The fact they Nerfed Hanzo because he was "Frustrating" while characters like Mei and Sombra who by the way keeps getting buffed exists is wild to me
Or Venture, who can 1 shot combo you in like .5 seconds. (Okay maybe not that fast, but still super fast Time to Kill) on a character that generates shields, becomes invulnerable, and does splash damage.

@@NeroGlitched Kind of, but timed decently it's easy to execute and get out before you can get punished to severely due to the short CD on their abilities and the over shielding simply by USING an ability, not even hitting it... just using it. Doomfist at least had to HIT. So yeah, decent Ventures can one shot your backline and get out to do it again. Sure the sucky ones will still suck, but the same can be said for Hanzo players... and then we can talk about the displacement capability Venture has.... which was supposed to be removed from the DPS class and shifted to Tanks/Supports to limit CC and Loss of Control.
Time to Kill for some heroes is insane given their other mechanics that are frustrating. So the Idea that an Arrow to the head wont one shot squishy targets just because it was 'frustrating' for people is silly. Blizzard's balance has gotten worse and worse and they don't even have a clue what to do anymore.

Thank you so much for speaking out on behave of the hanzo mains, the changes made to hanzo was criminal and no one was even talking about these changes for the past months. Maybe it's possible to make a video about why the changes for hanzo are so bad so that more players who don't play hanzo could also understand? He said hanzo was struggling and need help, but he thinks hanzo shouldn't get the one shot back and he doesn't know where else to buff him. This is crazy to me because I'm sure he knows that hanzo just needs to one shot back to be viable again, he was fine before season 9. However, even someone as good as ML7 won't admit that hanzo needs the one shot back. This makes me think that people already knows what he needs, but are just denying it.

@@HeroOrb He's an archer, not a sniper. There are definitely ways for Hanzo to work without a one shot. As a comparison, Widow _is_ a sniper character (sharpshooter? Marksman? Markswoman?) and would definitely not work without a one shot and there is not a way to keep her identity without it.

Not being able to get a kill with a headshot as a sniper hero is absolutely disgusting. What’s even worse is seeing your target runaway with 10hp left or get healed instantly.
To top things off, they kill you afterwards. Ain’t that just a slap in the face huh? 😪

Hitting an extremely hard heatshot that you were spamming to get just for the enemy to hide behind cover and fully regen their health, lovely. I used to like playing hanzo more than widow but now she’s the only sniper they didn’t take one shot away from. Hanzo now feels like you have to spam to kill something or get someone to pocket you

Hanzo was never a problem to deal with in Overwatch. Each character needs a leader like this protecting the community behind it.
People just love to complain about getting randomly headshot by a hanzo like other characters can’t accidentally shoot them and cause them to die. I feel like you die even more randomly now because he’s much more spam centered unless you have a pocket but good luck getting that

I stopped maining Hanzo seasons ago, but I‘ve never been mad when a Hanzo "randomly" headshotted me, cause I know that it takes skill to hit that shot
I had my hanzo era where i only played hanzo for like a month and the amount of lucky shots i hit were insane, i also killed a invisible sombra twice while aiming for someone else lol, hanzo takes skill but you will get so many kills just being lucky and shooting your pointy logs into a random direction

Hanzo was my favorite sniper but widow is the only sniper that can one shot now. Barely touched hanzo once i saw the headshots weren’t one shot anymore. Sad to see what they’ve done and knowing Blizzard they probably won’t change it

Every time I get into a ranked game and want to play hanzo, I just can't bring myself to do it, because he is just so bad right now, there is no way to secure kills with this character. I always end up switching to another dps. This is especially frustrating when you see the enemy team and think to yourself: "Hanzo would have been perfect against this comp before season 9". I am not saying give us 1 shot back if thats the big issue, but give us something, the character is just so bad right now.
You have to be the team's bitch and only focus on something someone else is already fighting - Hanzo lost all ability to perform the DPS role he was designed to fill as a mid range sniper skill shot champion.
I kept Overwatch 2 coins to buy a Hanzo shop skin, but I agree with everything what you said, either way the price for the skin is silly, they literally just added a new tattoo, a mask and dyed his hair white and you have to pay 19 dollars for that 😐 and I don't want to talk about the cringe emote

Honestly I'm a Cassidy main and they ruined Cass too as a hero and left him there with his bad grenade hinder ability. Taking his gun range for literally no reason. And didn't touch it for the past like 3 seasons.
I used to play hanzo a lot when he one shoted but like if hanzo doesn't oneshot then widow shouldn't be able to oneshot as well. Especially while she's hitscan and hanzo not.

Making these changes for more “casual” gameplay was so unbelievably stupid. I once played hanzo a lot, much more than widow. Since that one shot change happened i’ve barely touched him
Arrge, thank you for making this video to speak for us. They add the all hero's health, reset genji's dmg, speed up his blade, and just "ignore" the hanzo's reduceded dmg, from 250 to 240, 125 to 120, and they called it improvement... Blizzard is trash since 2019 or 2020, guess it will continue until it's dead.

I haven't even played the game at all since the last Hanzo changes. They made him super boring to play and clearly missed the mark with the intended goal to 'make it less frustrating' to fight Hanzo because now you just spam chokepoints more than ever and whether you die or not is also almost entirely random. Changing Hanzo from an assassin who excels at taking out squishies to basically just a pure dps probably isn't super fun for tanks either since most of them get blown up fast enough from the dps passive alone already and don't need another hero on the roster who just unloads all their abilities like Storm Arrows on the largest target on the field. Not to mention Hanzo is directly outclassed in that regard by most hitscans anyway and especially widow since hitscan bullets are now much easier to hit while dealing a similar amount of damage or even 1-shotting most heroes in the case of Widowmaker. Hanzo has lost his niche in the meta

I got into hanzo partially due to this channel, and wanting be less of a spray and pray dps. I fell in love with the character, play style, mind games, and honestly improved as a player dramatically. Now its almost more effective to spray and pray as Hanzo. So yeah i'll be standing my ground on this one.
How to convince them to bring one shot back: make the arrow charge extra 0.5s from 240 dmg to 250 dmg, but keep the same charge rate for it to go to 240 as now.
And make some sounds that indicate both charges 🎮

It feels like there wasn’t a ton of thought that went into Hanzo's "rework". I bet if this iteration of the hero is ever meta people will find him more annoying to play into than when he could 1 shot

on a real note though, i haven’t really touched hanzo since. the one time i played him, it was basically just a game of spamwatch instead of incorporating my play style. i miss playing him, but that’s just not fun whatsoever. it’s terrible.
Same here with barely touching him now. He used to be my favorite sniper to play but now it doesn’t feel good anymore. Hit a hard headshot but can’t finish the kill? Welp too bad, unless your team kills them for you they’ve already completely healed back up and aren’t going to peak you when low. He genuinely feels more centered around using storm arrows now

Love your content Arrge. Been watching you for a while and I’m so frustrated with what they’ve done to Hanzo. I’ve always maimed him and since season 9, I’ve struggled so hard to continue to be motivated that I started practicing other heroes I didn’t normally practice till his nerfs. It’s really sad.
We must let blizzard know that they need to offer more compensation to him since they took his one shot away. That was huge for Hanzo mains. Those were the shots that kept us coming back.
Anyway, your content is always entertaining and educational to watch and I appreciate all the hard work you put into making these videos.

I dont like fighting Hanzo, but out of both snipers, he who has more depth than a shallow pond is the one that gets gutted? If one shots are going to stay in the game in any shape, way or form, and it'd be unreasonable for them not to, then Hanzo should absolutely be allowed to have his without any ifs or buts.
If they were so worried about the hitbox changes pushing him over the edge, maybe they should've known better than to make hitbox changes in the first place.

If you can't resist the emote, get it directly from the hero select menu. It's 500 coins (which you can get from the battle pass if you grind it fast enough so that you get it before Hanzo's swapped out in a couple days) or deny blizz $20 instead of buying the whole bundle.

I think keeping legacy hitboxes for widow and Hanzo at least gives them a reason to retain their one-shot. Plus, I think both communities utterly detest the projectile buff anyway, given how much time we put into our aim intensive characters.

Honestly I don’t expect them to change anything. It’s obvious none of the developers main/ play hanzo. The worst thing about the nerf is the lack of clips and having plays that would’ve won a team fight get you killed. Other than that I got use to the nerf. I like to flick a lot already and I kinda like the intensive aiming you gotta be able to do now

As i've said before - The evidence is shown by how Kenzo was launched well into top 500 after the changes and your rank dropped and stagnated. You two were frequently dueling, and it was always a pleasure to watch. If that is not a barometer for how damaging the changes have been i don't know what is.

these nerfs force you to play bunched with your team and spam arrows imo, I don't have the accuracy Arrge has I think in a good day I'm between 25-30% critical accuracy, which means the 3 headshots I managed to hit out of 10 didn't freaking kill the Ana or the Mercy!! instead they just ran back to cover and heal, or if i do manage to get the kill is solely because i had storm arrow up and i was able to spam another shot to kill them. Which means Hanzo without cooldowns is utterly useless honestly this feels so so bad!
I mained Hanzo about 4-5 years ago and played OW everyday. I stopped playing and only came back last year(on-off) and it's sad too see how the character has been treated since.

Death match when you get a good middle ground and ping 5 people back to back was the best, even getting a nice 3 piece felt great but that red hit marker just feels horrible now. Patch day and I had no kills till 4 min in the game

widow is a true sniper, has less hp and her only utility to the team is she clickin heads as for hanzo he got spam damage, wallhack arrow and literally goes for 240 damage headshot which is a lot even if is not a oneshot as widow.
I think a good rework for Hanzo would be if his arrows charged based on how long you hold the arrow. Hanzo should have a meter. Quick shot arrows shouldn't one shot but a full change arrow should.

As a devoted Hanzo main and DM enjoyer I just don't play him anymore. It used to be so rewarding going to long distance or jump pad sharpshooters on maps like Eichenwalde or Petra..having to predict movement and calculate arrow speed and drop was a real skill not everyone understood and appreciated but the one shot nerf combined with losing your bow draw on wallclimb just killed all skill expression and FUN for the hero. It's especially bad in DM when a HS on a full HP target means someone is going to sneeze on them and take all the credit. He went from being my most played hero to not even being a character
I've been actually active on the forums (though I hate them) and YT comments and giving my thoughts on Hanzo every chance I get! We need more Hanzo content creators to speak out! Thank you for this, Arrge! Love this content and we need more of it! Hanzo can't be allowed to be this way, I'm not sure I'd even accept a full rework. Calculated OHKs is the dopamine magic behind this hero, and why so many of us chose to main him from the start!
Just saying, I don't only play Hanzo. I'm extending this to ALL cosmetics. Blizz is not getting any of my money until this hero gets buffed. The cash is much better used to help support the Hanzo content creators who are losing revenue due to Hanzo being in his current state.

I'd like to see a compromise here. Since we can't 1 shot, we should get the ability to hold charges with wall climb back. I really hate playing as a spamzo and at least we would recover some skill expression back.. albeit not much.
I’m a qp hanzo, although I wouldn’t call my self a hanzo main. I feel your frustration Arrge and you voiced it well. The changes to hanzo made led me to play doomfist more. Hanzo just doesn’t have the impact and corner spamming gets old. I won’t buy the cosmetics as support Arrge.

I got into this game from watching your videos, and how fun it is to headshot people with a bow. Well now I can’t do that no more and I can never confirm kills so I don’t even play the game anymore 😅

I’ve mained many heroes but hanzo was one of them with nearly 100 hours and just as I started to really enjoy him is when they removed the one shot. Now I hardly play him. It’s just irritating to have to shoot someone twice to kill or 3 times to the body to kill when his fire rate is much less than most other heroes. I die to a mcree or soldier faster than I do to a hanzo nowadays. And I barely see him anymore either as well as junkrats cuz his combo was removed. It just sad honestly. Trust me I won’t buy anything for him. And I didn’t plan on it even before watching this. Much love arrge❤️🙌🏼
They should just revert the hitbox and put him back at 125 per arrow but make storm arrow do 65 again. It’ll restore what they’ve done
Ive been trying to get all hero achievements as Im relatively new. I really wish I worked on Hanzo before season 9 because the storm arrow one feels so impossible without the headshot 1 shot

That 45% win rate you mentioned was spot on. I started playing hanzo the last few weeks (never had since 2019 that I started) and the winrate doesn’t want to climb above 45%-47%. Granted I play him in QP but still 😂

So youre saying that because he can be played in an ineffective, spray and pray fashion by Bronze players, that his skill cap should be in the gutter? that he should be non-viable in higher elos for players with a modicum of skill? How does that make sense?

As a point OW's balance team really looks at pick rate so if everyone just stopped playing hanzo for a bit that would kick them up the ass to do something
Hanzo main since OW1 season 1 and now it just feels like I only pick him if I get double or tripple out-picked on widow since widow does everything that hanzo does but better.
This games balance is not based on skills, but rather on how the player emotions fluctuate.
I feel like the Nerf to him being able to climb a wall whilst also having a knocked arrow was the beginning of the end for this fucking character they just don’t like Hanzi and the data developers just hate hanzo. Now there is a blatant hit scan bias and I genuinely don’t think anything that this community does it’s going to change anything. I wish we could get back to that the fairness of actually having store Merrill be fucking useful, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had shot somebody just to have it do literally nothing how the fuck is that fair? Do you know if a person with less of a critical rate and you call that fair but you don’t know if the person that has a higher critical rate.
I dont play Hanzo but I love your content. I dont necessarily think he should get his one shot back but all the other nerfs seem completely ridiculous

I only bought Cupid Hanzo last year because it was such a fun skin, but after the changes, even though I can't help myself to keep playing the character, since after 300 hours on him he's like by far my best dps, getting those predict headshots from very far away, seeing the enemy live with 10 hp and hide just fucking sucks, I seriously doubt they will ever give the oneshot back to Hanzo at this point, but as far as cosmetics go I'll never buy a single Hanzo skin from the shop again.
I uninstalled overwatch and I won't be installing it until they make my fav character (and the reason I loved playing overwatch) fun again.
thank you. i used to play a ton of hanzo, even recorded clips. blizzard removing his 1-shot was the worst thing to happen to the game in a long time. suppressing skill expression for casual players

Exactly!! Thank you for putting this out Arrge. The emote alone is a disgrace to his character. With Venture's release, we're getting into more of a brawl type game and I didn't play Hanzo for 500 hours just to suddenly switch to a new playstyle. It's really unfair for dedicated players. Hope we can all still find some fun regardless.
