    I had a similar reaction when I fired one of these up the first time. Just about gave my mother a heart attack when I showed her four of these in parallel...

      I bought one of these because I wanted to build them into the headlights for my truck - to express how happy I was for the driver in front of me to pull out ahead of me and drive very slow.

    I've seen the measured voltage of one of these and it's max is 10kv, pulsed dc. Oh, BTW they break within a few days.

    That reaction. I ordered one of the so called 1000kv inverters but I'm pretty certain it won't arc 30cm lol(displacement of air and all that)

  • @itube612
    @itube612 Před 7 lety +2

    the wires are supossed to be no futher apart than 11 milimters at 3-4V, and around 20+ for 4-6. I've seen a video when guy had it on 2x3.7V=7.4V, but it's hard to tell if it doesn't shorten the life of the inverter. 6V should be safe.

    had exactly the same reaction when I got mine, then made it into a hand held device with a 500mah 1s lipo, make wire electrodes that are at least 30cm away from the handle!
    then it's happy days

    actually, when working with coils the + and - doesn't matter since it is just a wire and no diodes have been placed since they would be useless.

    can this be used as static electricity generator?

    • @neutronenstern.
      @neutronenstern. Před 4 lety +2

      I tried it but it doesnt work (not with mine) These things are creating high voltage pulses. So you would have to store the whole energy in one capacitor which can hold this voltage and energy. you can build it with two metal plates and one 1-2mm sheet of plastic (PET should be good). But then theres another problem: the capacitor will discharge again and again because of the own resistance of the spark generator. So you will have to either rectify it or have a spark gap between the capacitor and the generator. But If you have just a spark gap it also doesnt work that well, because of this isnt only DC. I think inside of it is a cascade. This produces DC.But if theres a load on it (the capacitor is a load if there are just short pulses) then the cascade also produces AC. So it will be AC with a little bit amount of DC mixture. So it would be bether if you rectified it before putting it at the capacitor. And then finally you can make electrostatic expetiments with it. (you can use a very high resistor across the capasitor to limit the voltage and provent a damaging of the generator. This resistor should be around 1 G ohm (1*10^9) ohm. you can use a piece of wood as a variable resistor if you can move one contact on the wood).

    • @felixhultman8410
      @felixhultman8410 Před 6 lety

      From what I've heard, most of these are dead on arrival. I've bought three and out of those only one works.
      Putting 9V through it would probably be fine as long as you do it in short pulses.
