Hello everyone, thank you for watching this video. On the one year anniversary of its release, I have created an updated version. I'd recommend that you watch that one instead of this one because it is clearer, covers more topics, and answers some of your questions. Thanks!
UPDATED VERSION: • 2 Ways to Digitize CUS...
Hi guys! As a Mac user, I know how hard it is to find good, free embroidery software. Today I'm showing you a cross-platform way to digitize images for embroidery on embroidery machines. It's 100% free and doesn't involve any free trials or anything that is temporary. You can keep this forever! Please share this with your friends and people that may like this because this can be really helpful for some people!
If you would like to help support my brother and I donate PPE for the frontline healthcare workers and people in need, please consider buying from and sharing our Etsy store at umakerz.etsy.com. Thanks in advance

So much better than most other tutorials. Such a real-world beginners guide that I needed to see; Even things like showing stitch buddy. thx for the vid.
You are truly a hero for posting this. This is EXACTLY what I needed!
For everyone who couldn't see the file after saving it with an empty directory, open up the extensions folder that you had previously set in your preferences. After oppening that right click extension in lest of the "search extensions" and copy address then past that in to the directory slot!! it worked for me !!
THANK YOU! You have saved me so much time and money. I really appreciate you making this video. I just bought my machine without realizing how expensive software is to be able to use my own designs. This has helped me create things such as business shirts for my dad without having to spend hundreds more on software.
I have gone through COUNTLESS of videos! everyone claiming they are a pro. This was the easiest tutorial to follow without having to buy an extremely expensive platform! This was AWESOME IM SHOOK!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! This literally was everything I needed. God bless!
This video slaps, thanks for hooking it up 🙏🏼
This was so helpful!! I have been trying to figure out how to do this on a Mac for weeks!!! Thank you!!
This video was a huge help! You're a legend Sanjithar!
Dude. You rock! Learning curve for sure, but I downloaded these tonight and I've already exported my first custom stitch design. Thank you!
When I hit add nothing is added to extensions please help
Thank you, so far this is the best tutorial ive found to figure all this out. Still havent got to print my design yet, but so far its looking good!
I offer the same service just visit my blog dynamicdezign.com/embroidery-digitizing/ and also visit my website dynamicdezign.com/ that helps you a lot and also feel free to contact me at wilson.dynamicdezign@gmail.com for further queries and orders
It is great! I come back to this video when new designs, because it takes some months to do it again but he explains it clearly and exact 👌🏽
Can’t wait to download and try this out! I have been looking for a digitizing software to get Arabic fonts!! Thanks so much for sharing!! I hope it works for me!!
THANK YOU FOR SOLVING THIS!!!!! Super helpful
Thank you Sanjithar, I appreciated this very much
Okay for everyone having trouble with the Inkscape is damaged first make sure you have the right versions for both programs According too your computer version then deleted all of Inkscape and re-download and make sure it opens and runs before adding the extensions then add them while the app is still open then close and restart it and it should work.
Thank you !!! It works
@@chloewilson7466 yeah mine too
Hey thanks this helped me out!
lifesaver!! thanks so much!
Thanks for making these videos I appreciate you!
this is amazing, thank you very much, found this treasure 2 years late ! but you saved me so much time and money.
omg thank you so much this was extremely helpful!!!! appreciate it
Thanks so much for this video! I had such a hard time trying to find free digitizing software. The video would be better if you didn't fast forward yourself at some points though, I'm not sure why you did that but it just makes it harder to follow your process. (if the viewer gets impatient watching you mess with settings they can always just jump ahead in the player on their own!)
i guess it's kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good place to watch newly released movies online ?
great tutorial thank you so much!
what seemed to work for me is clicking on file, save as and putting .pes or whatever file type at the end of your file name! it opened up in stitchbuddy for me and looks good - i'm about to try it out on my machine :)
Thanks for sharing this, really helpful
thanks for showing step by step how to do this
Thank you for your help!
This vid really helps a lot! I was wondering if you can change the stitching to something like a satin stitch or if it only does fill stitches

.25 spacing is really dense. Also, I see that the fill is going to perforate the edge because all the needle penetrations line up.

@@ramonaamante3514 if that's what you mean, i came across the same issue too. here's what helped me figure it out: inkstitch.org/docs/faq/ and github.com/inkstitch/inkstitch/issues/600 . hope this helps!
Thank you so much!!!!!
Thank you
THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!
do u know how to transfer the design to the machine?
@@nadiaescobar2841 yes! You’re gonna need a hard drive. Put download the PES to the hard drive and then plug it into your embroidery machine! Hope that helps ☺️
@@nadiaescobar2841 Since you will have already saved it to your computer's hard drive, you then need to transfer that file over to what is known as a "thumb drive" (because it is about the length of a thumb). It's also known as a USB drive or flash drive.
The USB end should plug into a port on your computer and allow you to transfer the file onto it, then take it out and plug into the USB port in your sewing machine.
Read any instructions that may have come with the USB drive. Some drives may require you to re-format them to work on the mac, or the mac may just tell you you need to do that when you insert it for the First time.
Other USB drives may be mac-ready from the start, and not need to be formatted.
Another thing to pay attention to, is on a mac, after you have transferred the file to the USB drive, you may have to disengage it from the computer (Eject it), BEFORE removing it, or you will get an error or warning message when you don't do it.
This is because it can possibly corrupt the data if not ejected properly first.
A quick and easy way to do this is to open the Finder on your mac, then locate the USB drive in the list in the left side pane.
usually the drive's name will appear at the bottom of the list. Then click on the eject button next to it.
Then you can remove the drive, and plug it into your sewing machine's USB port.
You should consider a donation link. Google pay is a good platform. I don't believe they take a percentage like PayPal and Facebook do. You'd be surprised how quickly even small donations grow. It will really help you with expenses for material and thread. Be sure to share with the guys making Inkscape/Inkstitch work. It takes a lot to keep that platform going. Thank you for the tutorial.
LEGEND 😍
New sub!! Just got a brother embroidery machine i unboxed and I am so excited to start.. i like how it shows the measurements when you are croping and sizing. Did you add that or does it do it for you like that?
same lemme know how it works for you
Someone please help me. I did everything except when about 4:30 starts about double click it and so on?? Ease
This is great. I just got an embroidery machine but the prices for the software make me want to poke my eyes out.
idk how to layer the akatsuki cloud from naturo, canyou do a tutorial of that one next?
All the Mac users who can't get this work, their website's instructions are outdated. If you're downloading it new, don't bother with the file download - we're going to do it through Terminal. If you already downloaded the file and installed it, you're going to have to delete it before it'll work (or just delete Inkscape and try again from scratch).
1. Download Inkscape. Under Inkscape > Preferences > System > copy everything in the "Inkscape extensions:" box.
2. Open Terminal and type "cd [paste what you copied]". Hit Enter.
3. Copy and paste "curl -LJO github.com/inkstitch/inkstitch/releases/latest/download/inkstitch-v1.29.1-osx-en_US.zip". This downloads the extension straight to your Inkscape folder and should take a minute or two.
4. Copy and paste "unzip inkstitch-v1.29.1-osx-en_US.zip". This basically installs the extension.
5. Done. Restart Inkscape and it should be under your Extensions.
in part 3 it is also in terminal? , because says "Warning: Failed to create the file inkstitch-v1.29.1-osx-en_US.zip: Read-only
Warning: file system" do you know what i did wrong?
Mine also says failed to create the file inkstitch
Can you show on a Windows computer? Once I right click on Inkscape...I don’t have the steps you mention in this video! Please and Thank You
When I move ink stitch to Inkscape and open Inkscape it says that app is damaged, do you know why?
Thank you for your hard work to share a free option to create custom embroidery.
the params won't show up for me. please help i dont know what to do
Same...
I’m at the very last step where I have to click extensions and then embroider. When I click apply the creep just loads a little and nothing happens. How do I fix this so I have it in my files?
Lifesaver
Can you do a video for PC I'm new nd I don't know how all this works and the money for these sofwares are astonishing. Thank you.
Hi! Uhm when I go to the section embroider is just doesn't let me click it its like greyed out. By the way I'm on a Big surr mac
Hi thanks for the video, When I put the ink stitch files ink scope, ink scape won’t open, it says it’s damaged and needs to be moved to the trash. What could I be doing wrong?
trying this and i am getting the error: Path 22: Error: Fill Shape is not valid. how can i fix this?
can someone explain how to do the terminal thing?
If I have a Vector File, how can I skip the tracebitmap step to go straight to the embroidery conversion?? Do I have to save a file under PSE file??or something similar
Someplace between the params button and ink stitch something got missed .. something about boarders not connecting .?
"path290: error: Fill: Shape is not valid. This can happen if the border crosses over itself."
can you upload a video on how to do patches ?
hey how do i add Ink stitch to the Inkscape as an extension? i have everything up when i go to digitalize it does come up under extension.
This helped me a lot peace and love blessings e spot 1
hi can you help me fix the file not readable error? there's nothing in the little space when clicking to embroider which is what you said not to do but it's not working.
What @kitty did worked for me. In inkscape I also went to install add-ons for inkscape. And followed the prompts
I followed everything but when I put the file onto a usb and when I put the usb in the machine the file didn't come up
thank u
i put the inkstitch files into the extension folder but I don't see the inkstitch extension when I open inkscape?
at 9:00, how did you separate the layers of the letters?
i cant find where the files are being saved to on windows 10
thank you my love you're so cute when u talk!!!!
This is awesome!!
Do you know how i can convert a Inkscape date into a shv format ? I need shv for my Maschine
This is great thanks!
