Backstory on the Goyard tote, it was originally made as a beach bag which is why it's so flimsy. As it got more popular people started wearing them as normal totes. It's just a shame that Goyard never changed the quality and made it sturdier.

Another great marketing tactic. They are very clever. They don’t even spend as much on marketing as opposed to the likes of Chanel, so all the money is cash in the back for them! Personally for me no the bag is not worth it - it probably costs no more that £30 for raw materials if that. Appreciate they are handmade but the designs are very simple.
I thought about it, and I just couldn't do it. A totes job is to be able to lug everything around, withstand abuse and be useful and classy at the same time. I ended up going to Portland Leather Goods and paid 143$ including tax for a FULL GRAIN leather tote bag, with rivets and its such a clean looking tote bag. It holds up on its own, a laptop without sagging, and smells divine. I could buy that, for a tenth of what people are charging for these plastic bags

Totally makes sense, as does buying the goyard. St. Louis isn’t it for me for the reasons you describe. But I love fashion and have respect for the brand’s heritage and it’s place in history. I have the Artois. It’s more of a tote if you actually NEED a tote and WANT it from Goyard.
Great video! I just got my hands on a new, 2023 Saint Louis Claire-Voie GM in Khaki. In store I fell in love with the design, it truly is one of a kind. But when I got back home, this weight of concern came over me with it’s practicality for my needs. Long story short and after watching this video, I am reassured I need sell it and find something better suited for me in a bag this size. Thanks!
It’s not for everyone. We love that. As flimsy as it is, after owning mine for almost 7 years, it never gave out on me. I still wear it as my work bag! I plan on adding the Orange GM size to my collection next. 💖

I would LOVE one in that royal blue, but the flimsiness is why I won’t spend the cash. I went to the Goyard three times in one day, and stood in line - but I couldn’t do it.
I did it and got that color and yes its expensive but oohh I love it! Great for summer. I wouldn't throw a laptop in it though. I love the vibe and the plus is not everyone has it
I have it and love the blue but yeah, it’s totally not worth the money if you need a workhorse tote. The flimsiness and how lightweight it is suits my needs though so I would recommend it. Carrying it brings me more joy than carrying other totes!
I went to Goyard today to purchase the GM and then changed my mind and got the PM instead. The bigger one looks too much like a beach bag on me. Anyway, prices here in Miami are currently $1620 for the PM and $1900 for the GM. I also got the Jouvence MM toilet bag :):) Flying back to Hawaii tomorrow, I'm so happy I was able to stop in!

I had my Goyard bag for over 10 years. Very disappointed the wear and tear of this bag. I had my LV neverful bag since 2010 and it still stand the test of time. I now use it as a travel bag.

I have 2 which I use for trips to the grocery multiple times a week. I pack them full and they arent showing any wear after years of doing so.
It’s not supposed to be a durable bag so I don’t know why it’s often compared to the neverfull. It’s a luxury item and some bags are delicate but people still buy them. I wouldn’t use a bag made out of lambskin the same way I would use a bag made of caviar. It’s the same concept…The goyard St. Louis is not the workhorse tote; it’s the chic tote you carry around when you’re running errands, shopping, having lunch with friends. For lugging around a laptop the neverfull, faur Le page, or a longchamp will do.
Your comparison is wrong. Thats like comparing glass to thin plastic, both are breakable but one is a premium material, one is intentionally breakable.
A chic tote that looks like a grocery store bag? This is like that line of Balenciaga bags that are literally plastic storage bags for 3k$😂. But I guess upper middle class ppl can be convinced to buy anything expensive as long as it creates an illusion they're rich 😂
@@anatosic480 or maybe we can just easily afford it and it brings us joy, so why not?! If I need to create the illusion that I am rich, I’d be buying something well out of my price range and saving up for it. I am not saving up to buy these goyard “grocery” totes…it is well within my budget the way a $3 grocery bag is within your budget. It’s just an object to enjoy and use and I am not going to complain about wear and tear if I’ve gotten my use out of it. When people complain it just reveals to me that it’s not really something they can afford.

Going to cannes from LA and will drive to Monaco to visit the goyard store. Probably will buy the belvedere. I would probably not shop from the beverly hills store though I live in l a because i'm sure it's going to be cheaper in france.
I just don’t get it. The value that people put on different things really trips me out. I do respect the longevity of the brand, but it just doesn’t grab me as something that I need to spend my hard earned money on. 🤷🏾♂️

Just no, not for the price! I would rather get a Faure le page, so much better quality and all the history to go with it. I buy Longchamp for a fraction of the price if I want a lighter weight bag
Fun fact if you bought your longchamp bag in their stores, you can get it fixed there too
I had a faure le page bag which came unstitched in three places after only two months. It took three months and was a daily battle ( the irony!) to get it replaced and while the replacement is fine two months on, the poor service received from FLP means I'd recommend the LV neverfull every time
Yeah but with faur Le page you have to compromise on aesthetics. Longchamp is good for a throw around tote bag.

There’s estimates online as people who buy them will share what they paid. When you’re in the industry for a while you also learn their prices from dealing with them so much 🤍

There are prices online, just not their website. I just did research and the special colors in GM size are $1513 and the PM sizes are $1294 tax included. So if you have more than that you’re good for the PM sizes. 💖

I have used the bag for years. The bag is supposed to be light by design as a beach bag. However, I put mine through the daily grind and it’s still happy many years later. I prefer this over the neverfall as it’s more comfortable to carry. Goyard made a stronger version with a zip… you can try that as a work horse if you’re too afraid of the this one. 🫶
