"I swear, I'll set him on you!" Those words stunned me as a kid watching this and they stun me now. Wonderfully written and acted scene.

It was implied that Del is very tough and can intimidate other guys
I love this scene. For all his character flaws, Del Boy is a good man who is fiercely loyal to his family. Del loves them all so much and the moment his arch-nemesis Slater starts insulting Raquel and their unborn child, Del is right there to defend and comfort her. Perfectly willing to fight for Raquel’s honour.
Such a well-written and performed scene with the perfect balance of drama and comedy.

One of my favourite scenes in Only Fools and Horses. Sublime writing, hugely funny performances and a real sense of tension and drama. Absolutely brilliantly constructed.

@Skipper847 Buster Merryfield whom played Uncle Albert, he had never acted before and was very nervous when he first started as its filmed in front of a live audience and David Jason said to him not to worry about making any mistakes as they had plenty of film.

It could've been alot different. Jim Broadbent was originally approached to play Del.
Everyone talks about Del falling through the bar, but for me "Who's Rachel?" is far funnier. Buster Merryfield was fabulous. His other classic is when he was feigning disgust at Rodney taking another girl out.
A very underrated scene in my opinion.
The best line of fools and horses was the beautifully simple “ alright Dave “ 🤣
The falling through the bar is funnier to me because the exact same thing happened to my dad, and he is also called Dereck ( sometimes Del by my mum) xoxo

Uncle Albert’s timings is perfect, proper good old acting, you just don’t get that sort of acting anymore.
I’m not saying the actors of today are not amazing, they are truly brilliant, the best that has ever been, but there is just something about the old acting that is just pure brilliance.

how come raquel never told del about her husbands name?
Some funny moments but a rare nonsensical story for series. Why would she marry him? Why would Del be that bothered about her past that he would submit to blackmail? Would his mates really think the estranged wife of a bent, imprisoned copper would influence business? How could slater have possible retained diamonds? Etc etc
If you actually watch the episode all those questions are answered 😂

@@vinnydurham8964 It's got nothing to do with "best" or "bad" look - nobody watching this would ever think of these guys as perfect. they're flawed characters, that's part of why the series is so good. they're rough around the edges but in the end always try to do the right thing
