    Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have been a shuttle tatter for almost 50 years. Decided to try needle tatting for the sake of adding beads more easily. Been pulling my hair out at not being able to accomplish a simple ring! Other instructions don't include the loop. I am now a very happy camper and have bookmarked your page!

      Hi Sarah! You really should use a tatting needle; most regular needles have eyes that are larger than the diameter of the needle, and you need to be able to slide your stitches off over the eye. The eyes in tatting needles are the same diameter as the needle. You can get tatting needles off of my website, www.tattingcorner.com :)

    I've been cross-stitching for nearly a year now, and I wanted a hobby which requires less materials that I can do anywhere - so, since I'm familiar with needles, I thought I'd give needle tatting a go! These tutorials are excellent; I couldn't follow the book I bought at all, so it was great to see you doing it physically. Thank you!

    thank you so much for putting this online! I was able to research different lace techniques and look at all kinds of ways to make them on youtube. I settled on this style being a sturdy way to decorate clothes in my family. we are a farming family and i have small children, so having a lace that is sturdy and able to stand up to rough wear is much more preferable to something like bobbin lace that would just literally fall appart after hours of work.
    thanks so much!

      @Stammyify Před 5 lety

      Hello, i realize its been 3 years since you commented on this. :) Did you figure out the shuttle tatting meantime? :D Basically tatting is working a knot over a core thread and arranging the knots into beautiful shapes. In Shuttle tatting you have to do "the flip" to be able to close a ring for example. So you need to play with the tension of the thread in order to "reverse" the knot in a way that the thread going into the shuttle will become the core thread and the thread on the ring will form the knots.
      You dont have to do this in needle tatting because you are casting on the needle so you dont have to worry about tension :)
