    Fun video! Thanks for showing this off. Although not terribly clear, in the Act II faq, they explain that "gain" means put into play while "add to inventory" means it is available only in later games. For potions, this means that heroes can equip and use all potions that they find (but are not added to the campaign inventory for later games), even if they exceed the cap of 3 per player. I think in the first game, gained legendaries are usable immediately. The new act has longer and more intense games but fewer overall (which I think was the opposite of what most people wanted). I think 3 to 6 hours is a reasonable time block of this game to setup, play, and teardown. Good luck if you play more!

      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Thanks for the clarification! That makes sense. And yeah, these scenarios are stretching longer than I usually prefer

    Did they integrate voice acting into Act 2 by any chance? Since the addition of Foreteller to a lot of narrative driven campaign games, I find it more difficult to go to these that don't have that or something similar? I'm very close to beating Act 1 but have found my last few sessions to be kind of difficult to get into because of how much reading there is from various viewpoints

    • @BoardGamesUnLocked
      @BoardGamesUnLocked Před 10 měsíci +1

      Btw, I know you're reading the flavor text but I wasn't sure if that was a decision you made for the video or if that's because you had to

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 10 měsíci

      Nope, still just text for better or worse!
      I had a blast with act 1 when I was playing with my main group. We each voiced a couple of the characters and made up silly voices for them and such. It’s definitely been less fun reading it solo 😅

    • @BoardGamesUnLocked
      @BoardGamesUnLocked Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@OneStopCoopShop That would make it easier for sure. I played it two player and did all the reading and it destroyed my throat. Lol

    i have finally got around to playing the first act as i bought it a year ago and then it kind of just sat on the shelf of shame while i kind of painted the minis
    loving act 1 though now that i have finally started getting into it, its much easier to deal with if you have a good organiser for all the prebuilt parts
    act 2 though, still on the fence though if i want to spend that much time and money on it... it does look good though

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 10 měsíci

      I think if you love act 1 this should be an easy purchase. It’s more of what you like but with even cooler terrain and more level ups

  • @shaneannigans

    I really wish FFG would reprint the older Terrinoth games.
    I have all the ones I want, and their expansions, I just wish others could experience them like I get to.
    I understand that FFG is a company that needs to focus on profit but perhaps they could utilise crowd-funding to mitigate financial risk. Looking at the prices on the secondary market, there must be some demand. Heck, I'd buy second back-up copies.

    • @s.spikoski5120
      @s.spikoski5120 Před 10 měsíci +2

      Completely agree. I have most of the expansions I want EXCEPT Labyrinth Of Ruin which is required for one of the app campaigns. The app is our preferred method of playing, so that really sucks! I still have my fingers crossed they will do a reprint someday... maybe after this game starts to dwindle in its popularity.

    • @mattlowder
      @mattlowder Před 10 měsíci +1

      Did you play heroes of terrinoth? Fun, hard game, puzzly, and FF gave up in it instantly and didn't support it. After 2019, they're dead to me.

    Are the pieces and tiles of act 1 necessary for act 2?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 9 měsíci +1

      They are indeed. This adds a bunch of new tiles and ways to bring more verticality to the setups, like in this video, but you still use a ton of original content.

  • @tradenmyr
    @tradenmyr Před 10 měsíci +1

    I’m torn. I enjoyed the first act, although I think my desire to finish it meant I was just slogging through the last few scenarios. But the overall experience was fun (looting / building up / strategizing). I did finally preorder act 2 - mostly because I’m getting the Hobby Next stuff and I have $125 in store credit for it. At the very least, I will enjoy painting the models.
    Thanks for reminding me of all the feelings I had for this game - the elation at critical hits and ability chaining, and the disappointment when the scenario just won’t end lol.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 10 měsíci

      Yeah, both the scenarios and the campaign overall feel just slightly longer than I want them to be. But the new minis look great if you are painting them. That dragon!?!?!

    • @aviduke
      @aviduke Před 6 měsíci +1

      for me this 2nd act fixes many complaints with the first act, however, there's even more story and it's even bigger and seems to take me around 5-6 per quest.
      it's like they have tried to make it more like 1ed in the character builds and multiple dice rolls. 1ed is still better imo but the app is fantastic and I think act 2 is a big improvement

  • @mattlowder
    @mattlowder Před 10 měsíci +8

    Man, I'm glad I held on to my journeys into the dark second edition. When I bought it in 2015, I had no idea how much I'd like it, even with no expansions. Just started a campaign with my 8 year old and wife. The artwork and setup time seem better in that edition. I don't "hate" tablet-required games, but this feels more fiddly and much more expensive. I paid 75 bucks for that 2nd edition, a price we'll never see again for a box like Arcadia quest and the like. I feel very fortunate I'm not getting into fantasy gaming today. I love it, but it's so bloated and expensive now.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 10 měsíci +6

      I’m still a fan of 2nd edition too, especially the app-enabled coop play they added later

    • @shaneannigans
      @shaneannigans Před 10 měsíci +2

      Love 2nd edition!
      I've got all the expansions for it but the core box is so amazing.
      I play it solo with variants (I have the app but prefer the original turn structure) but hope to play it again with my wife and, when he's old enough, son.

    Hah, I notice Brynn's helmet is much less ridiculous now.
    Curious about any gameplay and mission improvements. My group eventually found all the missions and gameplay rather boring. Not enough build crafting with the slow trickle of skills.

    App driven games go against everything I love about the hobby. I don't buy them as I don't want to contribute to a potential "app boom" in the future. That said, hope you guys have a blast with it.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 10 měsíci +2

      I like how they are used in some games, and hate how they are used in others. But they’ve been around for years now and haven’t ruined anything or signaled the apocalypse, so I’m not too worried 😜

      @p0ck3tp3ar Před 10 měsíci

      The modern generation is increasingly interested in and reliant on technology, so I fear this could one day be the norm for many types of games. Hopefully not.

    Why would anyone buy this game? If one wants screen interaction just buy any roleplaying video game - they're better and have more story. If one wants boardgame just get Descent 2nd edition or one of many similar dungeon crawlers.

      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 10 měsíci +2

      I think there are some excellent games that have app integration in different forms, so that’s not a dealbreaker for me. That’s not to say that descent specifically does app integration in a way I enjoy 😅

      When I'm playing solo I don't consider moving and tracking enemies to be playing the game, nor do I find it fun. So if an app can do that for me it makes me enjoy the actually game play of a board game even more. Just my preference.

      Because some people like both. I’ve played the first act and really enjoyed the synergy of the two. We’re all different, this game is exactly what many people do like and enjoy.

  • @kraziel
    @kraziel Před 10 měsíci +7

    My god this game is such a slug-fest. A single dice roll and then so many clicking on the app, that is so freaking mediocre and boring. Second Edition is a thousand times better than this, we play it every week, and I'm relieved now thaat we own almost all of the expansions for 2nd edition, we can't get enough of it, instead of this 3rd edition pile of crap.

    • @OneStopCoopShop

      I find running it on a laptop makes it a far easier experience. To me recording something on an app of paper really doesnt detract from the experience one way or another its just a different interface to busy the table with.

      I own the 3.
      2ed is quality. I'm still a massive fan of 1st.
      played 2ed the other day for the first time this year. it was nice to have so much rubbish story to click through. it seems more grown up than legends of the dark.
