Aims: Improve my health, and do not get overwhelmed by family's problems. As opposed to "solve all of my family's problems, then I'll be fine"

I don’t make resolutions as such. What I do is release the negatives. On NYE I write a list of the behaviours, toxicity and other issues that I DONT want to carry with me in the New Year. I then burn the list and mentally see the smoke taking all those things away. It’s very freeing! Good luck on your journey - you deserve it ❤️

Good for you Nicola! My only new year thought is to prioritise myself more as you know mums are bad for putting ourself at bottom of list
That’s a great aim as well!
Your physical and mental health are the keys to your well being and success, good sleep is the cornerstone of all. Improving nutrition and eating natural whole foods can be done cheaply and in batches. I got rid of processed foods, sweets, crisps and sugary drinks two years ago and it’s saved me a fortune. The savings cleared credit card and short term loans first and now it’s overpaying the mortgage. I got some bicycles from a mobility charity and started cycling with my kids along canal paths and National Cycle routes. We bring a healthy packed lunch, snacks and waterproofs and get out for the whole day in nature, it’s really helped us all to bond as a family as there isn’t a mobile phone or tablet used for the whole day. Your 2024 looks as if it will be very full already, with house renovations, house move and all the busy things you do. Take care and take small changes as you go along, you will make leaps and bounds as your year bares fruit!

Acceptance = things take time. It’s just being realistic. For me it’s allowing myself extra time, since I don’t move as quick as I used to. I’m happy to see the light back in your eyes. I know you will do well with your three pronged approach! Happy New Year Nicola! 🎉

Nice to hear the excitement in your voice. I too get impatient but waiting for the house to be made right, before moving in, will make the transition so much easier. Enjoy the process as it will show you just how far you have come in the end. Bet the house will turn out beautifully too. I think my word is going to be frugality. I want to see how frugal I can be and having fun with that challenge. I know that I can be a better steward with my money. So I will be starting the year with both a pantry challenge and a no spend January. I am excited.

I love having an intention for the year and then writing a little story that starts with "If I could wave a magic wand...." and then write what that magic life looks like and then work backwards to see what I have to do to achieve it. Good luck with it all, sounds like a very exciting year

I love your pillar of acceptance! Such a good idea.
My top 3 aims for the year are:
1) Build my savings back up
2) Feel less like a potato! (Eg, build activity and better eating habits into my day)
3) Declutter the heck out of my house
Really hoping I can make progress in these areas this year.

General aims for the year ….Putting me 1st…as opposed to last. More joy…reconnect with the little things that make or have made me happy over my life. Make new friends …rest more and tiny steps for everything…get help , save for therapy ! Wishing you joy in your journey 😊

I'm thinking more positively and thinking in present tense ( if that makes sense! ) I'm not going to stand for any nonsense this year either in my work life. I'm too old !!!

Sometimes it helps to look at thing from another perspective. If you could fast forward six months to have the house done, think of all those precious moments with your kids that you would have missed and never get back.
