    I just received and set two of these traps today, and on the back of the package is a drawing demonstrating your video tips. Your video is helpful to see the recoil of the trap cycling.

    Hi great video. Please make more . Your product review of this trap,is the best. I have caught 8 mice in two days. I want victoe to make a larger size. I like the easy set up, I don't have to worry about losing my hearing.

      I think it could be a really good one for rats. Lately though, I have been getting really poor results with baited snap traps in general. Maybe word got out that peanut butter is not as good tasting as they think it is?? But I started using the un-baited Havahart metal, single occupancy, live traps and find they are vastly more effective than snap traps BUT they cost about $30 each. I got 9 of them now. And some nights I will get 9 out of 9 in the traps. I carefully dump them into a tall 6 gallon plastic bucket and whack them with a stick and dump them out for the ravens which go nuts for them. By comparison, I set out 47 snap traps the same night and got about 4/47 with pretty fresh bait (organic, fair trade melted chocolate bar with salted caramel inside). I thought for sure that would really bring them in.

    Like many traps they need to be attached to a weighted base.

    My aunt has 10 of these traps, she says she just puts them all together like in a U shape that way if 1 trap don't do it the others will 👌

    The ones they're selling in 2022 say they're new and improved so it would be interesting to know if they've fixed that. Maybe you should get the new one and see if it is fixed

    Thank you. This is helpful. I will put the back against the wall.

      Yep, exactly. The traps are performing really well when I set them up that way. It is also helping to prevent accidental trips by or kills of other critters that happen to walk by or bump it. The older style traps with exposed bait and trigger lever have recently killed a Say's Phoebe that apparently got it head whacked hard enough to kill it even though it did not get caught in the trap. It was laying nearby the trap. 😭

    Put the back up against the wall instead of the way they tell you too

    I have the same ones, i was thinking about duct taping it or super gluing it (counterintuitive) they're so light weight!

    • @zachreyhelmberger894
      @zachreyhelmberger894  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah, I was thinking of putting a bunch of them on a piece of plywood with some kind of "quick-disconnect" system so you can pull out the ones that got a mouse and disposing of them and putting the traps back on the plywood.

  • @wilrobles5392

    The trap needs to be secured to limit recoil.

    • @zachreyhelmberger894
      @zachreyhelmberger894  Před 3 lety

      That would be even better! I was thinking of mounting a bunch of them on a piece of plywood, maybe with some kind of quick disconnect thingies so you can quickly remove the traps with the dead mice on them and then pop them back in.

    It isn't just a recoil issue. These traps are underpowered with weak springs. I tried them and have since thrown them all in the trash.

      @zachreyhelmberger894  Před 3 lety +5

      Oh that is too bad. Maybe it was a bad batch?? Mine are working great so far. But I do think they could use s stronger spring, like you say. Or maybe your mice are super-mice with really strong skulls! :-D

      @@zachreyhelmberger894 I just picked up a package of two a few weeks ago and I think they're working great compared to the conventional kind. I was having problems with them licking all the peanut butter off and walking away unscathed. It was almost a 50/50. So far they're working like a charm and they're much easier to set up and deal with as a whole and they seem more effective .

    I mark this mouse a failure it's too light and recoils too quick still won't easily kill and a rat could easily push it to set off the trap and not kill

    • @zachreyhelmberger894
      @zachreyhelmberger894  Před 3 lety +1

      Agreed that it could not kill a rat. Simply not powerful enough. The advantage of the red plastic hammer is that it has enough mass to do some serious damage to the mouse but the drawback is the recoil. Thus my video describing how to compensate for the recoil.
