Thanks for this! Would have been nice if my dealer told me how to do this when I bought my truck. Lol
Thanks for the vid. Changed it first time around and worked. Already had set a password but kiddos figured it out, so changed it again. 👍 Works like a charm.
Awesome! Glad to see this video still helps people! Don’t make videos on this channel anymore so awesome to see it is still going strong!
Mine didn't come with the tag that included the default code although it was indeed set to '0000.' But unfortunately the little hole on mine won't depress so I can't change it.
Thanks, it help a lot.
I appreciate your gently quaffed hair divulging the secrets of the safe.
This worked great on my Lexus GX 460, same safe!!!
Awesome!
That’s my old CZcams channel when I was with Toyota. Glad it still helps people!
Thank you👍🏻
Thank you!
So that's how you change it...
Thanks. :)
David Coston you bet! Glad this helps!
How about upgrading the lock to a finger reader or even a coke key?
Thanks
Thanks fren
thanks
Make sure when changing the combo do not release the pressure or it will set. That is what happened to mine and now I need a new lock.
What you end up doing? Replaced? How did you replace it... ??
Drilled out?
Thank's bro, good info🤯 It's easy, but If 🤔 don"t know, 😝
Chris, once change it to something different and turn the knob to close, none of the dials spin to actually lock the safe. Any suggestions?
Thanks
I have the same problem
Any idea of what it might be if 0000 doesn't work? Is it covered in the owner's manual at all?
Not in the owners manual, do the card trick, it worked for me. Slide a thin card on the side of each cylinder to find a flat spot. Do this to all cylinders and then bingo.
Where do you purchase those safes? Appreciate the information on the video thank you
You can’t purchase them as I understand. I’d check your local TOYOTA dealer
You can purchase them from Lock'er down dot com
Do you know what % tint comes from the factory on the TRD Pro?
TRD Pro does not come with factory tint. That is generally done by the Toyota dealer.
I didnt even get to change the code and the safe is stuck at 0000. Doesn't open in my GMC Yukon. Does it have to get drilled out?
Hmmm. I wonder if it’s the same safe…did you try the paper clip? Is it opening at 0000? If so, that’s the combo and should be able to change it with paper clip if the same safe. If not working, I’d check with GMC dealer
And now I know !
Is there any other way to reset/open this? I bought a 2020 SR5 and the dealership doesn’t know the code because the previous owner set it and they can’t get a hold of him. I’m a little irritated cause they suggested I pay a locksmith, but even the locksmith didn’t know how else to open it
Is the paper lip not working?
im having the exact same issue with my 2019 tundra i just bought. if you figure it out please share!
@@DAT_BAMF_PANDA so unfortunately the only way to open and reset it is to have the current code already on it! I had the dealership contact the previous owner and they were able to get the code from him then I got to reset it. The original code for these safes are “0000” though so you could give that a try? If that doesn’t work, you would have to ask the dealership to contact the previous owner like I did. They got it to me in 3 days
@@chriswilcher2811 just saw this but in order for the paper clip to work you have to have the current code to reset the lock to your own personal code
Notice the question earlier, if you try to change the combo and it now is locked and stuck shut, what do you do? I took it to Universal Toyota in San Antonio and they had no idea what to do.....
great question! and we figured it out! get a paper clip and push it into the small hole on the combo side
@@chriswilcher2811 What do you do after inserting the paperclip to the small hole? (without knowing the existing combo)
Allie Bardwell reset it to your own personal combo
@@chriswilcher2811 Hi Chris, can you do a video description if you can't get the lock open?
Hi Craig, did you ever find out how to unlock the safe if safe is shut closed? All so not knowing the combination code.
I just got my truck from the dealership, and I have no idea what the combo is. It's possibly something the previous owner set it to. Will this method work if I don't have the previous code? Any tips?
From what I understand, you use a paperclip to reset it. It has been a minute since I made this video and I actually don’t work for Toyota anymore. What I would do is call Steve Landers Toyota and ask for Josh Land. He is the other guy in the video and let him know that I sent you.
@chriswilcher2811 yea, I was doing some reading and this paper clip trick only works if it's new, and unset. But, I bought my truck used, so the previous owner set it. Haha I may have to call a lock Smith.
Do the card trick, it worked for me. Slide a card on the side of each cylinder, rotate the cylinder one number at t time, you will find a flat spot. At this point stop and move to the next one, do this for all of them. That will be the combination.
Do I have to give the police this code
What about if we tried to change it and it won’t open
Baby Powder should work but if it doesn’t consult the safe company who makes them. Not your local dealer. I’d recommend just going straight to the manufacturer. Their name should be on the safe
Return it thing lock is junk. Safe seems good but don’t waste your money.
does this mean anyone can change the combo and open up the safe?
They’d have to know the combo first
Looks like the new ford bronco has the same thing!
Thank you!
