Seems like keeping the hammer down is the ticket. Most of those trophy trucks didn't even care as long as they kept it somewhat straight and kept the speed up!
It might be a pain to set up but I'd like to see the MPH on screen somehow. I think the teams that hit it fast and straight did fine. It was the ones that came of the first bump a bit sideways that didn't make it.
Sure would suck to throw it away in the first 3 miles. I remember the Mint 400 when it used to start at the old Las Vegas Speedrome, there were a lot of people that didn't make it more than a couple hundred yards after they left the pavement.
In my 50 years of offroad racing in Cali, Nevada, Arizona and Baja...the ONLY place I've ever seen man-made traps was in Mexico. And then only near where there are a bunch of people. Never seen it way out in the boonies.

I could watch this a 100 times. Looks like the rigs that had more of a front weight bias hit harder, especially if they slowed down right before the first hit. The buggies appeared to do really good because the engine is in the rear.

Back in the days they left the Speedrome , crossing LV Blvd, and ran through the whoops along side of the paved road.

They are marked and there is a pre run for racers to make their own notes. This is compiled crashes from multiple years at this spot.
