Macbeth is an opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi, with an Italian libretto by Francesco Maria Piave and additions by Andrea Maffei, based on William Shakespeare's play of the same name. Written for the Teatro della Pergola in Florence, it was Verdi's tenth opera and premiered on 14 March 1847. Macbeth was the first Shakespeare play that Verdi adapted for the operatic stage. Almost twenty years later, Macbeth was revised and expanded in a French version and given in Paris on 19 April 1865.

That bloody accompaniment is so quiet in the beginning that Mr. Warren couldn't hear it properly, because his voice is so big even when he sings piano 😅 listen closely, the pitch is slightly off, he realizes and stops abruptly at the end of the phrase so that he has enough time to listen into the orchestra! He then continues on pitch! Nobody notices. What a fantastic singer.

I literally bought this the old LPs of Warren's Macbeth last week! My favourite Macbeth! Rysanek is good, but not even close to Callas, but Warren, Bergonzi and Hines are AMAZING!!! I also got the famous Molinari-Pradelli Forza with Del Monaco, Tebaldi, Bastianini, Siepi, Simionato and Corena. Basically, a who's who of 1950s Italian opera.

Tomorrow Lady Macbeth's "Guest the soprano" is published, of course Maria is there, the role is practically written for her. It would be necessary to study how the role matured with her throughout her career, she understood it perfectly.
Warren is too big and imposing, he is wonderful. I do not think there is another next to it, and many who did not even dare!

@@Oldschoolsingers Callas IS Lady Macbeth. In the role, I also like Shirley Verrett and Elena Souliotis.

Con Bastianini erano i Baritoni mentori di mio suocero Baritono Salvatore Sassu. Grande Warren!

What a beautiful voice, such a shame Domingo is singing this role

How is that a shame? Have some respect. Have you heard Domingo in the role? I'd rather hear Domingo than a bad baritone. There aren't that many great famous baritones around are there.

There’s a lot of great baritones, a lot of which are unknown to the public due to finding difficulty making it in the industry. And yes, they sing better than domingo.

People should be happy that we had and still have Domingo, instead of b1tch!NG about him not being a baritone
