On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8. - Hry

Thank you for watching and Thank you to dodger for helping with this video, lets keep in mind both of these aircraft are amazing aircraft and both have advantages of their own its really a matter of dragging him into your fight which will determine who wins in this fight, but as usual, the Viper is king on the deck.
I believe this game downplays the Typhoon’s (BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT IT’S CALLED!) performance. I strongly doubt an F16 can out turn a Typhoon.
A difference in pilot skills could make the difference but f16v Eurofighter is a but like Eurofighter v f22 in that the former in both cases “could” win but the latter “should”.
Very few Eurofighter pilots come back with sad faces against f15-f18’s in BVR or closer in but nothing is ever 100%…
F-16 VS JF-17
Just like the 18 video... Dodger also can't max perform the EF. We aren't getting a good feel of F-16's actual capabilities nor the opponent fighter. Hit me up if you want some real fights that might show something. Again, I'm on your discord.
@@SvenTviking You do know the Typhoon still has to follow the laws of physics right? That jet is massive compared to the Viper. Getting that much mass to change directions/velocity is the key to how the F-16 can stay out of its nose.
"Can we make him overshoot?" - famous last words
I mean there was an overshoot... from the gun
He forgot to hit the brakes lol
I'll hit the brakes and he will fly right by
Literally threw my phone… lol
“I’ll hit the breaks and he’ll fly right by”
I was an F-16 mechanic in the USAF. I watched F-16’s smoke F-15’s in real time. It’s a no joke dog fighter. So glad seeing it get the respect it deserves.
Was in A&P school with some former F14 mechanics. They were telling me the big mouth F16 was King shit in a dogfight 💪🏾
I didn't want to listen to em, but here we are...F16 is my favorite bird on DCS
@@JulianVR4 I never got to see the F-14 in action, but she’s still one of my favorites.
@@JulianVR4 For those uninitiated, the early F-16s had a much smaller intake volume (Pratt and Whitney engine) , basically a small mouth versus big mouth bass (General Electric Engine).
The F16 has come A LONGGGG way as far as airframe performance, life cycle (they were retired at like 2500 flight hours. Now its something like 10,000 projected) avionics, and weapons capability. They are SO damn impressive, especially costly for cost vs a current F15
How could an F-16 smoke an F-15 though?
Doesnt the Eagle have a higher thrust to weight? Better rate fighter too?
About time they updated the simulation to more real world performance for the F-16. Your discussion toward the end concerning turn rate vs radius vs G is pretty accurate to real EM diagrams for the F-16 Blk 30 "big mouth" (GE 110 engine).
I have over 2000 hours in the viper spanning the F-16A Blk 10 to the F-16C Blk 40, of those the Blk 30 is the badass dogfighter due to it's thrust to weight and EM diagram performance. A couple of things:
- Optimal energy sustaining corner velocity is between 330 to 440 knots at 7.33 G below 15,000'. You can go above or below slightly, but you will sacrifice rate at low end or radius at high end.
- Practice "feathering" the throttle in afterburner to manage airspeed from high end to best rate/radius toward low end.
- Pulling substained G above 7.33 will cost you energy and result in bleeding rate.
- Avoid pure vertical vs an F-15, Mirage 2000, Eurofighter...any with good high altitude performance. Offset your circle to the oblique vs pure pursuit.
Well done, you fly the aircraft quite well 👍
Thank you very much very cool to hear that from someone like yourself. The feathering the throttle thing I think will help me a lot thank you for sharing that.
You are welcome! I was an instructor in the Blk 30, we spanked F-15's (BVR different story), F-18's, even Mig 29's on a regular basis. Nothing out rates a F-16 except a F-22, and even then if he makes a mistake, a well flown Viper will capitalize on it (as you previously demonstrated).
You are showing patience and not allowing your adversary to suck you in, both are difficult qualities to teach 😁
Please excuse me, but what does it mean to feather the throttle?
@@johnayres2804 I’ve always thought the F-16 as one of the best dog fighters and I guess your comment on this new viper really lays down the bar. One question though, if you’ve ever went up with F-22s, how would you say it’s performance relates to some of GS’s videos. I didn’t believe what the f-16 could do and I guess this confirms that so if you could clarify on the f-22 it’d be great. Much respect from Florida.
@@galumir Changing thrust rate up or down to stay at optimal speeds
I love how it's so realistic that you can see the F16s wings bend slightly during those hard turns
7:28 mark: "Well that was terrifying."
Flew through the Fireball like the freaking USS Defiant. Such terrifying scene!
I love nothing more than turning a two minute bathroom break into 15+ minutes only because GS dropped another vid 💙
Are you having trouble in there honey? "No mom! Growling Sidewinder just uploaded! Leave me alone!" 🤣
“But mom, the Viper is taking on the Felon.”
Actually, I think I first found Growling Sidewinder and interest in DCS on the throne.
I can’t imagine what it would be like pulling 9gs for 13 seconds straight.
3rd round, that full afterburner right into the ejected pilot and his chute, that would have felt super great.
Loving the new F16 content, bandit unknown or some PvP in it next would be awesome
Imagine actually flying that and pulling 9g for that whole turn. Fighter pilots are badasses
Viper pilots are gym rats to a man. You can talk shit to a bunch of Hornet pilots in a bar, but if you do that with a bunch of Viper pilots you're going to get you ass kicked right into the ER.
I actually LOVED working out with those guys. They have some stories to tell and are as serious about their gym habits as they are their fighter pilot skills.
The EF 2000 Pilot would be able to do that relatively easily due to the Integrated G suit. The F16C Pilot would have a very hard time...
@@roijoi6963 Viper Pilots have a lot to compensate, the Viper is only a second line unit in any major Airforce. The US Air Defence is F15C+ and F22s, in Europe its the F-2000 if you can afford it. Also F18 guys are naval pilots. Carrier pilots are better then Land Based pilots on average. At least it was that way in the Tomcat days. The Navy Carrier Pilots are the best US Pilots and their only equal in the world were German and British Tornado Pilots (people doing 600 knots at 50 feet above the ground while flying under active Integrated Air defense)
@@TheNecromancer6666 I have no doubts US F-16s have G-suits. The viper is designed around doing these sustained G maneuvers, it pretty much needs it
@@tylerreed610 Viper Pilots have anti G-suits, of course they do. 🤣 These are more of the conventional type, though and I believe that is what necromancer means, right? In the Typhoon you have a slightly different integrated system which allows you to sustain 9G for a much longer time, though. There is also a special anti G-suit called "Libelle" which theoretically allows you to sustain 15 G maneuvers for a certain period of time and it uses water instead of air to keep the blood where it should be. Just to give you an impression of what the Typhoon can actually do irl...🤣😎
Man, when you were dancing with the Typhoon in rounds 1 and 3, those were serious nail biter moments until the deck transition. Awesome to watch. I love both of these aircraft.
Out of interest, how would one prevent the deck transition happening? Simply just refuse to engage and go into the vertical or what? Get that wouldn't be possible IRL due to Fox 2s, but then the whole scenario is unlikely in those circumstances also.
can't wait for a rematch with the heatblur eurofighter
Having spent time in polish F16C/D Block 52 and the RAF Typhoon, I can say the Typhoon feels and achieves 30-35% better dogfight performance. Way more manouverable and stable in close proximity. Also the acceleration and climbing capability of the Typhoon is noticable superior to the f16. nevertheless the F16 is a great airframe especially considering the age of it.
But when it comes to choosing only 1 airframe, it would be the typhoon every day, all day, all year....
But the price of the euro fighter
Eurofighter cost twice the F-16. The performance difference is not enough to invest in it.
@@bastadimasta ye expensive as f35
@@bastadimasta that would depend on what you are looking for
@@bastadimasta and who are you to say that the difference is not enough? Engineer working for Airbus?A pilot? An armchair pilot? Embarssing comments here on youtube
Thank you GS for this demo. I was one of the guys who asked for the F-16 vs Tyhoon. The TAC VIEW was very eye opening.
"gotta bring him in closer"
yes, GS successfully brought the cannons rounds closer to his head!
I'm a little late to this one, but I'd like to say that last TacView visual from the overhead perspective was impressive! Another way to describe that is a decreasing radius turn. Those are really fun to drive in motorsports as well! Excellent video, GS. And kudos to Dodger as well for giving you that facial. :^D
Hell yes, best way to end my weekend. Appreciate the vid GS!
7:21 Wooooooooooooow your editing is getting freaky with it dude. That was pure eye candy. Also I loved that 2 circle fight around the train lol. Imagine being in there looking out.ing
Keep up the good work I love watching your videos and I’m trying to get better at dcs and your helping me learn and keeping me into the game
I'm not a near good enough Viper driver to capitalize on the new flight model, but I can definitely feel the difference. I like it.
Same, the difference is really huge. Today I had a couple rounds against an F-18. Still got anihilated (mostly due to me not having a proper way to move the camera) but when I was able to look at the opponent I could really see him struggle to pull lead, even when pulling the Hornet to its max perfomances.
It's a real challenge to fly well. Needs a lot of practice where the Hornet just does the job. Love both. ;)
I watched these loops while listening your calm voice and I think how different and difficult they are when on a real dogfight with continuous g.
You videos are so interesting. Thank you.
That third round... maybe he thought he could FOD your engine with his canopy. That would be a hell of a way to get a mutual kill.
That first fight, man...I thought it was over for you when I saw you were one-circle with a Typhoon. Nice job!
I've had the chance to see both if these aircraft in the skies recently.
The past few weeks have been fantastic for F-16 and Typhoon flybys. Ever since the F-15 strike eagles moved out east.
The round 2 kill was artistic. Very cinematic, great job.
I can't wait to see DCS Eurofighter vs DCS Viper
7:22 just gave me goosebumps. I love these series!
This is great. Really like the one circle dances at medium altitude. I struggle a lot with keeping tally. In your videos you seem to keep in site event at some distance. Would you be so kind to make a video with your resolution and antialiasing settings, or techniques to improve keeping the bandit visible? Thank you
I'd like to point out that on top of you pulling min radius, you also set up an offset 2 circle during your deck transition
GS, I 100% agree with John Ayres below! Thank you for squaring off the Viper vs the Typhoon! Maybe try a F2 engagement next? Great Job!!
I'm still a noob at all this and don't even have a pc but I'm so impressed with your videos ! And the explanations of the fight are incredibly insightful........keep up the fantastic work 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
These cinematic camera angles are absolute FIRE. Excellent addition!
Awesome vid. Learn so much. Keep it up!
My man! Thanks!
great video as always ! i think it would be cool to see some fox 2 fights with the f-16.
I enjoyed it as always!👍
Man, round 2's kill was a thing of beauty.
I would love to see your dogfighting and other challenging engagements other than day time and sunny weather. Let's throw some storms, hailstorms, night time and many more factors into play
When I tell you that kill shot in the second dogfight made my jump back from my screen ...
Round 2's cinematic ending was like a movie moment.
That first match was... perfection. Well done!
Now... since you seem to be really starting to get your eye in with the Viper and its new flight model tweaks...
We can haz Bandit unknown plz?
Awesome fight. One of the most impressive ones yet. I have great respect for that Typhoon now.
Hi GS, thank you for your dogfight videos. Would you mind show us how does the viper performs in high altitudes (30000+ feet) dogfights or performance in vertical maneuver please. Love to see more how does the viper perform outside the rate fight. Again, thanks for your videos🙂
That round to the face, jumped out of my seat!
Oh, nice! Probably should have expected this but still cool
@7:20 THE most EPIC Live Cut-Scene I've ever SEEN. Truly Movie Level
Round 2 looked tasty. That cannon fire into the cockpit was a five course meal.
Man I crack up laughing every time you get killed that way. You see it coming and then silence. Just cracks me up. Keep up the good work.
People keep on forgetting that the viper was a 1960s design and has been relevant for almost 60 years.
7:16 “got to bring him in closer” famous last words
5:23 that was a beautiful fight!
Crazy after GS got KIA how you can see the cannon casings on that slow motion fly by as he flies through the fireball
I didn't realize the Typhoon ejects its shell casings
I love the F-16. Been my favourite airplane since I was in grade 4. I’m in my 30’s now.
nice slowmotion love your clips !
"Look at him come, oh yes." Haha very nice sentence
Loved the video @Growling Sidewinder! Can't wait for the next video man! I've got an interesting Scenario for you man; The U.S. Marine Corps have sent a Small Infantry Company of about 100 men in M113A3 Armored Personnel Carriers with 2 Platoons of M48A3 Patton Tanks for Support with Additional Anti-Aircraft Support from a Pair of M42A2 Duster 40 millimeter SPAA Tanks. The Company is Tasked with Clearing out Enemy Positions in The Caucasus mountains held by a Company of about 130 men supported by a Platoon of 4 T-72B2's and Several BMP-2's. A Firefight Ensues and the Marines start calling for Air Support, as do the Enemy. Your Leading a Flight of 4 F-16C Viper's Escorting a Pair of A-10A Warthog's to help provide support for the troops on the Ground. The Enemy has done the same and AWACS off in the distance calls out 4 Aircraft Headed for the Mountains from the South. A few moments later, the AWACS gets an I.D. on the incoming jets, They are Sukhoi Su-27 Flankers however 2 more Aircraft are picked up on radar and are immediately Identified as being Sukhoi Su-25 Frogfoots. So the Battle to come has 4 F-16C Viper's Escorting 2 A-10A Warthog's against 4 Su-27 Flanker's escorting 2 Su-25 Frogfoot's.
This is one if the best videos in your channel
Keep it up gs
And yeah love to see more dogfights and bvr with the viper
And wt about a strike mission for the next video may be the Israeli f16s and f15s getting the iraqi nuclear site or that balakot strike mission of iaf
Awesome to see just how close it was in these fights. Down to pilot skill!
New viewer, very cool videos! What I think would be super cool though would be after a couple rounds, you switch roles and fly the opposite aircraft. I know that would mean longer video, more time to make etc but I think it would be very interesting.
he does that in some of the longer videos
Welcome to the fun!
@@philcourteney4328 The algorithm can be strange at times! I'm enjoying the content. been watching a lot. Cheers!
Always getting my heart pumping watching you junk out from in front of his nose
I thought for sure that when he was inverted that you had the shot I definitely seen him in full canopy. Before I commit to the advanced system I know you touched on this subject before but everyone's telling me to get the VR and I know you told I saw that there's another I just want to make sure that my small allowance goes to the right setup by all means Ty great pilot you are. Beautiful Sunday love all of your dog fights and I truly wish you well on your journey, take care 🙂
amazing that an aircraft designed in the 70's is still such a formidable fighter. guess that's true of the 15 and 18 as well.
Thank you for this video.
7:21 is just *chefs kiss* levels of cinematography
amazing video as always
Good fights! Can't wait to get the TG/HB EF in the game!
7:13 "YOU'RE GONNA DO WHAT!?!?!"
Eurofighter: he's all the way around the circle, I's pretty safe.
Viper: so there was an update...
Growling: Can we make him overshoot?
Typhoon: Nope xD
I would love to see a f15 fighting a f15
Even though i don't think there would be much of a difference, it would be pretty cool to see some BVR with the new flight model of the F-16.
Man, this makes me wanna get the Winwing F16ex hotas but they're on backlog.
Great replays 👍
Wing flex looks amazing.
Right On Great video
7:15 that bullet came to my face bro
That's what made me like the F-16 all over again this video
Well flown GS :)
Gotta say that I really do like the longer videos like this one. There's more meat on the bones, so to speak; we get some great fights with time to develop, _and_
there's room for tac view. Great stuff man.
Certainly an example of forcing your opponent into fighting your type of fight, not his.
Imagine if the F16 had thrust vectoring. Game over
Awesome keep it up
GS : Can we make him overshoot ?
Eurofighter Typhoon Pilot: Im about to end this man's career.
🤣🤣🤣
Would love to see a F16 Vs F35 with the updated model
Some of the Greatest Fucking Footage ever in a growling sidewinder video @7:22.
Imagine if the eurofighter pilot ejected right into the viper's intake on that last round.
The Vipers engine would also have a problem to say the least
Mig-29 vs. F16 with you in the Mig-29 (or some other challenging but capable aircraft). I'd love to see how you use your knowledge of the F16 to your advantage.
Did you know that the development of the MiG-29 and SU-27 was what made the United States start the program to create the F-22? At first it was going to be a do everything aircraft but cooler heads said no, lets make variants of the then new F-15 and F-16 for air to mud instead and create a completely new dedicated jet to deal with the aforementioned Soviet weapon systems. It was fleshed out and being made into production Raptors just and the U.S.S.R. ceased to exist. It's a similar story as to how the F-15 was created in response to the unknowns surrounding the MiG-25.
@@debbiestimac5175 I knew the relationship between the F-15 and Mig-25 (which I honestly think is hilarious), but I didn't know that about the F-22 and SU-27 & MiG. Interesting read, but what was it about the SU-27 or MiG-29 that put enough of a fear to justify the F-22? Was it just that there were so many of them?
Ok we NEED a Viper vs Felon video
Nice flying there
WOW! That's the first time I've seen the killer actually fly through the fireball of the victim....Tom Cruise would sh*t his pants.
From now on, I'll be calling Typhoons - Tyhoons
"Gotta bring em in closer" I dont think the pilot agreed🥲
Imagine if you could pull all those G’s for SO LONG in real life. Great flying though, enjoyed.
Laslo: say what?
You can, there many videos of pilots in centrifuges doing it
Epic shoots !!!
Great video GSLooking forward to more Viper content
This aggressor camo makes me feel things
Get him in the wagon wheel and brrrt!
Hello Growling Sidewinder, can you please do more videos with the F-35, maybe vs the SU-57, JAS-39 Gripen, Eurofighter Typhoon, and Dassault Rafale? Planes the F-35 is actively competing against in tenders or might see in combat? Cheers and thanks for the great videos.
GS: GOTTA BRING EM IN CLOSER
Eurofighter: yer not that guy pal
12:06 imagine if he destroyed you with the cockpit glass flying off.
I’m enjoying flying the viper so much now, before it felt like a overweight truck. Now I actually have a good chance against hornets
