VOMIR is the king of the militant subgenre of noise called harsh noise wall. It was a pleasure and somewhat of a surprise to have him open up so much during our chat, giving me a chance to meet the man behind the bag.
Opening track: VOMIR - Noise For The Nothing Unity - vomir.bandcamp.com/album/nois...

    Not going to lie
I gained more respect for him not only as a musician but as a human.
Very intelligent in what he speaks.
    Thanks for this interview.

at around 38:00 when he's talking about the electricity in himself and in the machines and in the sound and in the audience and how this all interacts. That is what noise is all about. He gets it. Even when it's not harsh noise wall, this is all still happening, but with HNW this is when the phenomenon of the experience is at its most raw.

Great interview from the french pionneer of HNW...I feel lucky having done 2 splits with VOMIR, as a french-Canadian, you see that noise as no-language or particular identity, very interesting, thanks WCN! 🙂

I'm a noise artist from 2013/2014, I want to thank you so much for this project and this podcast!
16:46 Sometimes I think that in the noise community, many of the players or listeners are pretentious and rude, they think to know everything about it, can we just listen and support every project without stupid criticism? I think it's better. But this is only my opinion.

I didn't realise Vomir is a French band! I thought the name was some Eastern European name. So it is Vomir as in puking! Nice...

Sick episode. First listen to the podcast, but will definitely subscribe. The part about the potentially soothing, therapeutic aspects of HNW about an hr in, that's how I have been approaching it lately. Stops the voices!

I had an issue with the label of hnw at first I thought oh this is just a way to stand out from other artists cos I heard the technique previously within some tracks of harsh noise artists.but listening to vomir speak was a great eye opener and there is a clear difference in styles on mass

I’ve been listening to merzbow for 25 years or so , and loads of noise over the years , dark ambient etc , but I’ve never been able to really understand why some of the artists use the imagery of sexual deviants. and murdered , and or victimized , I love the textures and power but I don’t understand what the artist intends , sometimes it seems like they are promoting barbarism ,

The idea of transgressing society's norms have been a central part of this music going all the way back to the days of Dada. They play around with topics of violence, deviance, fascism, etc... because they WANT you to be made uncomfortable. Because these things are all REAL. These haven't disappeared no matter what we have tried, and the statement isn't that we should ignore them; we should lay the ugly parts of our world bare so that we might confront them.
