At 58 years old, Tommy definitely can still rock! Believe me, it's a compliment to say he does Brad justice. All good wishes to Tommy, Tom Sholtz and the entire band
That’s Payton Velligan, a talented vocalist and multi-instrumentalist (guitar and keyboards also) who loves performing, as you can tell. And a nice human being as well.
You're absolutely correct on that love Brad Delp! Tommy is a good singer and I realized at first he was singing to honor Brad Delp0 but now it's kind of creeping me out he's trying to look like him
@@brendafranklin5060 Tom Scholz found Decarlo on youtube sometime after Delp's death, and Decarlo sang in the band Boston for quite some time.. . This vid is not Boston or any of Tom Scholz's iterations of Boston.; it's Decarlo doing a Boston song,
@@craighermle7727 yes I saw the Tom Schultz interview on how Tommy DiCarlo came about. He has been singing with Boston I believe since 2008. But my thing is is he's trying to look like Brad Delp after being in the band Boston for quite a few years. Brad Delp was in a Beatles tribute band Beetlejuice but you don't see him trying to look like any of the Beatles LOL. DeCarlo was doing karaoke I guess singing a Boston song when presented to Tom Schultz. Either way Tommy is a great singer but Delp and Schultz are Boston.🥰
When I saw them live on the original concert tours it was quite a show ..a performance so night and day different than this it wluld be hard to explain you would have to see it ...
Very good cover of Brad Delp's original version. But that's all it is and doesn't come close to hitting the same notes and scaling into an even higher note and holding it as it blends into the guitar. Delp's vocal range was an added instrument in itself and stands alone. Listen to the voice isolation version of the original release....so smooth and effortless!
@@danarmstrong8272 you’re comparing studio vocals to a live performance. I have never seen(heard) Brad Delp hit the high notes live as well as this guy does. If you are aware of one where he does, please direct me to it 🙂
My fav song when inwas a freshmen. In HS in 79 and the Trans Am Formula Reminds me of this song because my neighbor who was a sr in HS had one and would always cruise by lorilee dr listening to Boston and this 1 particular song ❤️
Boston is done and I for one am glad to see that Tommy as well as other former members of Boston are still performing their songs and keeping the music alive!
They are playing near me in November. I may have to surprise my husband with tickets to this. This song always gets me teary-eyed because it reminds me of him.
Actually when he sings with Boston band it sounds much better. Saw them around 10 years ago at the Riverbend festival in Chattanooga tn. I was surprised
The lead singer here is Tommy Decarlo. He is in fact the lead singer of Boston and has been since the early 2000's. There is an incredible story about how he was discovered. Essentially he was a Home Depot employee who sang Boston songs in karaoke. His daughter uploaded them to the Boston website or some Boston forum. Soon after Tom Sholz wife found them . At first Tom Sholz (the founder of Boston) thought it had to be an old recording with Brad delp. He couldn't tell the difference. Once he was convinced it was someone else, Tommy Decarlo, he soon drafted him to be their new lead singer. As they say, the rest is rock and roll history. Needless to say he never returned to his job at Home Depot. Plenty of videos about that story on CZcams.
@@wayneleroy6382 they way my memory serves me when I was lucky enough to see them live on the original 2 first tours it sounded way way different black and white different so if this guy just started lead singing in 2000 as you stated he was 33 years younger when i first saw them in like 1977 .. One of the few songs that crosses time without getting old
No, there are several songs that crosses time without getting old.
Boston would be very Proud to here this, I can’t hardly believe it’s been 46 years since I’ve first heard this on the radio.
He is the new singer for Boston
46 years... damn
Man, I'm getting old. 46 years!! There has to be a mistake in the time continuum.
Bill H. The glitch on the time continuum is us. I am a time accelerator. Already at 74 years. I've already hit Warp 99
Has it been that long wow .. how time has flown ..
As someone who saw 1979 Boston in concert - I endorse this cover
One of my all time favorite songs!!!
My favorite all time song and my favorite all time group!!
Something about this song that brings me to tears.
Not bad! Boston should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of fame! Tom Shultz was a musical genius!
Very good rendition of this song; but no one can sing this like Brad Delp could (RIP)
You're absolutely correct on that love Brad Delp! Tommy is a good singer and I realized at first he was singing to honor Brad Delp0 but now it's kind of creeping me out he's trying to look like him
That's what i thought when it came on the radio last week and asked myself why are Boston still going without him when he simply can't be replaced?

Lots of music gets old, not Boston music. It’s sounds as good now as it did in 1976.

Absolutely
Not with this bunch it don’t. Sorry. He’s not Brad!! And Tom isn’t even there. Which isn’t a bad thing! But still……
That is not a very wise comment - all music gets old with time, which doesn't mean it isn't good. Right?
Saw him with Boston years back. Amazing voice!
Miss Brad so much..........never will be topped.
I just seen this in Terre Haute, Indiana. I am telling you go see them. Incredible show!
I have heard many attempts to cover this iconic song... This one gave me chills, so good, thumbs up and thanks!
You know he sang for Boston for years!!

An excellent performance of the greatest rock song of all time! 🤘🏻😖🤘🏻
Great job all around. Kudos to the rhythm section. Love how the bassist really jumps into it.
Can't do Boston without you know who... 😔
This is excellent. For someone who has loved Boston for more than 40 years, I think this is amazing!
Tommy has now become a legend in his own way.. Love it. .

5 seconds of the opening riff and you know the song. Classic 70s
Peyton adding her touch at 3:41. AWESOME! I was at the other side of the stage during this. Great band.
Fell flat
Didn't work. Maybe she should stick to pretending to be a bass player.
Payton is a fantastic singer❣️
R.I.P. Brad.

Great job 👏 everyone ❤ Boston songs were magical for me 😊
Tommy, you really are a wonderful torch bearer for Boston and Brad!

I happily own all of Boston and in each of 3 cars on flash drives listened to regularly ...good job
Excellent band, so much talent here!

Wow 👌 Very nice 👌
Saw Tommy last week at Mohegan Sun and actually preferred that show to the time I saw Boston back in 2017.
Such a great cover.
Tommy D nice job in an almost impossible task: emulating the effortless genius voice of Brad Delp.
Last high note the bass player hit, beautiful head voice. I'm your phantom fan. Too bad I'll never get to watch live. Thousands of miles apart.

Yea the singer and the band did a nice job.

Excellent job
Boston, the real savior of rock n roll music. People forget van halen wasn't the first 80s style rock band to he successful
In the 70s
Tom Scholtz invented the 80's style rock band in the 70's and called it Boston. It took a few years for everybody else to TRY to catch up.

Nice. I like how he try to sing it exactly like Delp. The singer has the pipes to match it.. A hard song to sing. Great Job.
I´ve looking at the bass!!!
This is one of those songs that you just don't wanna listen to it sung or covered by anybody.
This is as close as we'll get to Brad again, there's a reason Tom Sholz hired him to sing in Boston!
you should put in the title ''live band cover'' because i've been looking for this live song but i've never seen this video.
Done
Female bass players are awesome. They sing those high notes only a few dudes ever could, Brad Delp, Geddy Lee ETC. (edit: Michael Anthony.

He’s touring on his own doing Boston covers.
Wonder when and where this was filmed?
