conceptforge I agree! I bought mine with low mileage, had to get a motor swap done on it because the previous owner already a feeble person was kind enough to joyride in it. After that, never had anymore issues! :-)
In fact the traction control in this situation will help stop the spinning wheel and redistribuate the power the the wheel with grip ! Use traction control off only on situation you need momentum !
Best off road vehicle I ever had. Put my old bronco and suzuki samurai to shame. You weirdo chevy guys saying not enough torque are all insane. Just digging a deeper hole for yourselves thank you...
It ain't the tires or traction control, the escape is independent front and rear suspension. Not meant to be an off-road vehicle. that being said, this ain't bad for an escape, good video.
Knowing how and when to use the traction control makes all the difference in the world. We just took our '09 Hybrid through some fun stuff in the mountains of the Mojave Desert. Multiple situations like the one at 1:24, and made it through just fine. The key is to know how the traction control system works. At low speed like this, it's very relaxed. Once you get opposite corners spinning, rather than gun it or give up, all you have to do is give it a tiny bit of throttle and let the computer figure it out.
+jorbjorb1 Well the problem is there's no "low" range on the Escape. It's just a full time AWD system. It wasn't designed to creep over uneven surfaces or hills. Also he's just got the stock all seasons on. Tires make a big difference. At least this video proves that the Escape's AWD system actually works. Do a search on here for the CRV AWD test where the back wheels don't even spin!
@@mmmfloorpie on my 2011 Ford Escape, there is a "low" function but is only a limiter that programs the transmission to shift only through the first three gears but allowing all the engine power to be utilized for more "torque" realistically, a real offroad trail machine has differential lock and two 4x4 gear ratios. The Escape is not bad for basic offroad conditions but it will not go anywhere near that a Jeep Wrangler would go. I personally love my Ford Escape, having AWD and good winter tires gives me confidence during winter. conditions
No Its not the driver or the tires, its AWD with open differentials. AWD is ment for snow and sand. And a $30k Jeep Wrangler will kill any Land Rover off road.
Yes but Jeep is American and fuck buying American. US vehicles are not road worthy in most other countries without making corrections and adding an extra $10k onto the retail price. In a country such as England or Australia that Jeep is now over $40k, we can put that money into a Land Rover and laugh at your Jeeps. After the Jeeps fall apart, and always do as they are cheap and nasty crap, they cost so much on parts as they all have to come from the US. Jeeps plus any other American car aren't worth buying outside of the states. US vehicles also don't have the styling, attention to detail, tech, presence and all around safety factor that an EU, Aus or even Japanese vehicle has. The US had to ask Australia for help with the Pontiac GTO chassis and ended up taking the entire Holden Monaro and rebadging it a Pontiac. That says a lot.
The Pontiac GTO came out in the 1960s in America. Holden wasn't founded until the 1980s. And as far as the Jeep goes. The wrangler is under $40k and will kill any anything out there off road.
jusfuknwidya The ford escape is worth every peny and is the right tool for my job.I'm a rural mail carrier i drive a 2011 ford escape with alittle more aggressive then all season tires my job is 98% of the time offroading and going up steep and uneven driveways winter and summer and i can tell you this not one time i ever got stuck always pulled myself out of all kinds of situations.Just use common sense even a tank get stuck.Btw its Vermont usa back roads are the worse place to be here. This kid obviously had no clue what he was doing not the correct tires for what he is trying to do and all he had to do is turn traction controll off.Plus the driver looks young and lag common sense.Daddy should take the car away until he learns to appreciat a car like this.
News flash my bronco will smoke all of u I bought it for 800 dollars and I haven't put a dime into it only bought new tires and it runs and drives and kills it off road very day she's 20 years old and still cooking she'll probably out last me she's a pig on gas but reliable and fun and loves the mud her 5.8 Windsor is one of the greatest engines I've ever owned and she has 422,000 miles on her you fools just don't know how to drive or treat off road vehicles land rovers and jeeps are shit compared to good old truck
Great video. It really helped me understand how power is distributed to the wheels while the vehicle is racked over an obstacle. Thanks.
Bad tires. Also keep on the gas, the intelligent 4wd will shift power to the other wheels. I've done it several times
escape 2011s are great vehicles. very reliable.

I’m looking at a 2011 XLT with 220,000 and a asking price of 7,000, I’m for sure talking it down but do yall think it’s worth it?

It’s hard to off road with bald street tires.
Cool video
Exciting
We have a 2010 Escape no problem in up to 2 feet of snow AWD kicks on fine
Same same
Get yourself a set of offroad tires and then make another video.
Geoff w
idk if this man knows how to off road
Speed , a little momentum to get over that hill , drivers ed . # off road tires.
turn traction control off
I think it's already off!!!
It has to stay on to benefit of rsc advance track (brake diff lock)
If only they made special tires for off road... Yeah, that would be real handy.
put some good off road tires on it and get rid of that front airdam.
Is the airdam that plastic fairing under the bumper?
@@aestheticcruise8807 YES It is. U can remove or change it. With screwdrivers.

Is there a 4x4 control switch?
better tires off road?
This happens when you put kids behind the wheels.
Is this 4x4?

That's not even near the problem.. problem here is OPEN front and rear DIF, enery takes the easiest path... (wheels off the ground)
