcement
I used to live in Singapore and as much as Irvins taste great, I just think they're overpriced 😅 the prawn rolls however, is the GOAT! It's an acquired taste but is very normal on a South East Asian cuisine. I personally love it.
The snacks are usually flavoured with the egg yolk of the salted egg only. Usually the eggs are hard-boiled, cut by half along with the shell, then the egg white and egg yolk are scooped out and eaten with congee. That is one of usual way to eat the salted egg. During mid-autumn festival, the egg yolk is used as filling in the mooncake. The mooncake is filled with sweetened lotus seed paste (there are mooncake with sweetened red bean paste filling), with the yolk in the center of the filling itself. The festival is observed by Chinese, and similar celebration also can be found in Korea, Japan and Vietnam.
I love the way they have no problem sharing, like even a burger. Cause they’re best friends, probably closer to brothers, and they know it is fine. Yet it reminds me of that clip where a politician just touched the elbow of another and the guy that was touched had to begin to loudly say “I am a married man!!’
As a Japanese speaker, I was so confused by how Josh said “gyoza” until I realized he was bringing in his Chinese pronunciation. Now I see…
I highly recommend salted egg wafer biscuits (you likely had the sweet version as kids) they are savory and just a thing of beauty.
Love this snack so much.
Salmon is not "just another fish!" Try line-caught Pacific salmon that's been cooked skin-side down until the skin is crisp. So, so good!
Sad that they hate prawn rolls. Sumpia is so good
Luke's inputs are amazing
2:08 That's THE most relatable reaction to a food i think i've ever seen.
"That is more bland and I'm absolutely loving it" how British can Ollie be 🤣
Yeah, no. I don't taste my food and say 'thats nice and bland'. Or 'not bland' enough add tap water. It's a stereotype from rationing during ww2.
Now that you’ve both tried salted egg snacks, you should give the actual salted egg a go!
If you’d like to be more adventurous, try century eggs 👀
Those are addictive!!!! My bf loves the prawn rolls and I love the salted egg everything
I love that Ollie's burps are much more gentle compared to Josh's that no eagle cries are needed

Singaporean here 🇸🇬. I can definitively say that Irvins is super overhyped. There are much better alternatives to get your salted egg yolk fix in Singapore, it’s just that Irvins is much more readily available.
Exactly. When it started it wasn't so expensive. They became so.overpriced. I can buy "non branded" salted fish skin elsewhere
I prefer the Golden Duck brand and Crusry brand over Irvins
@@jessicalau3152 appreciate your reply :). just to clarify, since IRVINS started selling in 2014, we always sold our 105g packs at SGD 8.00 and 230g packs at SGD 16.00. never changed the price, even when everyone else does :)
fun fact : indomie released a salted egg flavored instant noodle way back when, it's discontinued now due to luke warm response , which is a shame because personally i think it's delicious.
It divided the nation though, there are people who like it, and there are people who really really hate it. I haven't tried it to be honest, but lots of my friends said their burps smell like salted egg even hours after they ate the noodle.
Josh and Ollie should've tasted that though, since they're a hardcore fan of Indomie Mie Goreng...
@@MelisaWijaya it is quite polarizing isn't it lol, and the burp thing is kinda true, but worth it in my opinion.
and i agree Jolly should try it, if they can find one. that would be an interesting episode. but i have a feeling that ollie would hate it.
The nasi goreng you had with Nigel had dried shrimp in it too,
So the prawn roll is just the intense version where shrimp fried in sambal/shrimp paste (aka chili not so jam) is wrapped in spring roll skin and deep fried.

Can we talk about the snack animation??? So adorable!
It blows my mind sometimes that the concept of "Salted Egg" isn't common in the other side of the world and just the description amazes them. I'm from the Philippines and i eat salted egg for dinner or lunch about 4 timea a week because i love it.
