I had a friend with Tourette’s in high school and sometimes after yelling something like “DOUCHEBAG” or “POSER” everyone would just giggle and forget about it as usual, but then he would lean over and whisper “That wasn’t a tic”.
I would lose my shit, cus it was usually directed at someone that annoyed everyone or was a jerk. I still really don’t know if he was kidding or not.

For my tattoos, I just told my artist beforehand "I have tourettes, I will let you know if I need you to pause." It wound up being okay because during the tattooing, my focus was on the tattoo and the pain, so I wasn't ticking too much, and when I did I was able to let them out when he had to get more ink or change colors. It worked out pretty well.

I’ve started to develop tics with anxiety. I had my first tic attack just yesterday, for 3 hours. I can’t say I will ever understand what Tourette’s is like, but it’s definitely been an eye opening experience.

I don’t have Tourette’s, but I am diagnosed with OCD and ADHD but many of my OCD ‘tics’ are repetitive fast movements. Even something like that sucks and is embarrassing. Mad respect for people who learn to be okay with and deal with Tourette’s.

Most ppl with tourettes have another co morbid condition. ADHD and OCD being the most common. There is a close link between OCD and tourettes.

troy Dacre Yeah I have adhd and I used to have freaky bad anxiety and ocd a few years ago when I was like nine. I didn’t know I had ocd but looking back up until then my entire life I’d had tics, and not just from ADHD meds. So Tourette’s tics didn’t seem that weird to me because ofc I haven’t experienced them but I think it might be similar

My dad has tourette's and has always thought he was a freak but as me and my brother say, hell, you're completely normal to us! I get really pissed off when people presume that tourette's only come's in the form of swearing or when people just think said person is "mad". I started developing ticks in my early teens , it was so funny, me and my dad would sit in the living room setting each others ticks off and be knackered after half and hour! Hahaha! :) x
