No Bump, No Tackle, No prior opportunity, no incorrect disposal, no umpire consistency within 1/4s let alone games or week to week. The chicken wing is the new AFL approved tackle, watch for all the shoulder and arm injuries incoming. As a fan I've never been more frustrated and confused watching the game. Many of my friends and family are saying they now only watch their own teams play and even that is a struggle. The AFL is in a terrible place right now

I Agree 100% that the AFL is lost and it looks like getting worse rather than improving. I myself don't even watch it as it's not the game I grew up playing. It's gone from a contact sport to netball or basketball like sport. Let boys be boys having a crack is part of the game there's a difference between playing hard and playing dirty. It appears the powers to be put everything in the same basket. I agree with Cane the game is in a bad place with these rules Changes.

Well I think the umpires are just as confused as the players at times. I've said it before. One of the dads when my own son was playing U14 a few years ago used to get stuck into the umpires (who were also U14) to the extent that it was cringe-worthy. Through a set of circumstances, that same dad got convinced to umpire a game (how hard can it be). He came off after the game was over and said he would never criticise umpires again. Every single player in the AFL has an option to wear a helmet, i say its a contact sport if you feel like not using a helmet is a good choice then any injury you get while not wearing one is on you. Maybe force players to wear helmets if concussion is such a danger. Even more to the point any player coming off concussion protocols should be forced to wear one or not play. We need to stop the concussions not ruin the game. You'd think actually protecting the head with a helmet would be the first option before changing rules and substance of the game.
