I’ve been using this product since it’s introduction, and I’m extremely happy with it. We have two cars that are parked outside in a hot part of So Cal., and for the last four years I’ve used nothing but Meguiar’s hybrid wax. It’s done a fantastic job of protecting the clear coat, and the paint hasn’t degraded in our hot summer sun (100+) degrees. I reapply once a month by simply spraying on after washing and wiping dry. Easy. I’ve tried many other ceramics on my garaged car, but this product is my favorite. Note: after washing, I spray on to refresh, but I spread it evenly with a microfiber cloth, then spray off with an intense steam of water (fog pattern), no straight stream. I then use my leaf blower to remove water, and finish off with soft towels. Done.

Tried it about 6 weeks ago exactly as instructed for first use on a F150 SuperCrew (same $5 rebate deal). Streaked and difficult to remove. Application partly sunny, ambient temp about 55F. Since 2003, I've typically hand waxed this vehicle approx. 2-3 times a year with #26 liquid (outside vehicle, excellent paint condition prior to Ceramic use).
After it snowed and rained off and on for a week, re-applied Ceramic 2 weeks ago as per post-initial use instructions. Again, streaking although less difficult to wipe off (600 gsm, Korean MF). IMO, Ceramic Wax is not durable. Pretty much irrelevant that it's super slick and beads water nicely 5 minutes after application. Try Sonax High Speed Wax. On a different vehicle, same weather conditions, beading beautifully 6 weeks later after a few car washes. No streaking, easy removal, long lasting beading.

d75095451 Thank you for your input! I like hearing other people’s thoughts that have tried the same product. I didn’t have an issue with streaking but I have heard other people say they did. I made an 1 week update video yesterday and it’s still holding up nicely. We had snow and rain and it did great so far. Only time will tell how long it lasts. Thanks again for watching and commenting.

Thanks, I'm just a shade-tree hand detailer. Light stuff, no "corrections," power units, etc. I've been using all kinds of light polish, glaze, cleaner wax, scratch-out etc. stuff for over 30 years on my personal vehicles. I have always like and trust Meguiars' products. I'm not a boutique detail guy.
I've got about 20% of the ceramic bottle left after 2 uses on the truck and one on a smaller car also with excellent paint. Maybe I applied too much but in both cases, outside application in modest temps trying to follow instructions exactly. Don't let it accidently dry!!
Thanks to you for the honest open-minded approach and effort posting your results. Keep us posted on your 6 week results.@@FABAutomotiveDetailing

I bought the Ceramic wax at Wal-Mart today. $13.97 a bottle. They had 5 bottles on the shelve. I usually buy NuFinish in the orange bottle and mix it with mirror finish number 7 from Meguairs. Put it down with a orbitor polisher. The new finish does last a whole year. Do not Put to much down with The NuFinish or it It's hard to get Off! I will be testing the Ceramic wax. My test vehicle is a 2005 Ford Taurus. I have 162,000 on the car. It sits outside alot. But the paint is in great shape. Today is 5-20-19. The NuFinish was still beading up when I washed and put the Ceramic wax on. It went on EASY! Put it on with a sponge with micro cloth on each side.Sprayed the Ceramic wax on the sponge first it was windy here today. Then wash it off with water and dried it off. The car was very clean and it shined really well. But will it hold up? I also did my wife's car a white 2004 Concorde with 160,000 miles on it. The white paint really looked good when I got done. The car has chrome factory rims. Which I Put the Ceramic wax on too. Try not to get it on the brake rotors. They also looked great! So, I will let this ceramic wax go for a month and see if it needs more wax put on or how long it beads. Shawn

I use it in my detailing business. My customers love the shine and durability. It lasts and lasts. Have done 6 cars with one bottle. It cost me $13.97 at Wal-Mart. I buy microfiber sponges for $ 1.97 there too. Apply it with spraying on to sponge. Back and forth side to side motion then hit the car with water and dry. That's it! Great product!! Shawn

Most of the CZcamsrs that start their own line of products and begin to hawk them incessantly I stop watching. Some just become promoters for anyone that sends them stuff, so for me they just lose all credibility.

On applying it after the first initial application you could probably just spray it on and either rinse it off or use as a drying aid and work well.

    I can't stop laughing...
    Great video!
What you fail to understand, my video had nothing to do with if it beads water or not.
I used 3 bottles before my video by the way.
It was about all the false claims on the bottle..
Testing the product has nothing to do with that.
On a sidenote, meguiars reached out to me and could do nothing legally with my claims since the SDS speaks for itself and they said no sio2 is present in the bottle.
They use siloxane and a by product called sio4.
As professionals educating the buying public on CZcams.
We need to do our research and tell the truth.
If you're ok with false claims like calling something a ceramic when it's not and using sio2 when it has none..
    I honor that..
SDS sheets don't lie, just look at megs xpress spray wax SDS, they claim siloxane because it's required by law at its concentration.
Even in this video you ask "is it a ceramic?" And you say "I don't know"
Are you sure you should be reviewing this product and have a complete understanding of what a true ceramic is?
Your point of a patent is completely wrong by the way with auto detailing chemicals..
Most can't patent because ingredients used are already protected or listed as a hazardous material if it's concentration is high in the bottle..
They hide behind proprietary when a particular chemical is low in concentration and isn't required by OSHA to claim.
Also the chemical that is needed for it to be a spray on and rinse off product isn't in the bottle..
So next time you use it on this truck since you have a base coat, spray it and rinse off..
You know what's going to happen?
Your driveway or floor is going to get very slick..lol
    Think about it my friend😀
Ps..when you applied the product the first time to this truck when it was wet, did you ring out your towel after?
Most of the product gets absorbed into the towel and when you ring out, your sink will be bright blue.
    I wonder why?
Brian with apex detail by the way got into a big argument with meguiars privately over this product😀
    The things you don't know...

Everyones biggest complaint with your video is that you spoke so bad of this product and didn't at least take the time show us the product in use like you have done with every product until now! I've watched videos that you show a product and end up saying guys I wouldn't buy this and you show us why. You failed to mention to your audience that you used 3 bottles of it, all you said it wasn't worth your time. Like I said in the video it is not a ceramic and I have no idea if there is SIO2 in it. Yes I know about ceramics because I have a ceramic coated vehicle that I coated myself. I am not ok with false claims and I mentioned that also but my point is if a product works that is what is important to me most people. Nobody reads the SDS on every product they buy so why read it on this one. Whatever is in this product it works and that's what matters to the buying public. How long will it last I have no idea but I think a month would be good at that price point. That is an interesting point that when you spray it on and rinse most of it goes on the floor because I was thinking the same thing. Sounds like a good test to make in the future. I did not make this video to start an argument with any one it was just showing my point of view and what I think you failed at showing your video. It's as simple as that!

My other issue is when new products come out you never see other companies bashing another companies product! Could you imagine if a company for example Chemical Guys bashing a new Griot's or Adam's product on a video then releasing it to the public? No and they won't do that! I mean come on you are business owner selling detailing products now. Make videos showing us why your products are the best in your opinion and leave it at that. One aspect on all the channels is not one person has explained how to wash you microfiber towels, meaning that they all have different thickness or GSM from 50 to 500 GSM and depending on what products was used on each of the towels, when you need to wash them, is the soap powder you use strong enough to get rid of whatever is on those towels, like do you use as color safe bleach to make sure to get rid of the excess product which maybe in the towels and then, how are you going to know, especially if the products used is really good, meaning that it hard to remove even if you have a real ceramic coating on it and you tested the panel with prepsol to try to remove the test pane and the towels you used to apply it to the panel to level it out, which then has ceramic product on it, yet your washing the towels with normal everyday washing machine soap powder ?

I did make a how to clean your microfibers video but it was one of my first videos and is terrible. I was using our very old washing machine and we have since replaced it. I should probably make another video on it. You definitely don’t want to use a powder detergent. You want a dye and fabric softener free liquid detergent like All free and clear with warm water. I use to use Griot’s Garage Microfiber and foam pad cleaner with the detergent. Now i just put a 1/4-1/2 cup of white vinegar in and the towels come out nice, soft and clean. Then dry on low heat or no heat with no fabric softener sheets. I threw away my towels I used when I Ceramic coated our car. At first i washed them and was going to keep them but the more I thought about it I figured it wasn’t worth the risk. Hope this helps!

@@FABAutomotiveDetailing i guess i should clarify what i was talking about. not to make this super long but what you and jm mustangs were talking about name and reputation of a company putting out products i feel is not how businesses are run. this isnt the old day were reputation was most important than anything else. when companies are around this long, its not just because a product is good. its because of marketing and advertising. consumers have been trained for decades to buy on "feeling" and "impulse" and less on factual information. do u think if that bottle of meguiars was $50 ppl would buy it? if it works it works right? no! theyre marketing has pursuaded the market to believe that based on there name and reputation we can put a few catch phrases and ppl will buy em up because in the end all the care about is "beading" water and the uneducated consumer has no idea how to tell if its actually protecting the paint because all they care about is clean and shiny and round drops of water on their paint. bottom line: businesses care about money and sales. without it they wouldnt be in business. im all for if it works for u use it. but since when was it a crime to use our god given brains to think and not just assume truth to what we were told or what we have seen?

In the MSDS for this product, which anyone can access, the ingredients are siloxanes and silicones, reaction
products with chlorotrimethylsilane. So the product is certainly depositing silicon dioxide, which is ceramic. It's very similar to Rain-X.
I only suggest you wear gloves with this because the solvent can cause skin irritation.
As for the patents -there is nothing in this that is novel, and patents on all this chemistry expired decades ago. Patents for new chemistry are extremely rare.
There is no "controversy", just a lot of CZcams clickbaiting.
Versus wax, it remains to be seen if this silicon deposition self-heals like wax does. It may repel water because the surface is hydrophobic, but this might still allow oxygen to get to metal through microfissures waxes seal up and re-seal when they warm up. This is likely why Meguire's suggests frequent reapplication.

Thank you for your comment! That’s what I have been reading also. My father just retired from Dow Chemical as of January first. He was a chemist there for over 30 years. They apply for patents quite o ften on new chemicals. In fact they have a team of lawyers that that’s all they do. Not disagreeing with you about the patents just thought I would put that out there. Yes it is very hydrophobic. Only time will tell if it actually protects the paint. Thanks again for watching and commenting

I spoke to two of Meguiar’s customer service people about my applying the product per the bottle instructions. My results were subpar, had areas on vertical panels where spraying and rinsing didn’t provide coverage/leveling. Flat surfaces were fine. I told the reps that most professional detainers were applying as you did and right away they b9th became defensive and said they had no time to hear about the product being applied properly and pretty much ended the call because it was my fault their product didn’t work well on my 12 month old car. I have used Meguiar’s Fast Finish and recommend it as a superior product. Ceramic is a marketing hype word and people are falling into the trap. Want to see real ceramic coating, they are on CZcams. Save your money and stick to products that professional retailers use and recommend. Best to you.

You could distill piss and mix the water content with 5% liquid carnuba and get a spray wax out of it. I suppose it wouldn't matter since certain people are ok with juat buying a product without any care of what's in the product but as long as it works.
At the very least we can take the core marketing term used as ceramic and say that its sio2 based just the same as typical waxs are marketed as carnuba based. HCW on the other hand is a hybrid of a type of sio2 and something else. Its most likely a cheap ingredient mixed with 95% water since this product has horrible longterm protection.

    • @FABAutomotiveDetailing
      @FABAutomotiveDetailing  Před 5 lety +1

OblivionDio I haven’t met 1!detailer or DIY’er that knows everything that’s in everyone of the products they use. I’m sure you don’t know either.
It’s not meant for long term protection! It’s like any other spray wax that gives you protection in between washes. I got over a month out of the base application which isn’t bad for a $9 product.

    • @obliviondio
      @obliviondio Před 5 lety +1

      @@FABAutomotiveDetailing
If it's not meant for longterm usage even though its an sio2 based product consisting of UP to 5% of an inhouse sio2 mixture in that 26oz bottle then that's pathetic when the premise of silicone dioxide and titanium dioxide both are sweeping the auto detailing world with their long lasting benefits over caranuba and others which is why ceramic coatings are very expensive.
If this product wasn't soo heavily watered down then you would have gotten much better results than a mere 5 weeks on your truck. On the other hand, if they were to release a more concentrated version of the formula then that would be much more acceptable so it would allow the end user to dilute it to whatever ratio they want instead of a stand alone product. Even Meguiars recognizes how poor the performance of this product is over water without an established base coat which is why they recommend on their website and label that you first need a basecoat before you can use it as a spray/rinse solution for maintenance. Better products like HydroBlue, Spray N Seal, Wet Coat, just to name a few, are't hindered by this since they have a thicker formula than HCW. They will also provide longer lasting protection. Anywonder why they cost more?

The same thing in synthetic blend motor oil. The term is miss leading. The term synthetic blend. Most people think it %50/ %50 blend but it's not! It can be %10 and%90 and still be called a synthetic blend. So the term Ceramic is B.S. But I still tried it today. 5-20-19. Now just waiting to see how long before I re apply the Hybird wax. Shawn
