The Rossington Collins Band was formed by the surviving members of the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash. So basically it's just Skynyrd with a female singer. They were around for a few years before the Skynyrd reunion tour got started in 1987. They have some great songs including "Getaway", "Prime Time" and "Tashauna". Check those ones out for sure!
All but Artimus Pyle, as he was injured at the time due to a motorcycle accident and Derek Hess became the drummer.
Rossington Collins Band
One good man
One of the best!
I remember the ads when this came out. They said "The Free Bird Flies Again".
Love this song so much. Thank you for playing it. No one else does. Phenomenal
i suggested this one a while back, glad you found it
Gary Rossington...Gary’s mistakes was one of the cause of the great song That Smell. Allan Collins & Billy Powell after the plane crash that took our beloved members of LS.
Teared-up when I heard Billy on piano. The loss of legends will always surface when your ears and mind remembers tones and melody’s.
Love this song. Been on my playlist long time
Four Lynyrd Skynyrd members here to keep the beat alive. Believe they did an instrumental version of "Free Bird" during their shows with a spotlight on the unused mike stand.
Absolutely. I saw them in Huntington, WV. When the first notes dropped, the crowd went wild. When it got to the lyrics, everybody sang. Awesome to be there.
Back in 80s, I saw the Rossington Collins Band live at the old Tennesee theater in Nashville. You’re right, they did an instrumental version of Free Bird as the finale with the spotlight on the unused mike stand where Ronnie would have been. Tears were flowing all around.
With his hat on it.
Oh wow, I really used to LOVE this song. You are bringing the memories of more carefree times. Thank you. Keep vibin.
All peace & Love here..😎😎❤❤👏👏
One of the reasons that I've always loved this song was the duet between male and female.(she really has a great voice) I works just right for me. Cheers, Steve
Bless their hearts! Great reaction, ty.
Another great memory.
OH! I had forgotten how much I liked this song. Thanks for reviewing it.
Dale’s got a good country voice like you said, just a hint of a rasp in there. Good song and reaction. Looking forward to more down the road.
In 93 Lynyrd Skynyrd held a PPV concert from Atlanta where they had many guests including Charlie Daniels,Peter Frampton and Travis Tritt They did a live version of this song with Tritt handling the male part of the vocals with Dale reprising her tremendous vocals. There is a video on youtube if you would like to see it
YaY!!! Thanks for checkin' out one of my suggestions! :D
This band was founded in 1979, two years after the plane crash.
Lead singer Dale Krantz and Gary Rossington married in 1982, and have two daughters.
Correct, and this was one of the reasons that RCB broke up since both Collins and Rossington were romantically interested in Dale Krantz. Collins' wife Kathy died in 1980 from a miscarriage in delivering the couple's third child. This sent Collins into a tailspin and the band ended by 1982. As many know, Collins was paralyzed in a car accident and his girlfriend Debra Jean Watts was killed. That was 1986. Mr. Collins died of pneumonia in 1990.
She has a great voice
Love your station could we hear more Southern Rock
The Henry Paul Band-Grey Ghost it’s about Ronnie Van Zant
Oh, I remember when this came out. It was a great Summer song, and came out when we were all still in shock over the plane crash.
Dale Krantz Rossington has a great voice!! Listen to the song You Gotta Love Your Man with Dale singing lead vocals...you'll like it.
I didn't know this song...now I want to hear more of their music! Good stuff!
Seen this band live when this song came out, love it 😎
Oh this brings back some great memories !!!!!!
HA! This is great my guy. Just stumbled on this.
Rossington Collins band one of my favorite bands!!! Love their music!!
After, Rossington Collins check out Mother's Finest, "Baby Love" this is an awesome song!!! I think you will really like it!
Brickyard Road - Johnny VanZandt
basically Skynyrd without Ronnie. Great reaction. I ran across Ronnie and Neil by Drive By Truckers. It talks about Sweet Home Alabama and Southern Man By Neil Young. The lyrics are deep about the 2 songs and does a good job of telling both sides. You should listen to Southern Man then Ronnie and Neil.
Also no Artimus Pyle. He was supposed to be in it, but got injured and he suggested that they find another drummer, which they did, Derek Hess.
Great song
So good!!! 😃
Deep Purples "Perfect Strangers" good one
I think the Allen Collins Band was better personally. Not saying this is bad by any means.
lynyrd skynyrd was i right or was i wrong not too many people know that song
Your channels dope bro
Appreciate that
Hello, really appreciate your past comments about live music showing the real talent. Artists actually performing. With that said, please check out "Telegraph Road" in Sevilla 26.07.2015. This is Mark Knopler (Dire Straits founder, lead guitarist and lead singer) playing his 1982 song LIVE ... What is that, 33 years later. It's absolutely incredible.
Prim time is another good one
Travis Tritt joined Dale Krantz & RCB for this song in a concert and did a great job.
Search for 'Dale Krantz Travis Tritt' on CZcams if your are interested
Yessir, good band, Gary's wife is the singer, I've seen them.
Billy Powell was a skilled pianist before being hired as a roadie for Skynyrd, during a break in recording he started playing his piano version of freebird, when the band heard it they offered him a spot in the band. That’s the paraphrased version
100% correct. Mr. Powell has stated that in interviews as well as Mr. Rossington over the years.
This is one of the bands that Spohn from Lynyrd Skynyrd after the plane crash
Traffic”,low spark of high heeled boys, empty pages “
Your a solid man
To understand why Skynyrd was so good you need to know the story of “hell house” an small building in jax with no AC where Ronnie made them practice all day every day
Bro, the next Rossington Collins band song you should dig on is called "Opportunity" from the same CD. It will blow your mind...
It's a true sample of their powerful musicianship.
If you want to listen to a double album about Skynyrd check out The Drive-By Truckers "Southern Rock Opera". They are from Muscle Shoals Studio!!
Lynyrd Skynyrd POISON WHISKEY might be their hardest song.
Right on. True true. Also one of my favorites in the 'heavy Skynyrd' category... But the ultimate hardest Skynyrd song is' Wino' hands down. 👍
Dale Krantz didn’t just join the band as the lead singer, (they knew no male singer could replace Ronnie) but she married Gary Rossington.
Rossington Collins Band
Three times as bad
Still need to hear
The Henry Paul Band
Grey Ghost it’s about Ronnie Van Zant
I wished Billy Allen and Leon was still with us
I think Getaway is my favorite from this album! I also think it's the one to be played the loudest. The entire album is epic to me. I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd right before the Street Survivors album was released. Dale Krantz always had a great voice and I was happy when she took on the lead. I liked Rossington Collins just as much!
If you love that dirty dirty, and we know you do go find a song called El Paso Sugar by Lance Lopez , you wont regret it
Always enjoy your reactions. I highly recommend “I Need You“ by Skynyrd, I think you’ll dig it. Also if you want another good Rossington Collins tune, check out “Seems Like Everyday”. Happy New Year man.
the song "Opportunity" is a great one to go to next
Derek and Barry bring new sound and texture… listen to the song Sometime you can’t put it out
You need to react to some Drive By Truckers, an amazing Southern Rock band currently making music. They wrote an entire album inspired by Lynyrd Skynyrd. “Ronnie and Neil” or “Where the Devil Don’t Stay” would be good cherry breakers. Love yer channel!
And
So Long from the Henry Paul Band
Don't forget Charlie Daniels Band, High Lonesome, Long Haired Country Boy, Trudy...Another I like from Rossington Coliins is I'm Free Today.. Also Check out Dickie Betts and Great Southern

love it ,try Prime Time ,sometimes you put it out, misery loves company
Don't know if u have review some johnny cash when the man comes around
You want raspy???Bonnie Raitt Love like a man....Turtle Blues by Janis Joplin.
They were around from late 1979/early 1980-1982 then broke up. In 1980, Allen Collins' wife died and that, combined with both Collins and Rossington having a like for Dale Krantz, the singer, caused a lot of rift in the band. Collins actually walked off stage on a few performances. If they could have continued, I think that they would have been great.
Never heard this song 🎧 or band before.. now this I could most definitely get into 🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼🤠... As a Friend/Brother would say....... “Disgrosting”
Check out nf the search
Sometimes you can put it out
