  • After our Madigan Crossing, we had 8 days to spend around Alice Springs before we would return through the Simpson Desert Cross Country on our way back. We decided to pay a Visit to Ayers Rock (Uluru) and Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) as hadn't seen them. When headed into the MacDonell Ranges towards the Fink Gorge NP to follow the Fink Gorge and River South to East via Boggy Hole. This 4wd only track is one of the few options around that area to get in low range and do some 4w driving as most areas, which are still incredibly beautiful, are very commercialised and can be visited via 2wd. We also paid a visit to the Palm Valley, Hermannsburg and its Historic Precinct, Two Mile Creek Camping area and the Ellery Big Hole join me for this Adventure...

    Great country. In May I drove my Defender to Alice Springs then walked the 234km Larapinta Trail west to east - from Redbank Gorge back into Alice. From the mountain tops the views go on forever.

      Wow that would be an awesome experience, camping along the way?

      Yes, carrying tent and everything with me and staying on mountain tops, in gorges and at some official campsites. Took 13 days and I lost about 15 pounds in weight, haha! I left the Defender at the long-term parking at Alice Springs Airport, then collected it when I was done and went to Uluru, Kata Tjuta, Kings Canyon, Coober Pedy, Port Augusta, Broken Hill and back to Queensland. On the way there I went via Winton, Mt Isa and Tennant Creek.
      Enjoy all your videos - they keep me motivated about traveling around.

    I loved my visit to Uluru and Kata Juta in 2017. Amazing place indeed.

    Great video like always! Thanks for all the effort you put in!!

  • @richardwilliamjohnson8566

    Great to have tracks like this, so many have been bitumenised or otherwise commercialised like you mentioned, takes all the fun out of it. I hope they don't change this one

      Yep, ABC talking now of the Tanami & Others being Bitumen. I believe this is for future electric vehicles & the phase out of Fossil fuel vehicles.

    Great video! You might enjoy Australian Wildlife Conservency (AWC) videos & their work with conserving and also re introducing captive bred indigienous endangered animals in large remote fenced off areas, keeping them safe from roaming foxes and cats...such a great cause & also a charity..

    Great video, thank you.
    When you went past palm valley camp site, deeper into the valley, was it possible to wild camp?
    Are 11 mins you mentioned a wild camping site by the Finke River, any location details would be appreciated. Thanks again

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  Před 2 lety
