A No Spend Quilt - Stash Busting Scrappy Beginner Friendly

  • A no spend quilt is perfect for the beginning of the year. At the beginning of a new year I always say - I am going to save money this year. Not I am going to lose weight or go to the gym. Nope! I am going to control my spending and this no spend quilt is perfect for my first quilt of 2024 and my declaration to spend less money.
Another undertaking is to use the fabric I have which fulfills the no spend quilt; as well as saving money. And I have a LOT! I traveled quite a bit in the last 2 years and I've collected some beautiful fabric. Now I need to use it.
So to both ends, I have created a controlled scrappy no spend quilt that turned out great. I combined a couple different techniques I've seen and came up with a quilt that I really like.

I think the quilt needs another vertical row to finish the half diamond block. It just looks unfinished to me. With that completed, I think the border choice will be easier to determine.

The blues are beautiful but there is no center. I suggest adding one more half column to the blues on the right and make it rectangular. It looks unfinished. Love what you did with the white block centers. A solid blue or white border would frame your blocks nicely with all the pattern then bind it with the patterned fabric if it doesn’t clash with your backing.
