    That "other people think you're gay" thing really hits hard, my sister knew I was gay and kept trying to tell me she would accept me if I was gay and joking about girlfriends and stuff at least 5 or 6 years before I knew I was.

      I feel that. My sister always told me she'd love me no matter what. I never understood what she meant or sometimes I wasn't ready to tell her. That went out the window when I was 21. XD

    I’m the baby gay who’s still in denial and searching youtube in the hope that I can make sens of all of this... and I’m
    realising I am just the biggest cliché ever and didn’t even know it! Part of me watches those videos hoping that I won’t relate to them, but now I just have to give in because all of what you said is just SO me (strong STRONG friendship bond, very high standards in guys, so many girl celebrity crushes but can’t name one guy for the life of me, vegetarian, and I send my many plants to be plantsited when I’m on holiday with precise instructions because I love them like as if they were my children,...)

    I’m either bi or a lesbian, it may be because I don’t want to leave my comfort zone of “liking”guys. I have a crush on a gay girl, and I think she may like me back. I know that I don’t have to label myself and it’s not a race, but I just want to have answers to how I feel
    Edit, two months later: me and my crush talked, and it turns out that she’s flirty with all of our friends (we’re in the same friend group) and she doesn’t like me back :/, but I’m gay!

    Another huge indication you might be gay: In college, I would get drunk at parties specifically to have the confidence to kiss girls. I told myself I was doing it because guys would think it was hot, but I wouldn't even kiss girls in front of guys. It would be a girls night and I would suggest we play truth or dare or spin the bottle.... So if you're doing that, you might be gay haha

    is about feeling persicuted, and therefore being more sensitive to injustices.
    Same with often being more political etc.

    • @jezabelpoirier609
      @jezabelpoirier609 Před 4 lety +43

      That's true, but I think it also has a lot to do with unlearning things that we've been made to believe are undeniably true. Everyone growing up is made to believe that we need to eat meat, and to be vegan you need to question that and unlearn the narrative that's enforced even politically with food guides etc. At the same time, girls and women are taught that their life purpose revolves around finding a man or a husband, and to realize that you're lesbian you need to unlearn something that's been hammered to you your whole life (compulsory heterosexuality). That's why a lot of lesbians believe they are bi - they know they are into women, but it takes a lot of unlearning to realize they aren't into men. Hence "trying to find the perfect man".

    • @claddagh143
      @claddagh143 Před 3 lety +8

      @@jezabelpoirier609 that's an interesting point. I went from believing I was straight as a teenager (even though I loved a woman romantically, there was no sexual attraction, though I was concerned even then if that still made me gay), then realized my sexual attraction didn't matter when it came to genders, so maybe I really was bisexual and just hadn't met the right people yet, to then realizing asexuality is a thing and it CAN be separate from romance. Now looking back I could probably say I'm about 85% homoromantic, 15% hetero romantic, and 100% asexual, with some possibilities of being demisexual if the correct circumstances were to ever happen. 😅
      *also totally got called out on that "perfect man" shit, which I've made up in my head, as well as the "perfect woman" , but I've been way more ready to give leeway where my ideal woman is concerned if feelings develop for her, and I don't think I could do the same for a man. 😬🤣😅

I repress my feelings all these years, knowing that I aways wanted be with women...now, during this period of social distance , I took a lot of time of self reflection and realised that I'm not straight, neither BI...I don't know what I am yet. You guys! Lol story time! Okay so I am 23 and have never really been in a relationship with anyone. I always thought growing up that I was 100% straight and just not interested in any of the guys that I was around (those high standards though lol). Wellll then about 6 months ago I started considering the fact that maybe I was a little gay like maybe 85% straight 15% gay. So I switched my dating profiles to guys and girls. Well then about 3 months ago I decided that I was definitely more gay than I thought maybe about 50/50. Then about a month ago after some serious introspection and watching allll the gay youtubers I found you guys and this video and when I finished it I said YUP that’s me 😆 So I just wanted to hop back over here and say thanks for helping me solidify my ideas about my sexuality! I now think that I’m at about a 90/10 percentage wise 🙈 Oh also thank you Sadie for sharing your coming out story! I feel like most all I have seen people knew when they were young that they weren’t straight, but that definitely isn’t my story considering I was clueless until 6 months ago. So thank you for helping me realize that I’m not alone and that my story is my own and that’s a good thing! Anyways keep making videos you guys are great!

    Being bought up in an extremely Christian home I spent a lot of time convincing myself that I’m straight, even though from the age of 14 I knew that wasn’t quite true. Crazy how you can almost make yourself believe something. I married a man at 22 who I was actually very in love with and that was very confusing for me, sexually I always knew something wasn’t quite right, before we’d got together I’d told him I was scared I might be gay, but somehow we’d both managed to convince ourselves and each other I’m straight... long story short I am almost thirty, divorced and definitely gay.... with maybe 5% straightness in there hence the fact I could have sex with a man and as strange as it sounds I mostly enjoyed it, it just felt like something wasn’t quite right.

    I've been regularly searching for videos like this and I still feel like I'm bouncing back and forth with my conclusions.
    I sometimes search for female covers of romantic songs, and always get pissed if the pronouns are switched.
    Guys look all pretty similar to me (except a few exceptions), while The girls I know feel more unique. And I find myself wanting to stare more at other girls.
    But I get more flustered when talking with guys, and most of my favorite actors are male (although I'm not sure if I admire them because I deep down think they're hot or I want to be like them, all confident-looking and with a suit), although the fee times I've dreamt them it was just so I could get to thank them nervously for their work).
    I've hated any kind of physical contact for most of my life (except from my family), and in recent years I've secretly got a bit touch-starved. A friend (crush) one time rested her head on my shoulder (which no one ever attempts) and I freaked out and froze because I was scared she'd move away.
    Soooo.... yeh. Confused as hell
    Ps: you're a really cute couple :>

    I'd like to add one more thing to "finding the perfect man"...
    For me one of the most eye-opening facts was considering myself asexual... my whole life 😅
    At 22-23 I realized I had a major crush on my female best friend (duh, lol) for a few years, then I started questioning and it was going on for a looong time which resulted in watching a lot of coming out videos and "Signs you might be bi" videos :)
    Later I spontaneously decided to start watching "Orange is the new black" only because a girl literally said "It's every lesbian's favorite show" and it turned out I already had it in my bookmarks cos a few years back I thought "the brunette looks so beautiful I must watch it sometime"... 😆
    Long story short I realized I was definitely NOT asexual, AT 24!!! Thank you OITNB 😂🤦🏻‍♀️
    Being a late bloomer sucks 😆
    I still consider myself bi but 9/10 times I am attracted to girls ever since coming out (to myself, not publicly 😔) and it's already been 2-3 years 💁🏻‍♀️

For the first one I knew we are just close friends, but second one we came really close and I started to have these imagination that we are lying in bed together cuddling and since she had a great voice, she is singing my favorite song to me. And just like that everything kept on changing... Our friends used to actually tease us. But I was too confused to figure out what the hell was going on. Eventually we got separated as we passed out from school . But now I was stuck at this another girl I can't spend a day without talking to her. I have started to feel disgusted at the thought of being with a man in real life. But for some reason , my celebrity crush are still male. So that had me all confused

Knowing full well that no girl is EVER GONNA BE PERFECT. Luckily, celebrities no longer have to stay in their closets and set unrealistic dating goals. 😏

    Not even 3 mins in and your perfect man comment hit home but see my problem was that I wanted to find the “perfect man” but also because everyone else was dating people would end up settling for men who ended up always being very toxic cause I’d find these very smart guys who seemed to “understand” me and in reality they were just very narcissistic and could easily manipulate me Im not gulible and I don’t know if empathic is the term but I just take peoples emotions at face value and if they were decent looking (which for me I had a pattern of dating skater guys with very soft features 😂😂) if they were nice and smart those were the boxes I ticked of Yupp this is a good one little did I know I was falling into this pattern of because I wanted a perfect guy and guys who were extremely intelligent were also extremely narcissistic I always felt like why am I dating them I’m not even really attracted to them we’d get intimate and I’d be like um... why is this such a big deal... and even with my ex husband I’d tell him oh my coworker is so pretty don’t you think she’s pretty and one night another coworker (female) kissed me at our work Christmas party and I literally wouldn’t stop telling him about it for weeks and just thinking about it I never felt that with a guy i should’ve known lmao. The fact that it impacted me so much that yrs later I still think about it should’ve told me.😂

    I used to be bisexual, but I realized I might be gay.. I just realized it once because I had a dream of a woman and I just randomly bursted into tears waking up because I felt like I was changing as a person and felt like I was lying to myself for years.
    Sometimes though I really doubt myself that I am fully lesbian though and whenever I go in public I purposely look between a man and a woman, questioning myself if I am attracted to both or just a woman.. It really has been confusing..
    Other than that, my connections with men has lost its touch.. Every time I have sex with men I feel ashamed or feel nausea from even doing it..
    That and I have been really into watching Wlw tiktoks, watching lesbian media, and researching a lot "If I am gay"..
    This has been one confusing journey.

    • @meganf1658
      @meganf1658 Před rokem

      Yeah it is confusing isn't it. I think I'm bisexual but then there is comphet.. so it's hard to know for sure. One thing I've been doing is thinking "would I be ok with being a lesbian?" and "am I ok with being bisexual and living my life as bisexual and everything that would mean for my life". If you have the thought and feeling that "No I wouldn't be ok with being a lesbian" then that thought could be stopping you from experiencing your sexual and romantic attractions fully.. This seems to be helping me but I don't know if it would work for everyone so maybe just try it carefully if you choose to do it.. Good luck with figuring out your sexual orientation 🙂

    I used to go to krav maga classes when I was ten, there was another girl there named Crystal. She had VERY strong legs. We were practicing our kicks and I was paired with her so I was holding a tombstone for her to kick. She missed slightly and her toes, just her toes, got my chin and knocked me to the ground. Few months after that I left krav. Recently I've been practicing krav maga at home and it brought back memories. I have not been able to stop thinking about her for the past week or so. I'm 100% sure I have a crush on her.
    Now I realize she could be reading this currently. Hey if you are, we can be friends if you want. I'm Aria, probably don't remember me. I understand tho, I forgot about you until recently.

    I never had a crush on a girl or woman but I heard the question quite often if I wasn't into women. I have always thought it was because wearing my hair short and the way I dress. Also I thought I have just not met an attractive guy that is into me and also inspires me for more than two to three dates. Now I joined my lesbisn friend to a queer night out. It felt surreal and made me think: I got so much attention by very attractive women while my friend seemed to be invisible. I got approached as well. So I am like: If I am this attractive to good looking and interesting women, maybe I AM gay? For sure that thought needs some pondering but can it be that lesbians attracted to you can also be an indicator? And I am not talking one lesbian once or twice but a whole bunch of them...

    Over the years, I've found out that so many people I hung out with have come out. Of my middle school friend group, there's been at least 4. A few from high school, and there are some people I knew back in 1999, 2000, and 2001 that I'd love to reconnect with.
    I think that I've often pinged on people's gaydar, buy in my case, it's more like a queerdar. One of the now out friends from the middle school group was looking for a word to describe me back in middle school, and suggested the d-word. The more I explore the very likelihood of being a trans lesbian, the less inaccurate that sounds.
    I then had a co-worker one Christmas Eve (who drunkenly, with a boyfriend and dogs sleeping in the room next to him) DM's me on Facebook making a booty call. For hours, he tries convincing me that this gay vibe he's picking up up must mean that I'm into men and should have sex with him. I'm then, he was like "Huh, maybe you are a lesbian in a man's body.". I was like "Y'know. Stranger things have happened.".

Extensive research by Utah university lesbian and bisexual women studies department and other universities gender studies provides very clear and insightful information of how lesbian love has flourished throughput history. Like, is it more common for women to have an extremely fluid sexuality, that should be described with it's own terms? (Not implying that lesbian women "just haven't found the right man", but rather that many straight women could be happy with the right woman.) On the other hand, fluid female sexuality could be tied to women having less of an option to choose their partner, so "making due" would be something that has been required of most women throughout history.
