- Hello Skaters! Welcome Back! Today I am going to be teaching you how to do a Mazurka Jump. This jump is one we don't see as much anymore, but it is a great half rotation jump that can be used alone or as part of a footwork sequence. It takes off like a back outside pivot or Toe Loop, and it lands like a Tap Toe Jump! I will post those tutorials below to help you prep for this jump.

I had really high and powerful, yet often cheated single toe loops. By following this video of drilling Mazurkas, I finally managed to correct my toe loops! Now I'm starting my doubles journey! Thanks Julia!
That is awesome! Good for you!
This is perfect timing! I start Pre-Free Skate classes tomorrow and was a bit confused on how to do a mazurka, thank you for posting!
Glad it was helpful!
Been binge watching Julia whilst I’m taking a financial break from the ice, so excited to try a few new things when I come back!!
I am so glad you are enjoying my content!
I was taught to do a right inside 3 turn toe pick behind and bunny hop off of it
I love the look of this jump, I need to learn it. Thank you so much for all your videos ❤😊
Can you please do a video on Sit spin please..
Thank you Coach Julia its so fun and helpful.
You're so welcome!
Hey coach Julia! I've been watching your videos for a while and I love your content a lot. As I'm starting to prepare for my first beginner competition, I have been looking for some interesting elements to do in my program, and this looks really nice, so thanks :)
You got this!
Wonderful! 💗 Thank you!
Glad you like it!
hi! love your videos! can you do a series where you go over the free skate and pre free skate levels? thanks!
Just in time!!! I’m in pre freeskate and I’m just now learning this!
Thats awesome! It is a fun jump.
Thank you for the slow motion. Regards
You're welcome
Thank you thank you!!! 😊
You are so welcome!
Can't wait to try these tomorrow.
I hope you like them!
@@CoachJulia i got it down on my dominant side. Now i want to learn to do it switch, if you know what I mean. 😉
I’m not sure if my other coach knows this jump. Hehe. Should be fun to do it while she watches and get smacked for a weird toe loop.
Lol. I Hope your coach knows this one!
Got back from my small group lesson (and more), where I am the only one in the group. Yeah, I’m paying small group tuitions for private lessons. Lucky me ☺️
BTW, no, I didn’t try the mazurka during toe-loop practice.
After my lesson, I switched to “figure-dad mode” (meaning I took out my “Oh Flutz” hoodie to stay warm) and watched my daughter get her very first program lesson. Though at first I kind of took it as a mental torture (or being punished for still not being able to do spins) to have to sit and watch from the sidelines for three hours, it was actually pretty fun watching other skilled kids and learning from watching them. (And of course I loved watching my kid as well.) Like, I was able to watch a kid doing some very nice loops, which I am struggling with right now, and am pretty sure I figured out what I have been doing wrong and how it should be done. Being able to execute is, obviously, another story. Anyways, what this means is I’m going to the rink for public skating tomorrow to try out the findings. Hopefully, my loops turn out better than before. 🙏
Sometimes watching others practice can be great inspiration! I am glad you felt you got something from your 3 hours of watching!
Hi Coach, so if you're trying for the backward outside pivot, after the FW inside 3-turn and you lose confidence (Flutz'd it), that sequence could be switched a Mazurka and by accident impressive the judges. Thanks Coach!
LOL, awesome solution!
I use it to feel the rythm before a Toeloop Jump 😄
That is perfect!
Is there any information about your app yet?
back outside pivot link leads to toe loop vid!
Hey Julia! Quick question, how come mazurka jumps aren't used/taught anymore?
😂we used to do inside axels, one foot axels, stag jumps, open axels, Wally’s
I could watch open and delayed Axels all day. Robin Cousins did some great ones. I love the Wally - somehow it seems so unexpected. I would love to see move variety in jumps during performances.
Wah so pretty! But i still cannot do any of the required elements for it hehe
Keep practicing! You can put this on your list for the future!
