Speeding up heart attack diagnosis

Femke de Theije and her team found a way to take heart attack diagnosis from one hour down to eight minutes: With an easy-to-operate handheld device that allows emergency care teams to test for Troponin I from a finger stick of blood, directly at the patient's bed. Here’s how they did it. Hint: it involves magnetic nanoparticles.
