TR Hamza Really liking your videos. Keep doing cars we can realisticly afford. Great content again! I Used to watch archie hamiltons but now hes changed his content to "me me me, look what i have been given for free " and its boring now. So keep it up!
Bought one a year ago and absolutely love it, I'd go as far as to say one of the bedt all rounders you can buy: looks great, loads if equipment, fast, handles great and brilliant build quality. Would recommend to anyone who wants the fun of a hot hatch without the running costs
I find that most diesels now are more refined than their petrol counterparts. For everyday driving this will feel faster than a GTI. It's all about the torque.
Your honest review is spot. I'm a GTD owner and like many GTD owners, there is no way I would compare this car to a GTi. I got mine because of the looks and more importantly the fuel economy. I've had my fair share of fast cars. So I will stick with what I've got. Have subscribed.....
i have a leon fr 184 diesel, ive had it remapped, now has 230 hp, and 465nm torque, its proper quick and get 40mpg around town, lowered it with eibach springs, looks and handles very well, great car unbeatable for the money.
Is seriously like the Gtd for what it is. I used to think that the Gtd are owned by people who work in offices (which is still is) but now the Gte will soon be the car of choice for them. I have driven one of these briefly and they’re such lovely cars. The quality and aesthetically they have done really well and vw have excelled massively in the recent years. Nice video bro. I like how you’re exploring different things comparing cars and finding out yourself the purpose of a car in such short given time which shows the signs of an upcoming youtuber. Soon hit stardom as I have always said. Take care and can’t wait for the next vid!
Loved the review man 👍🏻I have a GTD pre-facelift and can honestly say it's one of the best cars I have driven (comfort, practicality and handling wise). I would have gone for the R or GTI, but with a young family we are looking at economy. That said, I like my cars, and I can still have a bit of fun in this! My first two cars were Golf 1s (which I wish I still had now!) - it feels great to be back in a Golf 👍🏻
Where are you from bro? I ask this because we're literally the same person 😂🤞.. My 1st car was a VW MK1 1.6i and I now have a Mk7.5 GTD in white and I WISH I still had my Mk1... I'm from *DURBAN , SOUTH AFRICA* by the way 🇿🇦 ✊
Been waiting for you to review the GTD! Agree with what you said, i commute 95 miles per day and i get great mileage (57-60mpg on motorway) then enough power to make it fun driving elsewhere
i had the mk7 gtd with dsg with stage 1 revo and averaged 37mpg when driven nice 32ish when messy around (was same pre remap). do you have a manual?. not really the best mpg if I'm honest 330d does 40 mpg when you drive it like you stole it. i alway put bad mpg down to the dsg if i got anywhere close to your mpg id more then likely still have it
plenty of these in bradford and most of them are only doing short trips from one street to the next,a complete waste of a gtd car but a good car and a warm hot hatch.
Ain't short journeys bad for newer diesels with a DPF? I drive a diesel fiesta however that has no DPF plus I blanked the EGR so hopefully no soot build up. I do between 1000-3000 miles annually
TR Hamza, Another great car review of yours, thanks ;-) I have both the Golf GTD mk7 DSG and Golf R mk7.5 DSG. The GTD just pulls and pulls when effortlessly accelerating when other petrol sports cars I have owned are much more shouty and frantic about how they reach their motorway speeds, the GTD just feels comfortably lazy in a good way by comparison. Like you say, this is due to the GTD's performance being much lower down in the rev range. I love both my Golf's, GTD & R and both have great qualities. Where the GTD does really make me smile after a fast drive is the great return on MPG, I always chuckle to think "no way is that possible to get such good MPG after driving fast on a long journey". The R was never expected to deliver anything to report on positively on MPG - it's just outright epic performance, period. Keep up the great reviews. Thanks, AJ
They are an excellent car. I had two pre-facelift 5 door manuals in relatively quick sucession as company cars.... a 2014 which I was loaned whilst my ordered car was built....mine was a 2015 that had the nav, winter pack and kessy as additional standard kit. The loaner was ace, my car was a Friday afternoon car and went wrong ALOT.....I ended up getting shot when the e-brake developed a habit of deactivating when opening the drivers door to get out...having to chase a car down the road with your child still strapped in the back....not fun!! But aside...look great, v comfortable...now v well spec'd and you probably get 90% of the GTI experience (bar the extra nose weight dynamically v similar) with less running costs. 184 TDI motor excellent...effective rather than involving but made for a fast relaxed motorway cruiser. Still they like to rev and sound reasonably good for a diesel too. Handling is great....think they are almost too polished.....can travel A to B at massive pace but a bit dull as the car does all the work and you dont feel like you are really contributing...again super effective rather than being genuinely fun. Its a warm hatch, but an excellent one. Id still choose one over a GTE because dynamically it shades it big style, but I have a 6C Polo GTI now and whilst its arguably not the better car...its a far better (and faster) hot hatch.
I've got a pre facelift GTD DTUK tuned to 240bhp and 400lb-ft in manual. Its a torque monster and excellent on fuel not to mention the awesome styling. Just ordered a Cupra 300 DSG because I fancied a change and still wanted front wheel drive for now. I also think the standard spec is much better than the 7.5R. As an all rounder though the GTD is just awesome. I've had mine 2 years and it still puts a smile on my face. Awesome video as always bro.
Thanks, local places around me was saying lhey could take it from 170 to 205 and 400 ft pound but my goal figure is 250. I guess I just have to look around

@@termayo local with sensible driving you’ll get around 30-35 mpg and motorway driving upto 50 mpg. Also I have installed a K&N air filter in it which has took the BHP to slightly over 240 BHP and done quite a few interior mods as well as one or two exterior mods .
Just brought a gtd yesterday worth money best car I've brought so far had BMW and Ford and Volkswagen beats it by far road tax of £20 per year cant beat it and sounds better than what it does on video love this car money worth spending

Wow! Good review bro... you have actually sold me a GTD or like you would say GED 🤓 all being well picking it up at the weekend. Keep up the good work. Thanks

Only thing letting down golfs is the boot size, i went to test drive a 2018 GTD this morning and it was a great drive. But i wasn’t impressed with the boot space, my old mk5 had poor boot space too when compared the fords. However having owned both a golf and a focus. I would say the golf is a much more refined car overall.
Want to try a GTD with the sport and sound pack with a tune and a pedal box? You'd be surprised by the sound and the go and I drive those roads every day.
Nice, man can't wait to get one.
Enjoy your vids.. Subbed!

Suhail.PET Thank you brother
be interesting to compare that to a GTE, I drove a Zipcar GTE and it was quite brisk in GTE mode
MK7 looks nicer. The stock alloys are a lot

"You can easily perform overtakes and you can tailgate too" hahaha
Relevant review. So many of these about.
Just got rid of my mk6 gti for one of these, it’s one amazing car and feels way faster than my gti did probably because of the torque, very pleased with my gtd though
Any issues after a year I'm looking at low milage ones now
@@joelk7424 actually a month away from being 2 years since I got it, and nothing has gone wrong with it at all, apart from a headlight bulb went other week
@@vIMONST3RIv OK thanks. Is there enough power compared to a 420d or other options
@@joelk7424 never drove one of them tbh pal but it seemed quicker than my mk6 did, gtds are 180 bhp
I'm in between getting a gti or a gtd, do you have any insights on which to get? Did you notice much fuel consumption difference between them? Thanks!
Keep up the good videos up there too samey. Maybe go on a long adventure to Scotland wales maybe even paris. But yh keep it up 👍🏼
D Star these review type videos are meant to be similar for consistency, I will do some more adventurous vlog style videos when I get time 👍🏼
