I could listen to this man speak all day.. So much knowledge, you don't have to say a word, just listen, and try.. That's what great teaches provide!
+ShowMe TheSugarWalls - I agree (thumbs up). I am not an expert on Boxing (unlike Show Jumping horses I know quiet a bit ;-). But B.H. (Bernard Hopkins) The Oldest WORLD CHAMPION at 49 would be my role model if I was taking up fighting (boxing) as a teenage or just in 20's. I got better as I got older. This man (B.H.) got far better at 48 & 49 World Champion it's like a Fairytale stuff. they should make a great film about B.H. he did 5 years of a 12 year sentence for robbery and as he was leaving the prison the ol' governor say: it wouldn't be long till you are back. Bernard said: "I Will Never Be Back!"
I like the old school style of boxing. The heavy bag is the oldest school besides the speed bag, skipping, shadow boxing. Nothing compares to a boxing workout.
It's all basics 💯
B- HOP IS A LIVING LEGEND! BOXING ROYALTY!
+ANTPHRESSH
shuddup its all bout ihop
Hopkins seems like a nice person and a natural teacher of the sweet science. Would kill for the chance for him to improve my skills.
From the streets off Philly getting stabbed up and fights ..hitting the joint ..and now a successful retired business man/boxer ... partners with one of the biggest boxing Promoter GOLDENBOY . Good job bhop/alien
Starting at 5:31 that is the real golden knowledge there. Too much people go off on the bag without discipline and control
Excellent video. Thank you for information.
its great that these are videos now
Love those Philly gyms, look at George Benton posters and Gypsy Joe Harris in the background
+Bun B yh man benton was slick
You my friend, know boxing.
God bless you champ, and tank your so much
Dope,Bernard is a master at what he does.
Bhop has great form chin down glove up even when punching a bag
gotta protect that knockout button -my trainer
Ryan Oros I never seen any boxer with their chin up hitting the bag
wise words from the great one..
Look, no question this man knows his shit. He's a legend. But I have to disagree with " for power only" idea on the bag. Yes of course you wanna give it a few good smacks through out the workout, but look at floyds routine in the bag. You can work on, timing, accuarcy and precision and speed ( I'm not talking about 100 hits in 50 seconds). And the bag can hit you back if you know how to let it hit you back. But sparring is the best workout IMO.
+S. Gallo Hi, i agree with you, even when B HOP is using the heavy bag, he s not focus on power punches, no?
+S. Gallo I dont like this video he talks to much and he throw punches but he does not explain how to properly throw, land and return to defensive position. His jab was weak and slow, not saying he can't fight but he can't teach. The best is sparring and shadow boxing! Remember the best technique is the basics.
What he's trying to say is that the bag is one of the only elements in the gym that allows you to properly throw bombs which I wouldn't do to a sparring partner imo.
Yeah but WHO THE FOOK ARE YOU?! @OPERATOR BITCHHH
wow.. maybe u shld fight him mr pro
Awesome post
is this a instructional dvd or something? would like to buy one if so... would love to learn from such boxing legends since im currently training without a coach
As a strength and conditioning specialist boxing 🥊 is very great as athletes train recover move towards goals
Agreed
B HOP the Executioner is a bad motherfo
Sir, Mr. Hopkins. You"ve Changed From A, U Know, 2 Now. GOD Has Blessed U Truly. I C U As Someone That I Can Truly, Believe IN. I TRUST ONLY ONE. Please, Do Not Fail The Good & Humble People. U Have fought & Absorbed So Much. B Good Forever, I've Lost, & Won Also.
I Am No One Yet I Am Everyone. GOD BLESS YOU, 4 All Eternities.
Power and placement. I wish there was more on size of bag.
4:46: These super slick cutaways are hard to keep up with. Slow the graphics and the music down so we have a chance,
OG!!!
Professor Bernard Hopkins, PhD.
The most technical and intelligent fighter in his division. Roy Jones is more on speed, Hopkins is more in Technical skills!
Proper cool dude, hopkins for next USA president
B HOP baby, legend status
LOL, at first glance I thought it was mike Tyson in the thumbnail !! LOL
U dumb m8
I said at first glance... you do know what that means right??? If so, then i'm dumb cuz I thought it was mike Tyson who is another black man, another boxer in a boxer video, both are bald, yeah too many similarities to confuse the two at a glance in a thumbnail pic.. which is a small pic at that.... yeah that's being "dumb" ok.
there is a resemblance especially in the thumbnail
Often in video' is explained how and why something is done, but almost never is told how much time should be spend on it...
the longer version heavy bag is fucking more heavy
And there you go perfectly executed the rule of the game is to hit and not get hit via (Mayweather) thank you B-hop
At first I thought that bag weighed about as much as a box of tea-bags but it's dangling off a 10 foot chain. Still looks a bit puny, like. As mentioned below, the heavy bag is not purely about power, it's about whatever you want it to be. I can't think of anything that you can't drill on a heavy bag. It's obviously great for power, but also speed, technique and movement. Like the legend says, it's got no arms, so you need more than a bag, like a sparring partner, speed ball or a floor to ceiling inflatable but that's stating the obvious.
I wonder what size gloves are the best for working out on the heavy bag, I use 16oz but I'm thinking of going smaller, is that a good idea?
Stick to the 16 oz gloves on the heavy bag to avoid injuring your knuckles and wrists.
who throws a sharper 1,2,3 in boxing? At any age Hopkins is the most technically sound while remaining fast and strong. His punches are so economical no fat and no extra unnecessary movement or telegraphing. If you were to emulate his style and approach to boxing you'd be giving yourself the best chance of being a champion
This camera work is very annoying with the microphones in the shot. Cmon cameraman
I guess I got punched out several times in my kickboxing class lol! Tfs!
b hop looks just like mike ttson
He look like floyd in the thumbnail lol
heavy bags I hit hit back
What happened to his tooth?
As many punches come his way it happens. He'll probably replace them after he retires.
the tooth fairy came and took it away
Solid defensive fighter but former Welterweight Champ Marlon Starling was the BEST IN THE POCKET defensive fighter in the last 35 years. IMO
there are vids of him on youtube. im watching him vs Floyd mayweather sr and he does look very hard to hit.
you can see the effects the punches have had on his mind
GamingLoadown101 He's a fucking boxer what do you expect? Everyone knows getting punched in the head damages your brain. Yet millions of people still box. There's a chance you could die or get brain damage in your first amateur fight, does this mean no one should box? B-Hop is a legendary boxer, let him decide when he wants to stop boxing. You're more likely to die in a car crash than in a boxing match
GamingLoadown101 Oh really? Where can I see that? I must have missed it.
+GamingLoadown101 No I think that's just his personality. Dudes crazy in a good way
You realize in his whole career he hasn't suffered any major injuries to his head? With all his achievements, for me, it's a fucking miracle he can "speak to me" in a youtube video about boxing and I not only understand everything being a complete amateur but I have an urge to try everything out.
But you've said it one year ago. Maybe since then you know more about boxing. Or anything for that matter.
most of it is common sense
lol hand akrit
Lol hopkins loves to talk
Not a heavy bag... it’s moving all over the place?
52 seconds of worthless intro....speaking of old school!
where's the footwork? I whant to see Mr. Hopkins footwork! not his face!
U know the drill they filmed this for 'boxing experts' from the comfort of their armchairs.
bullshit...you can easily use a heavy bag for speed....
I won't subscribe thanks. Your intro was to long as unnerving
