Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 23 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 2 decades, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

That bathroom transformed into a jewel box ~ the copper & gold tub looks so inviting set in that colorful wallpaper. Brilliant thinking to reuse the doors as paneling, and to use waterproof parquet. As always your finishing touches are whimsical and fit the space so well. Magnifique Vivian!

Your journey with these rooms starting out in their stripped down skeleton-status to where you catapult them into the final glorious end for each one of them, gives and brings hope to us at home trying to do some renovations as well. So beautiful, what a dreamy bathroom :) for the mirrored door maybe if you framed the mirrors with a thin white trim it would finish it off, just an idea :)
What a huge job!!! It’s gorgeous!! That bathroom is delightful. A few suggestions: hook for robes on the frame of the door?
Shorten the curtain. Maybe even add a ruffle or replace with lace, very Art Nouveau. You’d only need a tiny piece.
Paint the long shelf the same color as the background wallpaper. You can add a strip of molding along the shelf to add a decorative element and make it more impressive.

I thought the big reveal was going to feature you and Simon taking a bubble bath in that glorious tub! The bathroom is simply marvelous, and that tub is perfection. By the way, every morning I awake to St. Joan next to by bed (I put her in an antique frame with ancient glass), and when I get up I can view Chatelain de Jour, and Chatelain de Nuit in my bathroom while I, well, when I'm preparing to face the day. A wonderful video, thanks for brightening my evening!

Looks absolutely visionary. But on the side of caution. I’d get some corking silicone between the tile edge you cut, in and around the gap at edge where the paneling cuts in to fill that little gap.
