Remember you bought a house as a single mom. That is a huge investment. You are doing amazing.

I get the feelings of disappointment…. But having those shares allowed you to do the work to create your lovely home. So you’ve already started creating that life for you and your boys.

Don’t look back, look forward.Who else do you know that has bought a house, renovated it,started a new life etc as a single mother?Your achievements are extraordinary and will continue because of your persistence and determination.I think you have done brilliantly but if you keep comparing to the past and will make you sad and blind you from seeing how successful you really are.

You’re an experienced person basically starting again that’s valuable content wise, seeing people with big accounts is less interesting than going along with someone.

Wishing you the best on your new dividend journey. Looking forward to seeing those figures steadily rise again. There are several FTSE 100 companies which pay out 4 times a year which may help generate dividends every month with a combination of just a few of them.

Thanks Nicola - I love these videos so count me in with the group that is happy to see them again. Have you had to sell your stocks to divide them between you two? I assume so! You'll be surprised how fast you can build that up again. Keep up the good work and transperancy.

Thank you! Yes, to divide and then I sold even more of my own share to be able to fund the house renovations.

Sorry you're so disheartened with the state of play at the moment, but I think its evident that you're on a good track now and things are most definitely on the up. Bought you a coffee to help lift your mood and also can I say I personally miss the snoring cat backtrack, was too cute!! Upwards and onwards Nic xxx

Similar thing happened with me, I got addicted to gambling during the financial crisis of 2009 to 2011 and I lost all my money got into heavy debt and about ‘15 years’ I had to start from negative numbers and I am not far away from where I was at the highest point.

  • @DestinationWealth1
    @DestinationWealth1 Před 2 měsíci +1

Keep grinding away Nicola, you're doing great. Took me quite a while to finally have a £1000+ month in dividend Income. Just keep re-investing those dividends via DRIP.
If you are interested in putting the work in and investing in individual stocks, there are a few good ones out there that increase their dividends year on year and often pay a 'Special' dividend which is nice.
A couple I own that often do this are Greggs (GRG) and Games Workshop (GAW).
I'll be releasing a video soon on my channel outlining the process I use to invest in individual stocks, it's not for everyone and you have to put the work in but I do enjoy it.
    All the best
    Adam

Thanks for sharing, i do like to see these videos. Perhaps another way to view it is as you reaping the rewards of 8 years worth of investing by having your lovely new home for you and your boys. The safety and security that brings ❤️ You having your financial cushion bought that for you and your boys❤️ Well done, I know you perhaps don't feel it but you are doing amazing financially 👍

One step at a time Nicola. There is no point looking back as what’s gone is gone we cannot change what’s gone. The future is ours and that the only thing we can influence. In the last year you have moved forward in leaps and bounds building a new life for you and your boys. You know how to build wealth you have done it before just be patient and the good times will return. You are a strong women be proud of what you have achieved and look to the future.

I get your feelings of disappointment but you have gained a lot of knowledge over the last 8 years. I definitely think you should keep that spreadsheet but maybe consider starting a new spreadsheet for 2024 onwards as it's a new start on your investing journey and also so that the difference in numbers isn't so in your face. Just a thought. Think it's great your investing and I'd love to start but definitely need to really look into it first.

In terms of generating videos for the CZcams views, could you do videos on how your original portfolio might be looking if you still had it? I know it might be upsetting, but I'm thinking people might be interested and it could generate views. You have a lot of drive and I'm sure it will grow again one day soon.

I understand why you feel so sad, but as others have said you have just bought and refitted a house on one income which really is a huge achievement. Your past investment knowledge has enabled you to have some additional money to help towards the renovations. We are in a similar position as we used virtually all our savings last October to buy and furnish our home. It is a shock to see the change in figures, but just think how much you have achieved, even more so because you are doing it alone.
