      Have had one for about a month. Nice light. They do sell with and without the external charger (usb cable with batteries only ), but I think the charger is worth the extra money. If you have one of the older chargers from streamlight it should work as well. Got mine for $175 with the charger. I use the charger in the car as well. Love the light switch on the front to switch from low medium to high. Descent run time even on high.

    I've been using a Strion HL for the past 5 years as a LEO, it's been run over, fallen off a car, thrown, used as a hammer... and still runs like a champ. Only recently did the LED fail on it, sent it to Streamlight and aside from shipping costs, they replaced the whole head on the light and a new switch for free and it's like new again. Can't beat that. Streamlight is the best bang for the buck in the light market.

      Here to echo that streamlight has excellent customer service. Called in to them about buying a rear battery door and pin for a tlr1 hl that I broke, and then lost the pin. Couldn't find both on the website, she put me on hold for a few minutes, then asked for my address. I even asked how much, no charge... So I gave streamlights for xmas😂

      Idk they have issues they should address. I’ve owned 3 streamlights and my brother had 2 and the tail caps went bad on all of them and twice on my strion. They have frequent problems with tail caps to the point it’s unacceptable. Idk if they have corrected it or not on newer models but I’ll stay away from streamlight myself.

    Had a chance to handle one and it's an excellent work light. I'll probably buy it on impulse eventually but my old beat to crap 75613 Stinger works great. However, I've moved on to more pocket friendly EDC lights. The Microstream USB rechargeable was super handy until I lost it but replaced it with a RovyVon Aurora A29 Brass (easier to spot). The Streamlight Knucklehead is probably my most useful worklight but the new Flipmate (and the Fenix WT20R) looks like another winner. I work on cars all day (collision/PDR) and a flashlight is a tool for me and not exactly a hobby. And a well made tool really makes a huge difference. The cheap little Nitecore Thumb with the tiltable head is another great tool that's used often. Well, looking at my small collection of flashlights, it's become an unintentional hobby. :P

Had a pack of coyotes getting really close and noisy to our campsite in the Big Bend Ranch State Park (really remote, nicknamed "The Other Side of Nowhere") that I believe were interested in eating our young dog. Stood on a bench and swept the draw they were in with the strobe function. We didn't hear those coyotes for the remaining three days we were there...

However my use would be considered abuse by a lot of people it gets dropper in oil coolant regularly. Also subject to being on for lengthy periods of time. Gets dropped on a tile shop floor about 4 times a day. Get hit with some very harsh solvents frome brake cleaner. To de-carb cleaners. Its a good light im just very hard on them.

    on the strobe being hard to activate. GOOD! I can assume this is intentional by streamlight. I have been carrying a stinger for many years on the job. I am on my second one in 12 years, and the old one still works, its just not bright like my newer one. I beat the shit out of them. They never die. Strobe coming on when you wanted solid light happens. Strobe isn't something we use often, so having it harder to activate will reduce unintentional activation. So, its a good thing, and more than likely intentional by the manufacture.

      I have used a Streamlight Stinger HL for years as a mechanic. It's been submerged in every type of fluid in a shop, dropped off hoist arms, and fallen out of wherever I forgot it under a car, lol. None of this on purpose, of course. The light kept working. I used it, ( more like used it up ) every day for several years. Finally, one day, it had fallen from like 12 feet onto the concrete shop floor....it still worked, but later that day I dropped it in a pan of hot coolant, but didn't know it till I dumped the coolant at the end of the day. A few weeks after that the button got really weird. It would kind of go through the bright to dim cycle like you were holding the button down, or it would stay in strobe mode. So, I gave it to a tool truck guy that dealt them. I bought it from the previous tool truck guy with the same brand.... He said he could send it in, and they should replace whatever they felt they needed to. Well, so I was expecting like months of waiting for my light (that's how the previous tool truck guy worked), but like a couple weeks go by and his next stop he handed me an almost new light. All that was old was the tail cap......I have a lot of respect for Streamlight, at least the Stinger series. So, this Stinger 2020 is my next light. Not wrenching as a pro anymore, but still need a good light.

    If you think your product is tough, just give it to a mechanic. We will find a way to break it....lol. That said, I used one of the stinger HL lights for many years without worry. After much abuse from this mechanic (unintentional of course, things happen...) Mine finally had the button go bad. It would come on in strobe and not shut off, or it would run through the dim to bright cycle like you were holding the button. I'm talking years of hard use, every day. It fell of the hoist a lot. It fell in coolant or oil, or whatever a lot. Bought it on a tool truck, that guy retired, and the next same brand tool guy sent it in for me. All That was still old was the tail cap. Go with the Streamlight HL-5X instead. You get 1500 more lumens and about 30K more Candela. It also has great dimensions unlike the stinger. And you save yourself about $50. Also, for like $10 you can get the Pro Tac HL 4 tail cap switch and it works on the HL-5X.

    Already sent mine in for not working after barely dropping it at work. I work on trucks. So I went back to my old stinger while waiting for the new one to get fixed. Hopefully they refund me instead of replace. The new gen is terrible stick with the old stinger I have 3 and a great. Even when dropped in coolant buckets

    Lumens vs candella? Whats the dif?

    • @Russianmafia10
      @Russianmafia10 Pƙed 3 lety

      Lumens is total light output, candella is light intensity. So with a given amount of lumens, you can have a low candella flood beam, or a high candella super tight spot beam. But both the same total light. Pretty much Lumens= candella x area

    My advice would be stay away from proprietary charging systems and different sized batteries as they limit adaptability. Thrunite make flashlights as good as this for literally half the price which means you can have two. Excellent review as always from the Premier kit and weapons review channel.
