  • Pushpa-The Rise, Allu Arjun's Telugu movie dubbed in Hindi, captured Hindi-speaking audiences by the lakhs. Brilliantly made, the movie follows a well set formula that masses love, one which Bollywood seems to have discarded.

Chhichore of Sushant Singh Rajput was a great movie to show what real college life somewhat looks like.
Not like Student of the year & it's sequel. In 2012 when the first version arrived it did find attractions, as a school kid, I also liked it, now that I have graduated from college I find SOTY useless & didn't even bother watching trailer of part 2. In the first part, now I realise they didn't even show 5% of what college life looks like.
Bollywood in it's hoping of competing with Hollywood has actually lost the plot & left the path of realism to follow idealism. They need to understand that each country's cinema depends on their country's culture, social standards & way of living. Following Hollywood blindly is of no use.
I personally feel Bollywood stopped creating great movies at bulk after 2012-13. Yeh Jawani hain Deewani was the last Bollywood movie I can watch at any point of time & not get tired.

@@EvaluationIAS In recent times, there's this weird perception that south industries make better movies than bollywood. This is not necessarily true.
Let's talk about the content of both industries. The south has made beautiful movies in recent times, namely- jallikatu, super deluxe, vikram vedha, etc. But for every masterpiece, there are 10 other embarrassing masala movies. People are acting as if bollywood doesn't make good movies at all. Some masterpieces are- The Lunchbox, Paan Singh Tomar, Ship of Theusus, Tumbbad, Andhadhun, Badhaai Ho, Trapped, etc. Truth be told, south movies are still the template for memes about indian cinema globally.
People have this misconception that the south is the paragon of great content because they compare the worst bollywood movies with the best south movies. People will say that "look, we make movies like jallikattu and bollywood is still making crap like baaghi". To those people, why don't you compare the best bollywood movies with the worst south movies? Things will look very different. Why don't you compare something like Rang de basanti to Theri?
In fact, the south has more brainless fans than bollywood. Just look at the fans of rajnikant. He used to be a good actor, but his movies in the last decade have been utter trash and just fan service. He has temples built for him. What exactly has he done for that? Those buffoons waste gallons of milk on his posters. People have got into violent fights when talking about their favourite actors. Atleast in this respect, bollywood fans are way better. Salman fans may be batshit crazy, but they haven't been so dumb. Yes, bollywood does make shitty masala movies. But how is it any different from south masala movies? Both bollywood and the south have their fair share of masterpieces and embarrassing flicks.
The only counter point that i agree with is that bollywood has greater reach and thus has the resources to make better movies. Apart from this, most people are just jumping on the bandwagon.
P.S. I've used the phrase 'south movies' because there are various industries in the south and i do not want to spend half my time writing the different 'woods'.
Note: yaar sach bol raha hu iska matlab hater hu south ka ?
dono industries ki movies dekhta hu par sach dikhta hai mujhe.

Reasons why I feel Telugu films are getting more reach:
    1) Easy and quality dubbing is now available.
    2) Telugu cinema is now a cash rich industry, so they are able to produce movies of the scale of a National level rather than regional cinema.
    3) Bollywood Mafia (or cartel) is more focused on pushing a political narrative rather than making good films. Telugu cinema shows respects towards Indian culture in their movies, meanwhile Bollywood has been trying to belittle it for quite sometime. Either they are promoting Islam or western culture. Bollywood can't disrespect someone and expect love in return.
    3) Characters in Telugu cinema maybe larger than life (like lead actor having strength of a superhero), but they are still closer to real middle and lower class north Indians, than the Bollywood portrayal.
    4) Far better music. If we closely observe, from past 5-7 years, bollywood is not producing any new quality music. All you get is old songs remixed, punjabi hit songs served again or some shitty low quality music. The number of good songs are so low, that we can count them on our finger tips.
