Hsieh/Mertens had to fight and claw just to get to this final, playing exceptional doubles tennis at every stage, so I'm not surprised they won. Incredible that Hsieh has two AO titles this year with this and the mixed event.

Winning 2 slams in the same slam - what an achievement for Hsieh! So well-deserved! Honestly their SF match was truly the final. Huge letdown for Kichenok for how she did today, surely she'll be disappointed with her poor performance. She was clearly fighting metal battles today and Ostapenko really had to carry for her and Kichenok, surely Jelena had frustrations towards Kichenok. Interested to see if the two will continue their partnership this year despite some great successes so far in 2024. Regardless Hsieh and Mertens deserve all the praise for their stellar performance at AO and they deserve to return back to the top of the rankings board!

😂😂 Can you believe it, Hsieh was the only player among all 4 players on the court today, whose service games were not broken throughout the match?😂😂 Her slow ass serves really threw off her opponents and numerous returns were hit miles out of the court😅😅

Penko probably hates those weak balls. She has to add more powerful to accelerate the shots so her returns were either too long or right into the net. You can see her groundstrokes on Mertens' side are faster and deadly, but on suwei's side, she couldn't hit the ball harder and that pissed her off.
Even men had trouble with Hsieh's junk serves in the mixed doubles. It is funny.

The slower you serve, the more time you have to get to the net.

Double trouble for Hsieh at the Australian open, truly a legend age is just a number for her. Also Mertens a bit nervous while serving for the match in second set, got broken twice but thank God they comeback to win it in straight set.

Ostapenko was showing so much disdain to her partner’s errors. It probably gives Kichenok so much pressure and I feel bad for her. Kichenok lost all her serves.

Su-Wei has little chance in WD because female players in Taiwan are not in a same level with her, but I think she has better chance in XD because we have some good male players such as Hsu and Tseng.

Is it just me or did anyone else feel a tension between ostapenko and kichenok? I tuned into the live match in the second set and i dunno i felt ostapenko kind of was rude to kichenok after she gave away a few points with errors in the 6th game of that set at 2-3 when ostapenko was serving. It looked too awkward
There was a point which kichenok tried to kill the ball many times at the net but failed, Penko seemed not happy even though she ended that point with a winner. Her toxic emotions are contagious in her team.
There's always tension with Ostapenko, doesn't matter who she's playing
Penko was making lotsa errors before … and kichenok was acting the princess then. Roles reversed towards the end
The commentator Daniela Hantuchova said multiple times during the match that there was little to no communication between the two of them, and barely making any handshakes between points
Penko is always rude on the court,… feel sorry for her,…
