Great guide! You explained everything really well. I'm from Poland, 17 years old, and I've been interested in electronic music basically since I was a kid. In 2015, I started listening to some trap, Troyboi, and so on, but then it quieted down a bit. In 2018, I discovered DJ Timmy Trumpet, and I fell in love with EDM because of him. In 2020, I became more interested in techno and house, and that's when Hardwell spoke to me. I knew about him before, but that's when everything started for me, and that's how I fell in love with techno. I like those dark, strong, and energetic beats. I also want to start making music. There aren't many tutorials like yours on Polish CZcams, so I'm glad I found you. I hope I'll succeed. Thank you again!

Yeah, I like this approach for beginners. I still use it and I always get something worth working on. I take it one step further: I change the percussion samples and I tune them (with EQ peak filters or with pitch shifting; instead of reducing resonant frequencies, I *strengthen* them). Then, that gives me ideas for a melody. After that, the rest just falls in place.

Hi, I have a question about EDM, maybe you know the answer? A popular element of it seems all EDM is what I would call the bursting thermometer, or something similar. It's when there is a pulsing sound that emerges and builds in tempo and pitch until it "explodes" and it's so corny but whatever, so is most EDM in my view. But I imagine that element has a name so that when EDM makers want to talk about it they can. What is it called?

Afaik, turntables and controllers are really more for live performances. Modern DJ controllers sometimes have jog wheels that act like kind of like turntables (and can be used for things like beat matching and scratching). Outside turntablism (which is an amazing art form in itself), you really don't need turntables for music production, and I haven't seen much use of them in the EDM scene other than a few baby scratches here and there. If you're interested in turntablism, look up DJ Angelo.

Nice videos! Very informative and helpful. Good explanation too. However, I signed up for the free EDM Production starter pack. After that, I got 6 mails in 48 hours... So I unsubscribed. If you ever decide to only send a mail from time to time let me know.. Now, it just irritated me and I didn't even read them.
